Being a Swede, travelling the US for the past 28 years, visiting 48/50 states so far - This is the United States to me, in music! God Bless! from Stockholm, Sweden
Where did you visit in iowa?
@@jerodspeake6463 Two different occasions. Davenport was just fir the night and Des Moines for 36 hrs
Those aren't good representations of Iowa, but im glad you took time out your life to visit.
@@jerodspeake6463 where should I visit next time? :-)
Been to Georgia? If you haven’t, Savannah is a must! It’s my hometown and such a great city. Amazing history and terrific terrific food especially at the local areas
This man has been through hell and back and survived and wrote one of the greatest songs of all time.
amen
My husband got me hooked on this song. Reminds me of my heritage in the Appalacians! Love it!
@Steve Earle I'm doing good, thank you! Hope all is well with you!
I hooked my wife on Steve. I'm a proud man. If you know my wife. You'd be clapping.
I was born in SE Ohio, My mom and dad were born in WV. My dad had an 8th grade education. He worked in the coal mines during the day and ran moonshine for grandpa at night. I remember many times following grandpa to his still and having a sip even though I was only around 5 or 6.......Been a drinking ever since and that was in the mid 60's. Proud to be a hillbilly that's been an Okie for around 50 years that still drinks moonshine and and lives life to the fullest!
😮
I was brought up with Steve Earle's music in the background and I was lucky enough to watch him play in my adulthood, couple years back. Love the guy
For those of us born and raised in Appalachian, this song is our Antham. #ScotsIrish
A national treasure. Please someone, wrap Steve in bubblewrap so we don't lose him like we have so many this year!
LOVE THIS SONG! THE ENERGY IS SO TRUE TO THE AMERICA WE ALL KNOW!
He's only a nipper, many years left in him.
You can pickle him, he had already tried that
That’s a terrible thing to think about while listening to this song 😄
All i know that being from Liverpool i can hear my irish mum and grand dad dancing to this bouncing to this in eglash County Tip🎉
Few songs give me chills,,, this is one that always does!!! MASTERPIECE!
Damn skippy!
Growing up in East Tennessee back in the 80s and 90s this Copperhead Rd was kinda like our unofficial theme song lol.
Absolutely mighty song and still sounds amazing
Steve is an icon
Once you hear this song, you never forget it. Love it.
I met this guy multiple times when I was a teenager in Nashville thru random circumstances...I wish I could ask him the questions I have now, then..
That song is a masterpiece. Excellent band.
This version is from 2000. This vocal performance is what long time heavy crack use does to your voice. That and being hammered drunk at the same time. Since he's gotten clean and sober his playing and singing are absolutely top notch, like it was back in the early '80's before the crack and booze took over for a couple decades. He's very open about all that in recent public interviews so I'm certainly not making it up.
We know your telling FACTS
Everyone knows the draft dodger was a crackhead most of his life...
This is a once in a generation classic. He's earned the praise He's received
One of my favorite songs of all time
Mine too. Cheers brother🇦🇺🍻
Same.
Same
Having only known the studio version of this song up until now I just want to comment that it is amazing watching how he has changed this up to make it more interesting for himself over the years absolutely awesome
There's always been something about Steve that gets inside me and makes me wanna drive fast, LOL
Hello juskat
How're you doing?
Thanks for the love and support,
Also for being an amazing fan.
It's nice meeting you here 🌹
and drink some moonshine!
Steve Earle has certainly lived his songs.
😂😂😅
Wow pretty impressive 40 years later ..... The songs badass
Such an iconic song
Man this song gives me chills. And whatever that instrument is that he plays is awesome. What a talent.
Mandolin
That mandolin sounds crisp.
Eto ruskaia Balalaika
Mandocaster
It is a Mandolin
Time passes, life goes on, age shows how life has been..
Try telling that to mr Earle..his son just passed away
@@jamesmaillet9354 that wasn't so when this was recorded though...
Steve Earl you're one of a kind !!! Gotta play this song thru my JBL' S, and wide open !!! HECK YEA !!! Copper Head Rd. !!!!!
I agree!! Played it thru my Yamaha stereo. You just can't sit still!!
I share your enthusiasm
STEVE EARL, YOU HAVE KEPT ME YOUNG AND THE THE REAL TRUTH .FROM THE BEGINNING OF MY LIFE, SO GLAD THAT YOU WERE THERE FROM Beginning of my crazy life.
Man I love those percussions. This is how it should be. Many covers with the same tempo feel slow-ish and kind of empty. But here that cymbal play makes a huge difference. It makes the song feel like a fast moving locomotive.
Best version out there the whole intro and everything
Damn I'm Glad That We Are Here! The Hope of A CommonWEALTH! My Dad LOVED Bluegrass!
So much respect for his talent.
IF IT HAS STRINGS AND A NECK...Steve will tear it up!
Yep
Still rockin' the CRAP out this song, wow!
The bass player stuck with him through thick and thin. That's dedication!
Thats 💘 love and commitment, a true friend... Would love to go to his next show but my 22 yesr old car i dont think it would make it. Its a honda and drives like a batoutahell but dont believe i should take that kind of chance. Omg he looks like my mothers brother mike carter. Steve is my cousin. I realize how important family is now days. Ive lost sooo many family members and now i found out my son Ian is terminally ill. Steve has been thru alote. I love his strength and talent he is really an inspiration to me now that i have grown up. God Bless ✌ to all mostly Love.....
@@terriwatson3993 yes they were lovers. Steve is bi but I don't judge him
Great Scott Batman!! Good call........ good call.
@stephen hancock Fools spin lies to deceive people. The time of the fool is up.

This is *so* good, 2024 stylie. Steve Earle is.
My Great Grandfather was full-blooded Yaqui Indian....he ran Booze during prohibition, I can feel his ghost in this song
Going to see him June 29th for the 25th time !! Have yet to be in any way disappointed. Great song, great performance
one of my all time favs
I Love me my STEVE.. he done took a dive ❤️❤️❤️
You still got it Steve Earle!
I love that Irish jig he plays before the song.
A Masterpiece 👏🏻
Such a great song. I love the official video.
Stunningly, Earle looks NOTHING like the guy in the '88 video.
See Steve in this circa 1974 clip from
What a song what an artist from us Scots/Irish.
Still can sing Man! Sing on! Sing!
A divine man
Such wonderful music! Steve is the man!
Kelley Looney's been that gentle giant in the background, as usual... RIP
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
Love it.
My favorite song of his for sure
Thank you so much for this, much aroha from Aotearoa.
I LOVE STEVE EARLE
@Steve Earle I was born in knoxville and love COPPERHEAD ROAD

Best song ever
In this day and age !
Great Tune
A great musician...
This never wears out.
Awesome.
I just realized that I have a shirt that says petimores moonshine whiskey, copperhead rd Tennessee. Had no ideas until I heard this song
Wow! Go watch the original video and then watch this!
I'd say watch the original and don't watch this
@@withgoddess1119 No shit, this is depressing. We want the oldies back.
GOAT
Epic.......
Love this song and galway girl
Awesome
True heart lands music, no mistakes about the intent, you screw with people you won't come back from Copperhead road. End of story.
Nothing wrong with growing a few plants.✌️
This is exactly it.
One day Leo Moracchioli is going to cover this and it's going to blow TF UP!
MARK THE TAPE!!!
Epic.
Yeah ill remember the old version thanks.
Me too 😪
When the bass drum kicks in the rpms in the black dodge go up.
Big Block Dodge. But yes I get you.
At 73 I do relate .....
love the mandolin
From stud to family picnic right quick. Damn.
I hate it when they dub the "hit" version over the live vocal.
Great pleasure to be watching this video !!! Thanks .
I saw him on the hbo show The Wire , and I knew who he was , and that man can really write , and play , this kind of music !
all the years of singing copperhead road :/
Got that outtta tune mandolin
everyone becomes the over weight outtta tune mandolin player in the hawaiian shirt one day
Damn😔
Hey!!!!! HE WAS IN THE WIRE!!!!!!
Dang I love the Wire!
I know this song and the video but I've never seen this version before.
He looks almost unrecognizable from the original video but still familiar to me.
Now, thanks to you, it all makes sense.
From what I'm reading from these comments Earle had his addictions which makes his role as Bubbles's mentor makes sense.
Thanks again!
Man i hope someone is able to post a tutorial on how to play the beginning jig! Awesome would love to learn it
In Aussie i tell ppl, well i tell Australians verse for verse, i also explain what has become of burning whiskey. 🔥 Abolition Nascar & poppy seeds. Its reads like a good novel. We have a similar theme fosters froth. It cousres a generation of inbreads.
I live in the wettest county in the world, the Moonshine Capital of Virginia, and some very fine white liquor has been made on my creek. There are some bullet holes in my windows.
Where can a guy get one those mandolins. Very cool!
Made by moon
Holy shit! Where has this version been?
😎👍
The real deal,not a phoney.
Charles Barber, that’s not a mandocaster. It’s a Jimmy Moon Model T mandolin. Mandocasters are solid body electric mandolins originally invented by Fender (hence the ‘caster name), that mandolin is obviously not a solid body but an acoustic electric as it has a sound hole. His main mandolin is now an A-style Gilchrist.
If the end middle and end is not his best sure the mandolin and drum roll start is a treat. 🤟
I think I understood about ten word he sang.
That’s 3 more than me lmao. Check out Amy n Me cover of this song.
I wonder how awesome this would sound with traditional Irish instruments? or maybe Scottish bagpipes?
Or bagpipes and done like a viking war chant, I know they're two separate cultures but it would be awesome
It's been done. Look up Off Kilter and the Wailin Banshees
@@KJ4RMZ Thanks!
Scratch bagpipes , really irritating , and I'm a Coady- Cody /McDonald
Da got a chopper in the air…,
Times passes
Bob Dylan doing Steve Earle!
OK
Beginning of song I was starting to think he had lost his voice.
Than when he started singing it seemed like he was just fooling around.
At the end you could see the old Earle come out.
Am I mishearing it or did he have to cut the reference to Charlie on the last verse?
I learned a thing or two from time
I guess they weren't so keen on lyrics about blowing up feds. Which you should expect from Steve tbh
God dang old copper head road mane
Its only a Dodge!
Moonshiner song
