#simracing #iracing #nordschleife
I was the car in front of you, was curious if you were recording it ;-)
Mind blowing, all of your hyper-realistic videos are, but sheeesh! I've never seen iracing look so good!
That sensation where the puddle pulls your vehicle in the direction of the puddle you hit is super important in my opinion. Like you, I’ve never driven a GT3 in real life so I’m not 100% qualified but I do live in a place where it never stops raining so I know what it feels like to drive (and almost die) in the rain. Everything you said about that topic I can agree with
Thats the first thing i noticed too, puddle sensation not strong enough.
They will be updating rain lights. They posted it on X 👍🏾
Racing in the rain is a game changer no doubt. TK loves it and I believe he had a hand in helping with this and Danial Morad says it's very realistic with how the car reacts and how tracks look in the rain. Stay off the rubber line until the last second and avoid puddles.
I had a heart rate stress test done last week and they elevated my HR to 145 bpm on a treadmill during that. It was fascinating watching your HR during this race. It held around 140 for most of the race then jumped to 153 when you had your first spin.
Yeah it was much higher the. I normally get during a race. Concentration levels were though the roof.
On my exercise bike I typically don’t get above about 130 by comparison.
This was awesome. And man, I drool over your rig. I may be able to treat myself to such in not too long. But great driving -- you're a formidable opponent for sure.
I feel the spray is a bit too compact and hence too opaque, of course in real life you almost can't see anything through but you can still slightly discern shapes, it's not smoke after all it's water. Otherwise goddamn it looks good, how the water pools on the edges of the road and in low areas, just wow.
If they postponed the release of rain, would that be considered a "rain delay"
I think more like a rain check 😂
Sorry Will, the fire hose coming out from under the car's A little much , Still love the Madness Engine 😊 , well done keeping it together
I do wish the spray was slightly more transparent, but luckily iracing just teased better visibility of the brake/rain lights on their Instagram page for a future update.
Send it will. great video as always❤❤
Info regarding Rain Lights. iRacing talked about this issue. They stated it will be work on but it is related with their Game Engine and to fix that they need to update Engine as well so it will take some time till we see it. Nonetheless it is an issue there will be working on to give better visibility as the leading car has increadible advantage as of now.
I haven't played for about 2 years, but the only cars I had an issue feeling the loss of grip with was the Indycar at short tracks and the NASCAR Next Gen Car, which actually seems to have been quite realistic because when it first came out, there was no warning and that's exactly what the real life drivers said about the cars, that they would "snap" and it was almost impossible to catch. What I noticed is when I increased the feel of the wheel a bit, a few points above what the tool would recommend, I could feel the weight of the car more which allowed a little more sensation, but it would still snap I just had a basic logitech wheel, so maybe that was my issue, or maybe that's how it was for most wheels, I don't know.
Ive never been so tempted to try iracing. I really need to figure out a better mounting for my pedals. Mine are only staying in place by a box between them and the wall behind and I've had them suddenly get yeeted under heavy braking haha
Another Great VIdeo, Keep it Coming
I think it’s going to be so good when we get some ranked races and people learn to adapt to the new tempo 😀
I can't wait till they figure out that in the sim world u can use this logic of rain to mimic the MEW affect.
In the dry
Thank you for all you do.
where would i even start if i hypothetically want a setup like this in the future? seems complicated to set up. Amazing set up tho!
Im fine with the unrealistic water droplets from spray, my vr performance needs all the help it can get.
The new Tempest is really impressive, but iRacing and even hosted lobbies all seem to obsess with heavily rain soaked tracks. This results with massive rooster tails coming from the cars and making conditions borderline for racing.
They need to mix up the amount of rain and how wet the tracks are, to mix things up a bit instead of just having heavy rain every time.
i'm currently racing the FF1600 and we're getting lightly wet tracks with a variable forecast. So the variety you want is definitely already out there
Aww yes. I've been waiting for will to do a video about this.
For me the biggest issue that needs to be fixed is the Rain light. That needs to be brighter
Hi, I'm a sim racing enthusiast from Korea who enjoys watching your RUclips. I saw your screen setting and recently made a 4k triple configuration. Could you please provide me with the icing option settings?
I still think driveclub has the best rain effects on the windshield
I've been trying this out .... and to my reckoning it's got the best physical feel to it of any rain mod.
Hi will is there any chance you can do a updated settings guide for the graphics for your set up that way i can try and replicate this on my 1440p Triples
Will "divebomb" Ford
🛩️
Ok so I am really confused now.... I don't know where the screen and game start and where is the real life wheel and set up... LOL... it's either only game display or I'm very confused by how realistic the setup is xD
Nurbergreengiantman was one of the easier rain tracks IMO.
Hi Will, can i ask which wheelbase you are using to make this video? Thanks
Will another brilliant video, am i missing some set up issues because no way can i drive in the wet as fast as that, mmm puzzled ???
Have you chosen a wet setup and tyres?
Regarding the puddles you need to remember a wet race tyre is going to disperse a lot more water than a road tyre, it's not going to aquaplane anywhere near as much as a road tyre.
The one i have been waiting for
Rain is part of racing.
Just how did you get that kind of view? i'm new sim racing and planning my build but how did you get that view with your wheel? i'm really lost in how you did that?
There’s a rig tour linked in the video description :)
@@boostedmediaYeah i found it, looks amazing!
I tried gt4 in the rain. Literally impossible
My iRacing crashes 24/7 in rain. RTX 2070 Super here….
brilliant
hi all I play Forza motorsports so I'm thinking of getting this game will I be any good or is it any good this iracing
it looks so GOOD but dose it feel the same
can i play with a controller
@@psychoticrob9464😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s a sim and probably has the best rain physics. And no you need a wheel lol
nah it's pretty realistic
And I thought project sim racings set up was impressive
❤
I hope that they keep the rain away from a lot of classes. I have no idea why people want this or enjoy it.
No...racing in the rain is difficult to say the least.
Your never going to know if it will be a wet race it could say it will rain and be dry and vicer versa
I haven’t jumped in an official yet but isn’t there a weather forecast for each session?
@@boostedmedia there is but iracing have said it may give a wet forecast and be dry all race or dry forecast and get a shower if rain going to be fun
The mist from the car in front looks like jet exhaust. Not realistic. Funny to listen to these iRacing shills orgasm over this.
Love seeing the wobbly visuals of your gloves, lights on your steering wheel and the total black of the rest of the rubbish you have going on. Love your comments, but I would love to see "Racing" rather than talk and nothing.
The most pathetic thing about the rain is how the outer circumference of the wiper liquid just disappears to the same point EVERY time, it grabs the eye, so fake it ruins the whole thing. I can't watch any video through. It's like line/gone line/gone line/gone line/gone, no variance, same EVERY time!
You really have tuned that cockpit setup up well for content, looks even better with rain! Perfect colour grading..
all iracing needs is a do over oe reflections and lighting like thats done with mods on AC, id guess the engine is either limited in that regards or takes a massive performance hit
One detail I would like to see is the observers (crowd) all using umbrellas! That would be a super nice touch haha
I won't be able to unsee that now - thanks! 😅
I'm _loving_ the wet racing. I'm so much more competitive in it than on dry. My driving style seems naturally suited to it. I don't normally win road races, I think to date I have one win in an official road race. This is largely due to my more passive racing style. But since the rain update? I've won three races, two at Nords in GT3, one at Spa in LMP2.
so you dont actually race but just drive arouns the track ?😂
insane! absolutely insane! Your skill, the setup, the game, the modifications shown, mindblowing!!!
Automobilista2 looks better
A friend of me with A LOT of experience racing on wet says before EXACTLY what you say about the unrealistic behavior over the puddles. Well done Will!
Nobody will ever match Driveclub’s windshield effects.
I really had to blow up my driving skills in the real world. I would purposely go into a corner fast, if i knew it had a puddle, hoping upon hope it still maintained, so it would understeer out of the corner or come out so quick, it wouldn’t be a bother. Also where I found if I had too much torque into a corner, it would flip me out straight away. On my analysis, and fwiw it’s seems that they put a lot of physics into thought. Rain used to break my brain. It would require the craziest of types of lines with the real racing in mind It used to hurt a lot if I was going on a straight, the rain would hit my chest and sting. I had F4 and F3 experience too. GT wasn’t too bad, just had to dial in the TC and the power settings just correct… I wonder if you could change dial settings as well. Plus the bias was being changed almost every corner… don’t remember it being so hard on traction in the wet on a formula corner. It either had traction or it didn’t.
It would seem like I had traction for a few odd seconds then nothing and I would go sailing.
Sometimes I got lucky and sometimes I got unlucky.
One time hit a puddle and went for a 360 and won the race still, other time running and out of the blue hit a wall looking at the replay it was so out of character for me, but that’s the nature of rain.
Which motion rig set are you using, Next Level? Or another manufacturer?
The "spray" looks totaly unrealistic to me. Much better in AMS2!
How is the visibility on lower graphics settings? Hopefully lower settings don't have a visibility advantage.
You don't get an advantage. You can't lower the rain settings so there is no advantage to be gained. The only thing helping a bit is SSR which makes the puddles more reflecting and a tad easier to see - but SSR costs a ridiculous amount of fps so I don't think many people will use it.
How do you get the heart rate on the monitor?
Do love your realistic sim video series. I've always wondered, do you use any reshades or anything because it really does look amazing, no matter what settings I have mine it never looks as good as urs. I got a ryzen 7 5800x3d with a 3080 and playing on an LG c1 so decent stuff but the games quality still doesn't look as good as yours
I got 1st place on one of the nurb rain races! SoF was only 600ish tho and nurb is my #1 most well known track. Also it wasnt ranked :(. But ill take the W
Dang, wasn't expecting that twist in the end! 😅 Good showcase Will.
Cheers.
I did a rain race at the ring in the Ferrari, started in the pits because I knew there would be carnage, ended up third. Just was smooth and steady.
I swear you are the only one who can make iracing look like a ps4 game instead of a ps3
I think once the rain lights and spray have been adjusted it’ll be better to race but to just drive it’s fantastic!
I play iRacing and at first I was wondering if it was a real onboard or VR...neat setup
man,his sim racing set up is very awesome! he needs more subs like fr
Great video as always Will. That section was quite tricky last week in the rain. I was really impressed at how seamlessly this massive update was integrated into iRacing. Cant think of another game/sim with a major update like this working this well straight out the gate. Sure...some improvements to the spray are needed but I'm sure they will come over the next few weeks. All in all I think this was a massive win for iRacing!
Do the physics in dry racing at the limit feel different with the advances they had to make to implement rain?
Yeah you suddenly feel like iracing has TONS of grip in the dry after running in the wet for awhile.
Worlds best RainX
Wow, that looks sooooo real in the rain
That setup is absolutely beautiful. You definitely still have room to push i was running 7:28s pretty consistently but there was room for more you just have to push the pedal and hope for the best.
I know everyone's geeking about rain. It looks good, makes for more exciting hi level racing.... but it's still rain. Rain sucks when you're on the grid.
iracing rain is not hyper-realistic, there are no weather effects on visors, and the rain on the windshield is the same if you drive with the wipers off. The track rain effects are good, but the visor/windscreen is very lacking in any realism. The dry line is also predetermined and is not dynamic.
it is definitely dynamically generated, that's their whole shtick. and the graphics are the icing on the cake. It's the dynamic track+weather simulation that's hard to produce, which is why other sims focus on realistic windscreen effects instead
@@IvanRivera-xb3he it's not, if all the cars go around on a different line, the racing line will still appear in the racing line. The feel of the cars in the wet is kinda cool but the graphics are visually lame. "dynamic" is throw around a lot by developers. The track is not dynamic.
It won't. The new dry racing line after long wet races migrates away from the expected dry@@CarlWicker. The dry racing line is generated in the sim by laying down rubber and if you drive around intentionally in a different line you'll rubber that in and the sim will respond. A lot of people have pointed this out exactly as one of the selling points of how this new rain system interacts with the preexisting dry model that iracing has. I say ostensibly because I'm not an iracing dev but the experience of a lot of people supports the notion that the algorithms and variables and inputs for these dynamics exist within this software.
