These are great videos coming from a "90's kid" but from the southeast so I never got to experience this railroad first hand til the merger in 1999. Great pieces of history.
Conrail, at this late date, illustrates how it's people have repaired and restored the broken northeast rail system. No clicketey-clack - nice super, continuously welded rail, fast running trains and cutting-edge locomotives. I need to double-check it, but I think Conrail owned 161 SD40-2's ( the 3000hp six-axle beasts with the long porches ) and they're everywhere in this clip. Plus, lots of new 4000hp General Electric Wide cabs. Ugly, ugly F40PH's and Amfleet cars. Makes you miss those wonderful E-units.

You are the first person I have EVER seen refer to the F40 as "ugly". Wow.
