So they no longer make the 503, can I put a Hirth F23 motor in it instead?

i saw one of these at a pawn shop. no engine or anything on the inside. looks abused. was wondering if it would be worth looking into price wise or would starting from scratch be better. if anyone has any tips that would be great.

The Fisher 202 is a good solid design, building times about 300 hours.
Kit prices about $10,000 - plus engine and build time.
Used they sell for between $5,000 and $7,000. A plane as you describe would have to have the fabric completely removed, and the air frame checked out for cracks damage etc.
It is probably worth between $200 and $500.

@@ultralightnews Thank you very much for the quick response. i am on my way over to check it out. I was a blackhawk mechanic back in the 80's and know nothing about fixed wing but am looking forward to getting back into aviation any way i can.

Is this a light sport or an ultralight?

It is an experimental aircraft in the U.S. if built and weights more than 254 lbs. BUT it is an ultralight if built to weigh 254 lbs or less, which can be done.
In Canada it is an ultralight aircraft.
