What these owners must feel when they look out at their fledgling forest, must be euphoric, I know it is for me...with each new video I embed in my mind the next trees and plants to add to my forest...always a world of information I embrace your enthusiasm and knowledge...and cheers to your efforts and to us Floridians who are your tribe...we can't lose this amazing state...one planting at a time, it's how we roll...!!!

You never filter your thoughts on these chemicals that most people use and dont think twice about. All chemicals should be banned world wide, and not just in agriculture products, but all products. That's a future I want to see. Keep it up. Conscious thinking needs to spread fast. God bless you Pete.

Looking forward to phase 2. The weather may be discouraging, but the mere fact that you're finding these clients who are willing and able to hire you is extremely encouraging. The return on their investment is going to be rapid and delicious and beautiful... and good for all of us and the wildlife at the same time. So, hat tip to your clients too.
I also concur with the others... I only remember one video with audio problems. Cut yourself some slack. Your quality and cinematography is great.

I love farms and that right I am planning to go to Haiti even though it not easy for me. I learn a lot about how to grow up my country with lot of 🌲 and after they grow we can have rain, then our polulation can plants all kinds of vegetables and fruits to survive. I can't stop thinking about where I can found the machine I can use for compost and others materials as necessary for that project. I love to watch this video when a friend of mine I usually talking about how I want to plant a lot of 🌲 in Haiti.
I am crazy to see this and I hope I have the opportunity for my project too.

Pete I love your videos! I’m inspired now to try to start a mini food forest/vocational art educational projects at home. We are going to be trying to apply for some grants as we have been greatly inspired by Dr. Temple Grandin. Vocational arts have been cut throughout the US but we are trying to bring this back for our son, we would love to see educational information on this for families like ours seeking alternative education opportunities.

Hey Ann! Swales rarely apply in Florida due to the lack of slope. We've done a few projects now with these lumped beds and they seem to work well in the rainy season. On this property its the surrounding
development that has caused most of the standing water not allowing it to naturally run off.

What elements or ideas/theories of permaculture do you use in your projects the most? I live in North central Minnesota and have wondered what might work best here using native and some plants like apples, etc. I have such a wide range of soil, drainage, etc plus I have cattle. I just don't like anything that is invasive. I struggle with pussy willow and quack grass. I have become hesitant to use elderberry for the same reason. Thanks for sharing your projects. :)

McCoy's Oak Hill Farm I’d suggest taking a look at what Mark Shepard has planted on his food forest. He’s a similar growing zone. Chestnuts, Hazelnuts, Mulberry, Raspberry, Asparagus, Apples, Elderberry, Korean Pine (for pine nuts), locust, basswood, etc.... . It’s been several years since I’ve been up to his place but that is what I remember off the top of my head.

    • @McCoysOakHillFarm
      @McCoysOakHillFarm 6 лет назад

I looked him up if he is in SW Wisconsin he is even way warmer than I am with longer growing season. In my neck of the woods we can easy hit 30-40 below zero for up to a week at a time, so I am more borderline zone 2-3 with an actual growing time frame of about June 1st to maybe mid Sept.
I was thinking more in the principles and theories than plants. I should have worded my first post differently. Anyways, I will watch some of his videos to see what he says about design, placement, theories, etc. Thanks for mentioning him. :)

While it's inspiring to see this project come to life and we need many many more to make real change.
The financial costs of what your doing here is just not practical for the average person to do.
It would be great to see something like this accomplished on a more reasonable budget.

SugarCreek Homestead- Pete has an extensive library of YT vids including some really cool smaller projects that are more affordable... but he's teaching us how to do it ourselves too, which is always the most affordable path.
This is a great community. Don't know where you are geographically, but if you ask for help, there's a good chance someone will have cuttings or seeds to share.
Most of us are in the same boat... dreaming green without the budget to hire the team.

How do we reverse the damage we have allowed to happen with Lake Okeechobee? That is a rhetorical question but also an important one. The last thing Americans need to consume is sugar. WE need to get You Tube vloggers together to make a difference. A meeting of the minds to get the word out to people we need to change how we get food and what kind of food we eat. It is a big order to fill but we need to start somewhere. I am asking you to thnk about this and talking to people you know. Our children deserve better.
