Hello! I am here in Dekalb County and I am literally walking out the door to register my school in another state. I also am working on a school here in the metro area. It's very nice to see other educators like you and I who are seeing the blessing of being an entrepreneur while doing the one thing we love and that is teaching. So thank you once again!

I am a second year teacher working on completing the requirements needed to get my 5 year license. After that , my school can take flight! I am going to have a wall of champions in my school and your name will be on it! Without your help, I would still have made it happen, but taken much longer! you are the reason my school will be in existence within the next two years! Our students need passionate educators that will actually take a stand and do what’s right for the sake of those students who are put to the side or forgotten about simply because the way they learn or where they live ! Every child deserves the right to an equal education and I will do what it takes to make that happen! Thank you thank you
Im 18, and im thinking of, or rather playing with the idea of starting my own school one day. I really do enjoy the idea of giving them a place to learn more than the standard curriculum, to teach martial arts, life skills, past history, modern day events, taxes, the way the world we CURRENTLY live in ACTUALLY works, How the system we all use everyday works, i mean hell most US citizens dont even know their own rights! and yet when i was in school and i asked i was told as a child i had none. and beyond that teach them how to deal with the day to day of life, and the different philosophies (Taoism, Stoicism, etc) and ideas one could view the world from, without telling them any one way is how it SHOULD be down or HAS TO BE done. it may sound outlandish but the show 'Assassination Classroom' was what actually gave me this idea. and most importantly with GOOD teachers who see the class not as a unit of statistics or numbers, but instead as a room full of individuals. anyways im just playing with the idea, and this video was certainly informal :))

@MsJoyneredu awww…you can do it!!! The journey hasn’t always been easy, it’s a continual prayer project, but it has been the most rewarding thing EVER as it relates to my career.
I don’t know as much about that process unfortunately. I would love to turn my school into one. However, I am intimidated by the process. I will have to have a team of like-minded people who were interested in doing the same thing.

Local private schools tuition in my state is about 6K. How does someone survive with a small group of kids trying to get a school started? I'm trying to figure out if I would even be near to breaking even to what I currently make as a classroom teacher with health benefits, retirement etc. Thank you for your time.
That is for sure a concern in some places. You for sure have to work out the numbers before jumping into this. Also, like any business you can expect not to make huge profits the first couple of years.
This just depends on your business model and where you are. This is a business so you will have to either charge tuition, get state funding (assuming you are in the US), or get grants.

What would you suggest for someone who does want to start a public charter school? Can you do a video for that?
