How to start a private school: Over 8 years ago now, I started my own school. As a special education teacher, I felt my students really had little chance of closing the academic gaps they came to high school with. Can you imagine kids who have the ability, but still was reading at an elementary level? It broke my heart, so I start my own school to do things differently.

Do you have any videos going into depth on business licensing? My Cousin and I are going into business together. We are both teachers . We are Trying to figure out what would be the best license for us going into business together.

Henry Ford said, "Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs." This emphasizes the need for thorough planning. Apply this to any business idea or project by breaking it down into small, manageable tasks. If there are areas you're not familiar with, such as business licensing, note "Research business licensing." Organize these tasks in the order they need to be done, assign estimated start and finish dates, and start turning your dreams into reality! Consider using project management tools like Notion or Microsoft Projects to create templates and manage your project effectively. This approach will help you stay organized and track your progress more efficiently.

I have a non-profit tutoring program. We lost our brick n mortar location during the pandemic. We want to specialize in a program geared towards children on the autism spectrum.
Love the idea! You are closer than you think with already having your business structure in place.
Love this!!! Have you thought about doing an online program in online school my online program launches this September. I know I have two children on the spectrum and specifically they learn better online. It’s less distracting there and they’re comfortable setting their home.. you should look into it. I don’t know if that something that you’re interested in but it could be a step to get you where you want to be. That’s what I’m doing now I’m taking different steps. hoping that I’ll get my private or charter school in the next couple years.

I have a Pre-K Academy. This summer a summer camp and in fall Online school. I’m hoping within the next two years I have an actual private or charter school. That is my goal that is my dream. That is what I’m working towards. I love this post Thankyou.

@@CindyTheLDCoach I’m looking at some of the info required on these forms they want when starting a charter in Tennessee. It’s a little intimidating, but I’m going to do it. I’ve given myself 5-7 years, primarily because I find a company willing to give me $137k a year until the school opens. The building I want to acquire was once a school and has 59 classrooms. It’s $850k. I have to find my advisory board. Sorry for bombarding the comment section. I just want this to be successful

i would like to open a public school for both special education and regular education students so that i can make a great paycheck it may cost hundreds to thousands of money for my public-school business. and i love learning thank you for the videos

Great advice . That let’s go stage is the scariest stage but starting slow to build up to it makes a lot of sense . 😊and makes my goal seem more attainable .
You got this!!!! Don’t give up, you are needed more than you know. And…yes it can be scary, but that is also why I list finding and maintaining community with others doing it is so important. They will know exactly what you are going through and maybe be able to help doing the rough times or at least be a listening understanding ear.

Due to my sons special needs not being met and other parents I have encountered that have had to pull their children out of school. I want to start a school for kids with special needs and learning disabilities, I do not have an educational background but have experience with homeschooling and unique ideas, a vision of what our kids need. I’d like to apply for a government grant but wanted to ask if you had to have educational background to do so?

That is the hard part. My suggestion is to approach some churches or other non profits/orgs and see if you can expand into one of them to increase your enrollment while saving and/or applying for a line (I don’t suggest that, me personally).
Also check into the vela education fund.
Dreaming stage
Keep dreaming, but make sure you are putting in all on paper. It’s so much you can do in this stage with no pressure…just your time and imagination as the investment.
Do u have to have a degree to buy a private/boarding school??$$
No, however, most reputable accrediting agencies would want you to hire a principal who has at least had a masters degree in any field.
