    Forts is a physics-based RTS where foes design and build custom bases, arm them to the teeth and blast their opponent's creations to rubble.
    Build an armoured fort in real-time and arm it to the teeth. Collect resources, develop your tech-tree, unlock advanced weapons to target your opponent's weak points, and feel the satisfaction as their fort comes crashing down.

    i think the amburulo test ai is genius, AT LEAST in the context of the tournament. it's a benchmark that weeds out all entries that cant achieve a certain level of quality and thats why i love it!

    To deal with the issue mentioned around 3:14:00 about no incentive to kill an opponent when they're locked down you could give points. 1 point for a win and 1 point for each destroyed core.

    Seeing as the AI is basically just a build order (linked list) of 'things at location', you could have an AI that can manipulate the build order and/or the list of 'things to be built'.
    Programmer2Programmer I'd say 'think of DOM-Tree manipulation' and your typical JavaScript manipulations.
    Naturally a programmer would have to still build the various structures, as the AI would just 'pick&place', and can also define variants, i.e. branches. You would also group up items. f.i. a platform onto which you place your cannon.
    It could also change the ordering so you could change which gunner get's built so it does not soft-lock.
    Deformation would be solved by not being able to place a structure which in turn removes the structure from the list (or disables it for a while)

    22:22 ... Is the core of the top left base undefended at times and not being hit by the opponents snipers? I thought it hit once, but only when shooting at a weapon and not ever targeting the core itself. (edit: It did end up getting taken out, but I'm not sure if it was targeted specifically or if a weapon was targeted and the core was collateral damage.)

    I love the AI matches... but I hate that it's 100% about luck and not so much about skill. It just depends who you get matched up against and which method that team chose vs which method you chose. Can win or lose completely by luck.

      Ye, it would be great if someone would put an AI that can adapt but probably to hard to make

    • @deucedeuce1572
      @deucedeuce1572 11 месяцев назад

      @@yoav.kats6328 Yeah. Believe it or not, it actually wouldn't be as hard as people realize. It's entirely possible with neural networks and I've been very surprised that nobody has done it by now. It's 100% doable though and they could definitely make better AI's than with the method they've been using (the build order method with priorities). It's still cool to watch this method though and I've definitely learned a lot (so I'm glad they have it).
      I still think luck would have a whole lot to do with it too, because if you pit 2 AI's against each other and one wins, it does not mean that it will win again... and it would still boil down to which team picked the better random attack methods/weapons. I can't think of the right words/terms at the moment.

    • @deucedeuce1572
      @deucedeuce1572 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@yoav.kats6328 Sorry, I forgot to mention also that I think it would be good if each team got to make 1 move once per match or once every 5 minutes or something like that. That way if they get "soft locked" or "hard locked" over something stupid, they can fix it and move on without losing unfairly over flaws in the systems design. (Although it has led to some good and creative solutions to design their build orders in a way that won't get soft locked or hard locked.

      The problem is that in forts, this doesn’t exist. Without a drastically different AI mod, networks are impossible to implement in forts. The ‘ai’ simply follows a build order identical to it’s recording (made by watching a player and coping them), and then utilizing the weapons it has to shoot at targets

    • @deucedeuce1572
      @deucedeuce1572 11 месяцев назад

      @@emmetmichigan8188 Yeah, that's what I'm sayin. It could actually be done with a fairly easy 3rd party program that runs independently from the game. I'm sure it's a little more difficult than I''m making it sound like... but I think it could be done fairly easily with neural nest (which are not even AI...and I guess if we're talking about real AI, then that would be extremely hard to make... but starting off with an already programmed AI (template), I think it could be very easy easy to teach them how to play (or teach themselves how to play).

    Kinda surprised no one has attempted to counter Von Eagle's super low, steep-angle, "attack the core from below" tactics considering they have used it in various AI tournaments over the past two years. Like no one defends their base from below. It's the human thinking bleeding through AI programming. No player would ever try that tactic because it would be a waste of resources so no one builds that defense, but that's why Von Eagle's tactic is so effective. Because they are actually thinking outside the box.

  • @Ellerion2

    About the learning AI - it getting good might eventually make it too good for the player to defeat. At that point the game becomes unplayable.

    • @jektim6825
      @jektim6825 10 месяцев назад

      Firstly we are at this point alrady where the "Ultra-hard AI" can only be defeated by the best playrs if they know the build and can find some waknss to exploit with Buzz for example and softlock it this way.
      Secondly Cronkhinator is basically modding the game and programming the AI to shoot more accurately or smarter so no learnig atm and it is not implemented in vanilla Forts.

    With Graphene and carbon nano-tubes, the ability for paralyzed people to help and walk again is a real possibility. Rats in labs have been paralyzed with spinal injuries and then had their limb movement almost 100% fully recovered simply be placing graphene particles in the spinal cord at the break, which allowed the electrical signals to continue down the spinal cord when they would normally be stopped by the damage/scar tissue. I hope the message makes its way to anyone whom is paralyzed. (The technology exists now in several forms to help paralyzed people walk again, but they're just not using it... and the same is true for those who cannot speak, like those had throat surgeries from cancer and other injuries like that. They can take the signals either from the brain and/or directly from the signals in the throat muscles. In fact, these signals can be picked up from a distance and modern technology can pick up these signals and hear words that are not spoken out loud. This is especially true for "near-field" antennas and cell phones that have them. This is no lie and no conspiracy theory. The technology exists and so do the patents, and the abuses of technology/power. I just pray more people get educated, so that we can put an end to it and to develop the technology and methods to protect us from it.)

    • @deucedeuce1572

      @@wildwyatxbox Not compared to other surgeries and procedures. In fact, it could very well be an extremely inexpensive procedure (like getting a Nerve Block done or like getting an Arthrogram). You go in, get the injection with the help of x-rays and go home the same day (and in time may have to get more than one injection). From what I could tell from reading the study is that is all they did to the mice and although the mice never walked absolutely perfect again after the infections, they did walk and they walked fairly well with only one injection.
      Also, graphene can be made at home now very easily and is a very, very inexpensive material to produce. Just like Aluminum was more rare and expensive than gold, but is now a common and inexpensive metal, graphene is an inexpensive material... and it can be made at home without expensive equipment). Which cannot be said for aluminum, because it requires insane amounts of electricity to reverse oxidation from the aluminum ore).

      @@deucedeuce1572 Even if the graphene is easy to produce and make into the form needed, it will still cost dozens of thousands.
      No matter who makes the stuff, Big Pharma, government, etc, they will jack the price sky high. Just look at braces. It's just shaped metal, yet it costs several thousands to get them.
