The timing of this video is hilarious. I fall into the category of ‘already bought it and it’s sitting on my shelf’, but a couple of weeks ago I picked it back up and have began a much stronger second attempt with the hope to make it through this time without life getting in the way. Thanks for the encouragement and reminding us of the benefit of the workbooks/this type of study. To anybody considering buying, the preflop and postflop workbooks are of fantastic quality and are logically structured, step-by-step and easy to follow. One of the best resources out there, hands down and worth the price completely. It literally is just having the time and determination to power through them. James, thank you so much. You’re a legend and you’ve helped me with my poker journey since I started playing at 18. Still watching 6 years later.
The more and more equity calculations you do, whether hand v hand, hand v range, or range v range, the more you'll be able to intuitively estimate your equity in a variety of spots in actual games. And being able to assign a rough number to your equity in a hand at any particular moment is surely useful for your decision-making, especially in tight spots where going on "feel" alone might lead you astray.
I just started the video and my first thought is that the email writer hasn't spent much time learning another language and doesn't understand the sheer value of nuance. Not to poke fun, but perhaps at the start of the book there should be a preface that says "This book will help feel players hone their feelings and sharpen their instincts" I'm still working on your Preflop workbook, for the last two months I have been on call, working 16-20hrs a day. Thankfully that's slowed down now and I look forward to getting back my studies and back to the tables. Thanks always James! May you have a Happy Hanukkah a few days early.
Having a deep understanding of equity is very beneficial. It’s the difference between a profitable bluff or call or raise vs an unprofitable one. You can’t understand range advantage AND nut advantage without this and understanding nut advantage (in addition to range advantage) is important for bet sizing and actions. Turn and river bets are what makes and breaks winrates IMO. Picking up 1bb/100 is huge in cash or MTTs and small edges can give you that.
If you're a beginner or just don't feel like using much brain juice, simply buy in short stacked. It's easier to learn how to play short stacked and then expanding from there. 🤔 To be fair though, I've bought in short stacked the last 3 times I've played 1/2. Got my stacks in good all 3 times, my AA vs TT, my AA vs KQ, and my KK vs AK, but lost all 3 times. This happens so don't let it shake you up. And on the positive side, I'm only down the minimum during these awful bad luck streaks. Yay poker!
I'll be honest, this video convinced me to buy both Pre-Flop and Post-Flop Workbooks. I bought the GTO Poker Gems from Amazon and have been loving it but I do want to say... I didn't manage to get to it immediately after buying it and once I did I found out that several pages are detached which left me disappointed. the other day I was on a plane reading it and one of the pages literally fell off.
I'm super sorry to hear about the printing issue. Unfortunately, Amazon handles 100% of the paperback printing/logistics, and I have zero control over QA on the actual printing process. Can you reach out to Amazon support and have them send you a newly printed one perchance?
@@ThePokerBank by the time I actually started reading the book, which was several weeks after I bought it (did as soon as it came out), I guessed it was too late to contact Amazon. I'll try some DIY with glue, no problem. thank you for your reply and looking forward to checking the Workbooks.
Hello sir, I've just started playing online poker last month and sometimes the time is not enough for me to think the hand through and tbh mostly every hand I play is not thoroughly thought through and mostly it's just intuition, it's really getting in my head like "maybe I'm not smart enough for this" "I'm too slow" "I'm dumb I think I should just quit" things like that, I just wanna ask if u have any way I can improve my way of thinking because I really want to try and make a living out of poker, that's my main goal
Like your videos and style. I have ordered the Poker Math course to get things started. I have one question, which may be a bit naive. I am a small stakes player and there are more than a few loose cannons at many tables. How does the math and theory apply against players who can be unpredictable? Thanks again.
The paperback is full-color, yup. Sorry to disappoint you with GTO Poker Gems, full-color printing is super expensive and we couldn't get the pricing to work for GTO Poker Gems (but please use the link to page 1 to grab a digital version of the full-color images!)
Join my free poker math course and see exactly what kinds of exercises are in The Postflop Workbook: www.splitsuit.com/the-poker-math-course
Really good points. The ability to quickly reference these “off table” studies in real time is awesome. Really, really improves your game.
Cheers Eugene!

Nice job Casey! And thank you so much for your kind words =)

Nicely said!

Thank you so much for sharing this.
Hopefully there will be some discount on this book for this coming new year, so I can grab one!

@@thedspenguin The Amazon support window is sometimes much larger than you might think - never hurts to try. Either way, enjoy your exploration!
sounds weird, but your book fixed my combo counting leak, thank you 🎉
You're very welcome - good job putting in the work!
Between the preflop workbook, postflop and hand reading workbooks in what order of books should I work through these books?
Preflop > Postflop > The hand reading workbook related to the game you play the most. IMO.

Cheers George! The math and theory still applies, it's just that ranges can expand quickly and should have an "idiocy buffer" baked into them =)
Hey, could you recommend the best app for online poker world wide. Im kinda new in this space and i want to know who gives the best deal.
Since Black Friday I've avoided making any online room recommendations =(
Is the Amazon paperback version full color? I was disappointed GTO Poker Gems was printed in black and white.
yes. (James mentions this around 9:38)

Did you write that to yourself?
