Assistant Chief Bob Morris of the Stamford, CT Fire Department.
Turn of River Fire Department in Stamford, CT uses this modified gated wye for tanker fill operations on Tanker 68. The wye has built in bleeders which allow for a quick fill operation.
The engine company feeds the gated wye which then hooks directly into the direct tank fill. Once filling is completed, they shut the tank fill valve and close the gated wye. Then the bleeder is used to drain the small amount of water left in the line. The engine chauffeur doesn’t have to keep charging and shutting down the fill line because the bleeder valves do all the work. This speeds up the fill process to ensure a consistent water supply. This modification was done by the Stamford shops using collars provided by the valve manufacturer. #nationalfireradio #apparatusinnovation

This man is a perfect example of why career departments should not be stopping their guys from being on multiple departments
