Nebraska Cornhuskers and Fighting lllini are our favorite teams as a family and we go watch them play the most! We also like the Michigan Spartans and Tennesse Volunteers. My personal favorite is the Army Black Knights and Navy Midshipman. I love the Army vs Navy Game, it is my favorite game all year! It’s the best! ❤

Have you watched the end of the Stanford/Cal 1982 game, a.k.a. "The Play"? There's a book called 'Five Laterals and a Trombone' about the game.

The play at 4:00 is a fake Statue of Liberty play. Oregon did it earlier in the game, with the handoff that you thought took place. That would have been a proper Statue of Liberty. The second time is what you saw, the fake one where the quarterback kept it and ran it in himself.

Teams play a chess game of Offensive and Defensive schemes to deceive the other sides plans. Every Offensive play has several contingencies that depend on the Defensive alignment or reaction to the Offensive alignment. At the same time the Defense has contingencies that depend on the Offensive alignment.
Offensive players have responsibilities to block, rush, or pass and the Defensive players also have either a player to focus on or a "zone" of the field to cover. In the seconds before the ball is snapped each side can call adjustments to those responsibilities as the Defensive Captain or Offensive Quarterback "read" the other side and shift assignments to second, third, or fourth options.
All teams have staff that 'scout" their opponents' games to identify the various schemes and alignments over time so when their teams meet, there are key indicators of potential plays. Teams practice ways to counter the things that the scouts reveal.
Players are so quick to react that some of the deceptive plays work so well. The coaches take into account the game situation, score, time remaining, what down it is and how many yards they need for a first down and trends they see during the game. If they see a player that shows the tendency to do something, they call a play that runs or passes exploiting that players weakness. These trick plays usually use mis-direction or delay in movement so that their opponents are reacting in one direction because of the fake or delay and then the ball is run or thrown into the vacated area.
From a long view you can see players run to different parts of the field to draw away the defenders and leave areas open that another player unexpectedly goes into. Trick plays usually show players reacting to what they see which opens up undefended areas that the planned offensive play exploits.
It is a complex chess game.

Regarding the guy laying down, he is on the far side of the end zone from the visiting team bench, and the field itself is not flat, it's domed to a degree, so they probably couldn't even see him, no matter what color his uniform was.

I grew up in Boise and Boise State went from a nurse's - teaching college in 1892 to a 2 year co-ed school in the 30s then either won directly in a playoff various college - University championships as the school grew Going from Jr College, and to college to University to full FBS University (essentially 4-5 different divisions with FBS being like your premier leagues for ya'lls football). Or "lost" by winning the final bowl game but losing in a pole-style ranking (happened in Division 2 in 71 and in the big leagues before the current playoff system 2 perfect seasons in 2006 and 2009.). Or in some years ( winning one or several poles but losing others, again due to no playoffs. Being far smaller especially almost 20 years ago they had to rely on being sneaky as they tended to be smaller than say an SEC team. That's why they were shown in 2 of the videos. Ironically they won the national championship in a playoff in 1958 as a Junior college but lost in 2006 and 2009 because the highest-funded rank of football couldn't figure out 50 years later how to do what Junior Colleges did in the 50s with a combined total budget (adjusting for inflation) that was less than the travel budget of 1 single SEC team today.

Over here, colleges are part of the university. Like they will have the college of education, college of engineering, etc. These are all universities. I went to UF as did my brother. Go Gators! We were disappointments to our parents. They went to FSU and we grew up going to Tallahassee to Seminole games. They watch both now.😊GO GATORS!

There are about 125 FBS games each week and the average attendance last year was 42, 800 per game (many smaller schools do not have the huge stadiums) so you can see how popular this is live. Add a few million watching from home and you get the idea.

Go Dawgs! I'm a huge University of Georgia fan. They are the back-to-back National Champions and looking to 3peat this year!!!! If y'all are looking for a crazy game to watch, try the UGA/Ohio State playoff game. If you really want to see some fireworks from this year, try Colorado. Those games have been nuts. Loved the video and keep up the excellent work! xo from GA
