Location: Pond Lane, Richmond, Madison County, KY
Figured it was time to get back in the saddle after 7 months of no siren tests.
This thing's days are numbered in case you didn't see the tall T-128 sporting a massive solar panel and lightning rod next to it. Good chance this Saturday was the final test of the Whelen system as the American Signal system has been 100% installed. This site is located within the Boone Trace neighborhood in the northernmost part of the county. Enjoy!
Madison County sirens are tested on the first Saturday of each month at noon.

Nice video! My question is why would a town replace a Whelen with something like a T-128 when it seems to work fine (batting what sounds like scratchy/dying drivers), is far more versatile, can broadcast voice messages and can produce a tone that seems to be specifically designed for testing. It’s a head scratcher to me for sure, but it is what it is I guess.

There are a couple of Clarity hyperspeaks installed on campus. I know there is one directly replacing the Whelen on top of the Perkins building (although it is pole mounted instead of roof mounted), and another one near the Whalin technology complex, presumably meant to be an indirect replacement for the Whelen on top of the Moore building. Interestingly enough, there does not seem to be any replacement for the Whelen on top of the Whitlock building, and the one near Telford Hall was replaced by a T-128

The Whitlock location was replaced with a Clarity in the Commonwealth Lot. The 2904 over by the baseball fields also has a replacement, with a total of 4 Clarity sirens on the campus. The one by Madison Middle (Telford Hall) was never an "EKU" siren so to speak, but rather one of the county units.
