- My bell peppers haven't put on any fruit yet this summer. Here's the surprising reason why.
Welcome to our Plan Bee! After 20 years of successful careers in the Los Angeles area we moved to rural Missouri and are taking steps to become more self-sustaining on our homestead. I break down all the farmy things into small manageable steps so you can start homesteading wherever you are.
We homestead on 2.5 acres in the Missouri Ozarks, and our garden hardiness zone is 6B.

I live in Texas, zone 8a, and I have green healthy looking pepper plants, but no peppers. I’ve harvested exactly one bell pepper all season long and this is my first year to plant a garden. We’ve had months of no rain and HOT HOT temps. I was wondering why I’d had no peppers just tonight so this video came at the perfect time bc I was going to pull them out. We’ve just had a few days of rain and much cooler temps over the past two days so now I will leave my pepper plants in the ground and see if they flower and fruit again. Tyfs!
☺️ I’m glad you didn’t pull them all out! I’m starting to see some peppers, so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Thank you! I needed this vedio...I have no peppers and now I know why! Morgan County Missouri here, was very hot and no rain! Thanks again ~Pam ~
Yep! Hope you get some before the frost. Mine are starting to put on peppers! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yes Exactly what's happening here too! Maries County here.
Ugh. Mine are starting to get some peppers now. Hope you do too!
@@LorellaPlanBeeOrchardandFarm I've have two plants and it looks like I have two coming in so far. I pruned them back a little and I'm wondering if I should check the soil or amend it somehow. My squash is doing great!
@@nomadicwmn6073 I read something today that said epsom salt mixed with water could help peppers fruit more. Maybe check into that.
I am in Oklahoma and the weather is all over the place I am getting hot peppers, but not many sweet peppers Not to mention, late everything is late or not producing. a weird season. Have a blessed day! I Wendy
We are FINALLY getting rain. It has been a weird season.
I've so far harvested 4 very small peppers. ☹ I have 2 small peppers on the plants now and am hoping they produce more before the frost. 2022 has not been a good garden year.
It really hasn’t been a great year. I did harvest some cantaloupe this week that was amazing though. 🍈 And I’ve seen some peppers on the planet, so yay!
Lorella- did you ever get your peppers? I picked 2.5 lbs of jalapeños yesterday but the bells only gave me a few small ones this year. Bummed.
Yes! I harvested 25 nice size bell peppers over a week ago, then another 25-ish this week. Still some on the plants. Hoping they’ll ripen before we get a frost.
We've had highs of 100 in Oklahoma for about a month solid until this week and I've had itty-bitty peppers that will turn red or/and will fall off the plant. I was wondering why they're having an issue. Does this apply to jalapenos, too? Thank you for this video!
I think it’s true of all peppers. 🤷🏼♀️
My peppers took a long time to produce, but it looks like they are coming now. You probably have a month more than I do for your growing season so you may have peppers yet. It's been hot where I am too, but we've had a bit more rain than you. I surely hope you get rain.
My plants are putting on peppers! Yay!!!!
