This video has taught me two things. 1) Thorpe Park has an amazing event management team. 2) It’s best to wait a few weeks before visiting to check out Hyperia!

Honestly, I understand why they're doing it like this but it just sounds like hell.
No way I'm gonna stand in a cattle pen for most of the day where I need to be escorted by guards to have a pee for the privilege of riding Hyperia like...once. I'll wait a few months and come on a gloomy weekday.
I was so excited for opening day. Booked it off work and everything and then I saw this video and thought is it even worth it for one ride on a rollercoaster. No chance.

Absolutely fantastic to see measures like this in place nemesis opening day was hectic and voltrons looked even crazier
Nemesis looked alright tbh, i can't say much cause i wasn't there but the only time i saw people running to it was the second the Galactica entrance opened
in voltron people actually got hurt it was that bad
@@Th3Sm1ler I think Nemesis was fine because of the distance between the entrance and the ride they could just let people figure it out themselves :D Thorpe is so much smaller it would end up worse than Voltron!
@@Th3Sm1ler Yeah Nemesis wasn't bad tbf, people were running but they held a portion of the queue in a pen in front of the scanners, and then you had to scan in. The pen meant there was no pushing from behind. Once you were in a lot of people were running but towers street is so wide it allows them to run round rather than over people. I quick walked and there were no issues.
Thank you, thank you, thank you... I was at Voltron's opening, it was terrifying... I am so glad you guys took notice. It may be a bit of a drag, but everybody gets to ride, enjoy themselves and above all else, go home safely, that's what really matters.
Now I'm even more excited for next Friday!!! Bring it on.

SO GLAD a park is taking safety seriously with risks of guests getting trampled on at other openings lately! Slowly guiding queues towards the ride 👏🏼
So good to see they are taking this seriously - but unless your park gates open at 7am, then please don’t forget to arrange the queue OUTSIDE of the park too…
The easy thing to do would be open park gates for hyperia queueing early doors.
So glad this won’t be a Nemesis scramble or Voltron scrum haha…

Well played Thorpe! After the mess of some coaster openings in Europe over the last year (Toutatis at Parc Astrix and more recently Voltron at Europa Park) I know a lot of people were worried the same would happen again! Looks like you've got it all in hand!
I'm leaving it a couple of weeks before visiting but can't wait to get on this beast!!!
Great to see lots of organisation and planning around the official opening being put into place. Hopefully this will help ensure guests looking forward to riding Hyperia on the day know they will actually get on the ride and what to expect in terms of queues, etc. Fingers crossed for a smooth launch with no technical down time and hope everyone has a great experience.

Best handled, but unless you're TPWW it doesn't sound like much fun.
Stuck in a queue for most of the day being slow marched by security and having to ask to go to the toilet. Best leave it to the really committed.

Having witnessed Voltron opening this sounds like great planning. Considering the number of people will be huge (based on what happened on nemesis retracking, imagine this...) so really impressed by this. Better safe than sorry
The only problem is that Thorpe is so small so there is still so much risk.

@MondoCoasters ahahaha. Let's be honest the whole thing has been outsourced to a crowd management consulting agency but... at least they realised they couldn't make it themeselves and asked for help 😅😅

I won’t be there, but really appreciate this video existing. And I hope a similar video is created for future Merlin attractions that expect busy opening weekends.

The queue line layout seems very technical, just means you maybe able to get on the others rides more quickly than normal

Likely where they have taken the lesson from. I suspect they haven't put this plan in place as a reaction to Voltron, the turn around was a bit quick.
It has a single rider queue, I couldn't ask for more.

OK, so keep left at the turnstiles and the queue is batched from there.. a little like Smiler's opening day and London Eye's peak period queues. Smart move Thorpe! That means that there is also less time for people to be rushing and crushing because they will literally be queuing from the entrance turnstiles. Also smart.

How will the queuing work when the car park isn’t open such as 5-6 am? Will we wait outside and be directed?

I reckon there's going to be lots of new merchandise on the opening day. At the moment, there is a blue t shirt, light green t shirt, and a white sweat shirt in the new logo. I think there's going to be a lot more new items soon. A Hyperia t shirt would be great.

I can see it being operated by a load of clueless low energy teens who were roped in at the last minute but I want to be surprised. They may have pulled in an experience event management firm to help etc. we will see!
