Actually I've found playing Anomaly without aiming for Invictus is pretty boring to me. The sad fact is that after a couple of years and about 40-50 tries, I'm still not getting the achievement. 😂 I play vanilla with only a couple of "bug fixers" mods and can't believe I'm not bored yet, on the contrary, I would say that it's one of the best experiences I've had in a video game in my life... and have been playing videogames for 37 years, since I was 7. 👌
I play games since 8-bit Nintendo and never stopped playing games but for me, Anomaly is the best 1st person shooter I ever played. There is so much you can do in so many ways it's crazy.
Great tips! Wavey is the PowerPoint bullets to Anomaly, the 3 minute impression to the board. The med system is an important mechanic, having a Surv12 and CMS (Stims respectively depending on the mod) midway through the Brain Scorcher is essential. Sleeping bag...sleep reconstitutes the game and are great to use for save. Thanks Wavey!

I've never really been one to watch other people play a game, but I stumble upon related stuff from time to time that I click just because it's something I spend time, killing time with, like STALKER (a guy that migrated to the USA from Ukraine introduced me to the original SoC) and when I found your stuff, Wavey, I hit the sub button and subsequently watched your Invictus playthrough anticipating every new upload to enjoy with my usual morning coffee. I gotta say your commentary, your play style, and your attitude overall are some of the best on youtube. Thanks for putting in the effort to put yourself out there on social media, it has been a wild ride watching your video's. :) My usual loadouts on STALKER are quite similar, but, still my own way of roaming through the zone. It's amazing how diverse the player base and the play styles are in this particular game, as well as all the mods, who could have imagined it would develop into this all these years later. All I can say is, wow. The X64 Monolith engine in one of the earlier "Demosfen" mods was incredible, seems everything in that madness has been polished and introduced to Anomaly at this point. Having the option to make pistols effective at close range (2 to the chest of unarmored Bandits to put them down is incredibly satisfying) has turned STALKER into my go-to FPS when I've got an hour to kill in the evenings after I get in from my auto shop. Keep on uploading, lurkers like me love to see your content even though we rarely comment. ;)
The most important thing I can think of regarding the Brain Scorcher, use mines and IEDs while sprinting your way through, making sure to use proximity. That and grenades, whether you through them to use an underslung one--the shrapnel WILL weaken enemies by a lot, even if they're not totally in the blast radius. Plus, you'll hear one or two enemies shout when you throw nades. Helps with locating them. Monolith love 5.56 ammo, so I definitely recommend taking a Monolith gun like the FN2000 early on, or working up to converting any of the 5.45 rifles to 5.56 before heading to Radar. Also, search any an all purple stashes for tools. Not to mention, scouting areas like Garbage for artefacts, then heading to Wild Territory -> Yantar to sell them. Also, keep mutant parts for missions from Butcher or Ecologists. The good will and money is normally worth more than what you would get just selling them.
Got my first Invictus ach as a Merc, some weeks ago on Efp with max difficulty and that was the best experience with a game I ever had, then I did some speed runs as a loner, and manage to get Invictus in one day :), after dying a lot :(
First spawn, I tried to get fanatic killed by some pseudogs but they chose me instead. Second spawn, went on tourist safari to hunt some boars but while hunting them freaking CATS had to appear. third run, From here on every start was rainy. Second attempt at tourist safari, successfully returning to rookie village until a pack of dogs and CATS attacked at the same time. 4th Run, decided to screw both primary side quest and went on main quest instead. Got BS burned by an electric anomaly in the tunnel (I was crouching, still got damage) and as my leg was completely broken. I couldn't escape the Pulse anomaly in the sky. 5th run, died to one of the anomalies near the entrance of the Farm. I forgot it was there. and that's how you say so yourself, _Maybe its not my day_ 🤬
Lol not quite, there was first the Sin guy with the RPG, and the one that got me was a guy with a grenade launcher. Kept firing at my friendlies after I got my life removed from me
Bro, in a duty run I spent like a month carefully playing to be prepared for Radar. I spent on top tier equipment, armor and a 4 man squad. Only to get ambushed by the entire freedom base in army warehouse, lose half my team, waste half of my ammo and took the idiotic decision to push onwards. I died shortly after by a monolith grenade.
I was close to a similar experience, my friendlies started something with the Freedom guys outside the base. I had to quickly get my butt into the Radar to avoid that inevitable mess
id never try this challenge or normal iron man, i dont wanna throw my laptop out the window because i travelled to another part of the map and 6 bandits spawn in my face or i stepped into an invisible anomaly while running form a chimera its fun seeing youtubers doing it tough
Ironman really elevates immersion. That's the feature that stealth induced games took away from us (if you get to play ultra hard difficulty in modern shooter you will be just crawling your way out). It makes you think twice and pay respect to the world around you. Not making you player-god. But if you want REAL challenge: try GAMMA ironman. Dude.. Finding A gun in there will be your most cherished memory of the week
Just completed Invictus myself. Was very hard. I played it on EFP, and I can confirm you can do it with warfare active aswell thanks to the Alife mod. It is a bit cheesy though, but it works. Took me 13 attempts in total. Thanks for the tips in this video, was a massive help. I also learned the hard way, that if you do go about it with companions, do NOT give them any explosives or weapons with high damage. If you decide to do it with warfare active, I can recommend sending cannon-fodder to secure most parts of the zone where you know you will be walking. I played as freedom because they are only against 3 factions and 1 of them is never seen. (military.) Again, this video helped a ton so big thanks and cheers!

@@WaveysGamingAdventure Gonna be honest, I kind of abused it a bit too. Always had a veteran squad or two to follow me about. I found out helicopters HATE loners so that wasnt really an option after it turned on strelok. But I did cover pripyat, radar, outskirts, cnpp, yantar, red forest, jupitor & zaton with novice squads so I'd practically be able to have a stroll to my objectives.. Wasn't that simple, but I feel like it did something in theori. At the end it got to the point where I was crashing like crazy thanks to too many novice squads on the map. Also gonna be honest, money on kill made me a millionare when I left radar. :D
it has been a year and i'm now doing the invictus playthrough. The Ecologist start helps a lot, as me being the psychopath I am used the neutrality towards Mercs to murder them while using the get the tracker side mission to loot a M4 off a dead ecologist. I have 2 questions: 1. I know it said no gameplay adjustments but does fast travel count? Heard people could complete Invictus with that enabled yet doesn't invictus say not to touch gameplay settings? 2. It says "never die twice". I took that to mean that in Ironman Wish Granter Mode, dying (n-2) times where n is your number of wish granter lives ends the invictus run. Does that mean I can die multiple times and still complete Invictus, as long as I don't die twice within 24 hours (as that's the minimum time required for a life granter refresh)
I don’t believe fast travel affects it, but I honestly don’t remember exactly. You just cannot change any difficulty options whatsoever. And i do not know about the life granter mode. Dying no more than twice means just that. I accomplished it while dying once. I played with the ironman mode set to 2 life.
Hey Wavey, I have a question for you or anyone else here who knows. What addon do you use for these weapons and action animations like sprint or picking up items? Since I have vanilla Anomaly I'd like to know what mods/addons give you all these great looking weapons and attachments like the AK-12 etc. My game has simple looking models, simple attachments and basically vanilla weaponry. So these would really improve my experience. Thanks in advance!
at leqst your friendlies showed up in cnpp, mine didnt and i had to solo it all the way tot the monolith shard, with groks ballistic overhaul it took me about 600 ap round and 150 ap slugs
Hey you said that i need to turn my headphones loud but wouldn't gunshots also sound very loud you know, i mean when i keep my volume at the minimum they are still loud to me. Is there any addon which can increase the sound of anomalies without actually increasing the sound?
Hmmm nothing that makes specifically Anomalies louder. I used Dark Signal which re-balanced audio levels for everything. But their gunshots were very loud
The fact that you get better condition items on bodies in dark signal made it too easy for me. I was able to fully repair a nosorog right after disabling the scorcher :D

Another tip: sell BaS guns to a technician/repair man. They'll actually pay weirdly more for them and you can actually get rich off of them. You can test this out for yourself.
I'd like to see you try the escape from pripyat pack. Play it on a hard difficulty. Just to see how you'd play VS me. I prefer the EFP pack to play warfare mode with.
EFP feels so bloated and unfun progression wise. It plays like every other other modpack while doing it worse. It doesn't even feel more like Tarkov than other modpacks like GAMMA. Just the same core mods everyone uses but with inexplicable additions and differences like desaturated colors at low health, a fucked economy, pointless icon and hud changes that don't even correlate to Tarkov, etc. I just don't see a point in the pack.
@@MintyLime703 The worst part about anomaly is the best part. How many mods. It could take a person forever to make a great mod pack that is compatible. At least stuff like EFP has most of the QoL mods working including the warfare stuff. I enjoy it. I don't even try gamma. It said not to play with warfare. I don't know how Wavey plays the story so many times. I played it once, almost vanilla, a few hand picked mods for QoL. Now I mostly play EFP warfare if I play the game.
My favorite part is how at any moment you can come across a bug that completely kills your ironman save. My current GAMMA save randomly started this bullshit where blowouts kill me no matter what; shelter doesn't do anything. I'm forced to use debug every time a blowout occurs. I would've probably been done with Stalker for a while again if that was an ironman save.
Sorry my friend, I'm not sure. This was using an older version of the Dark Signal Modpack. They had included a ton of different things, and I don't remember where the hand models would be from
The explosives from mortal sin in generators are from landmines. Stick on the road when you get to the end of that mission, don't run towards the walls, lookout for landmine signs.
See I love a challenge but I have a hard time justifying Invictus because the amount of bullshit in this game. For example shooting a dog point blank with a shotgun should by the laws of physics at the very least slow it down. Not to mention the bad design of certain things. There are so many times I have spawned into an area only to have a controller spawn behind me in a place I can't get to because it is outside of the map then when I go to throw a grenade at it I get the 'move to next area?' message so I can't do anything. Not to mention the random stutters that can happen. Nothing like running from a pack of dogs, turning around to shoot one with your shotgun only to have the game freeze for a second then unfreeze and the dog is eating your leg off. Or better yet you get to the quest to find the documents in that lab under the outskirts and they don't spawn in but you can't make them spawn in with debug because that invalidates the achievement. For all these reasons I can't justify doing it. It just seems like too much effort for something that is at the end of the day arbitrary and I feel like my time could be spent better doing something else.
Invictus itself is really an end-game, "I've beaten this a dozen times", kinda challenge. But Ironman mode itself is still something interesting. Best way to describe it is that Ironman turns it from a game to an experience. You'll feel really.. mortal.. if you get what I'm saying. Changes the way you think about things quite a bit.

If u start with debug, but never use a console and simply turn off the debug after an hour, it will ruin invi run? I totally forgot i had it on
Yup, it invalidates the run to have Debug Mode enabled at any point

Mutant packs are tough. The bane of my existence in this game are the dog packs.

This was using an older version of the Dark Signal Modpack. They had included a ton of different things, and I don't remember where the hand models would be from
The explosives from mortal sin in generators are from landmines. Stick on the road when you get to the end of that mission, don't run towards the walls, lookout for landmine signs.
That time was a guy with a grenade launcher, but nonetheless yes the landmines are particularly dangerous.
Tip 1, if you see a chimera, hide+run.

Playing with ironman mode on are always a must in my gameplay it really give you the feel of mortal awareness wherever you walk in the zone....

Yes. For this i used an early version of the Dark Signal modpack. One that didn’t modify the vanilla game elements too much.

See I love a challenge but I have a hard time justifying Invictus because the amount of bullshit in this game. For example shooting a dog point blank with a shotgun should by the laws of physics at the very least slow it down. Not to mention the bad design of certain things. There are so many times I have spawned into an area only to have a controller spawn behind me in a place I can't get to because it is outside of the map then when I go to throw a grenade at it I get the 'move to next area?' message so I can't do anything. Not to mention the random stutters that can happen. Nothing like running from a pack of dogs, turning around to shoot one with your shotgun only to have the game freeze for a second then unfreeze and the dog is eating your leg off. Or better yet you get to the quest to find the documents in that lab under the outskirts and they don't spawn in but you can't make them spawn in with debug because that invalidates the achievement.
For all these reasons I can't justify doing it. It just seems like too much effort for something that is at the end of the day arbitrary and I feel like my time could be spent better doing something else.
Invictus itself is really an end-game, "I've beaten this a dozen times", kinda challenge.
But Ironman mode itself is still something interesting.
Best way to describe it is that Ironman turns it from a game to an experience. You'll feel really.. mortal.. if you get what I'm saying. Changes the way you think about things quite a bit.
