Studios have to make one 25 minutes episode in weeks, just because some fans can make a 1 minute sequence like this in years doesnt mean they know or can do better than the professional artists.
@@duongnhdn actually what china animation studio's do is they spend - two too three year's making around four too six hours of content and then chop it up into 15 to 25 minuet video's
i have read that the crystal artists were cheap workers from abroad and were paid really badly. You could tell from the first version that was only broadcast online. the drawings had so many mistakes. i can't blame them with this working conditions I wouldn’t also try my best. but what is bad is unfortunately bad.
I feel like crystal wasn‘t fully ready when it got released, it should have taken longer so that they could have fixed the errors in the first two seasons. Fans were really disappointed so they changed the style in the 3rd season and once again in the movie which just made it worse in my opinion.
I honestly have no idea how a fanmade transformation can be better than an actual animation studio. As someone who reads the mangas, this is spot on. Amazing job.

This took 3+ years compared to Crystal's first season especially, which had less than a year and some few months for animation.

@@BeefBrisketBridget I’m not really saying that cgi in anime is bad, it’s more so how they executed it. Precure models for example have excellent CGI and rigging and it really can be done well. However, I think it’s really the style that the chose for crystal that makes it look off. Naoko’s manga style doesn’t really translate well into CGI, and even if it could, it really wasn’t done justice in the crystal transformations. I’m not saying that CGI itself is lazy or bad, it’s just that the way they handled it in crystal wasn’t really good.
(I don’t ever write detailed paragraphs on youtube videos because I feel like it’s never that deep but this deserves one) THIS IS SO AMAZING. LIKE GENUINELY, I could cry dude. everything to the sounds, the animation, the movement, THE EFFECTS BRO. You seriously poured every last bit of your heart and soul into every frame of this, and the little sparkle effect with the nails Is just eye candy, and the ribbons are just so fluid and satisfying to look at. I remember seeing this video a few months ago somewhere else and thought it came from a new high-budget movie or new series but when I found the original and saw it was FAN MADE my mouth dropped. This is just legendary, I don’t think there is a word in my vocabulary to even describe how astoundingly good this is.
This is what we deserved in quality for Crystal. This is straight up amazing and a master piece. And I don't say that lightly, I just majored in graphic design with my final project being an animation. Even the audio mixing is so well done, I can tell you used some Pretty Cure sfx but you made it your own. You should be insanely proud of this.

Even if SailorCrisis was hired, i bet their work wouldn't possibly be as polished as this. When you enter a system you're not in control of every variable. Maybe they hand over the framework with little time left, maybe they demand certain things, etc.

Wow, these 44 seconds are made with probably less than 2% of Crystal's season 1 budget and yet they're infinitely more engaging, clean, detailed and reminiscing of the manga than the whole Crystal anime ever was.
I honestly feel like no one will bother replicating all the dark elements of the manga (eg melting faces). maybe only if a new studio acquires the rights.

Animators aren’t even paid well to begin with. List of stuff that animators suffer through: -Constant bullying and harassment -Poor executives and higher ups. -Struggle with deadlines -Poor pay -Can’t even get to meet their own families once in a while -have to make episodes within weeks. A side note: This fan animation probably took like a whole year to make.

This looks exactly like the manga! With all that entails (including the bad things like completely unrealistic folds in the sailor collar and skirt, stiff and static angles and extremely thin and long limbs). It's animated beautifully and fits the music very very well! The effects are elegant and look very sparkly and magical! Wonderful work!

This is remarkably gorgeous and representative of how SMC/SME should have been if they really wanted to follow the manga art style more closely than just taking some references while deviating from it heavily in every season. May be this is a lot to ask depending on your time and scheduling but I hope that you would you recreate all of her transformations especially more complete Double Moon Crisis and Eternal sequences perhaps with all of the pieces of the costumes coming together one by one.
Aside from the slightly rubbery arm/leg movements, this is absolutely gorgeous and 100% how Crystal should have looked like! You did an AMAZING job and my jaw hit the floor with how accurately you captured Naoko Takeuchi's art style! Well done!

Shit just looks better from a fan's perspective. I swear, if companies would simply just hire fans that love the franchise instead of pro's that hate their jobs. The world of animation would be sooooo much more fluid becasue the fans would pour their hearts into their work and the world would just be happier.
Pro animators have to animate an entire episode in one week sometimes. The issue is often time limit and budget. Just because a fan is able to make a great 1 minute sequence that they spend months on, doesn't mean they can do better than professional animators.
it can be a double edge sword I think, especially in Sailor Moons case where everyone has a different idea and interpretation of the series. Non fans can bring a fresh, no nostalgia blind perspective, fans might have a different idea of what it should look and sound like (read the comments many want this in the 90s style) funfact, the first producer for Crystal, Yuu Kaminoki, and the second director, Chiaki Kon, are both fans of Sailor Moon. Some of the animators from the 90s anime also animated for Crystal and were fans of Sailor Moon, Naotoshi Shida being one of them (his style has changed since the 90s though). Crystal's production in general was a huge mess, no matter if the staff behind it were fans or not.
Pros can actually do an amazing job is the thing, they just don't get paid well enough for it and the working conditions are shit. Even legit fans of the show wouldn't reach deadlines under horrible management.

they didn't have time, it took Sakou months to make the design we know in Season 1 (and during the time the show was airring she was already making tweaks to said design, barely getting solidified by Season 2, only for the style to change by Season 3) while it took sailorcrisis and I 7+ years to design, and in those 7 years, 3 years was for animation.

Despite the amazing effects that were done based on past and present ideas, the "sound" of the crystal which in the old versions were a big part of it was added to this one, and for me that's the best part. Like on Digimon 2020, little things that are NEEDED in order to bring back the feels, and this video did it. Thank YOU creator for this!!

There are MANY examples of Good cgi in anime such as Houseki No kuni from Studio orange and Chainsaw man from Mappa.

This looks exactly like the manga! With all that entails (including the bad things like completely unrealistic folds in the sailor collar and skirt, stiff and static angles and extremely thin and long limbs). It's animated beautifully and fits the music very very well! The effects are elegant and look very sparkly and magical! Wonderful work!

When I see a sailor moon henshin I want to get goosebumps like I used to as a kid and just get drawn into the whole sequence. This...this right here gave me goosebumps and had me screaming at the screen! It was like you tapped into my childhood self and show that the magic of a sailor moon transformation is not dead...the people behind the new ones just seem to lack the passion. This is remarkably gorgeous and representative of how SMC/SME should have been if they really wanted to follow the manga art style more closely than just taking some references while deviating from it heavily in every season. May be this is a lot to ask depending on your time and scheduling but I hope that you would you recreate all of her transformations especially more complete Double Moon Crisis and Eternal sequences perhaps with all of the pieces of the costumes coming together one by one.
Aside from the slightly rubbery arm/leg movements, this is absolutely gorgeous and 100% how Crystal should have looked like! You did an AMAZING job and my jaw hit the floor with how accurately you captured Naoko Takeuchi's art style! Well done!

Shit just looks better from a fan's perspective.
I swear, if companies would simply just hire fans that love the franchise instead of pro's that hate their jobs. The world of animation would be sooooo much more fluid becasue the fans would pour their hearts into their work and the world would just be happier.
Pro animators have to animate an entire episode in one week sometimes. The issue is often time limit and budget. Just because a fan is able to make a great 1 minute sequence that they spend months on, doesn't mean they can do better than professional animators.
it can be a double edge sword I think, especially in Sailor Moons case where everyone has a different idea and interpretation of the series. Non fans can bring a fresh, no nostalgia blind perspective, fans might have a different idea of what it should look and sound like (read the comments many want this in the 90s style)
funfact, the first producer for Crystal, Yuu Kaminoki, and the second director, Chiaki Kon, are both fans of Sailor Moon. Some of the animators from the 90s anime also animated for Crystal and were fans of Sailor Moon, Naotoshi Shida being one of them (his style has changed since the 90s though).
Crystal's production in general was a huge mess, no matter if the staff behind it were fans or not.
Pros can actually do an amazing job is the thing, they just don't get paid well enough for it and the working conditions are shit. Even legit fans of the show wouldn't reach deadlines under horrible management.

they didn't have time, it took Sakou months to make the design we know in Season 1 (and during the time the show was airring she was already making tweaks to said design, barely getting solidified by Season 2, only for the style to change by Season 3) while it took sailorcrisis and I 7+ years to design, and in those 7 years, 3 years was for animation.

Despite the amazing effects that were done based on past and present ideas, the "sound" of the crystal which in the old versions were a big part of it was added to this one, and for me that's the best part. Like on Digimon 2020, little things that are NEEDED in order to bring back the feels, and this video did it. Thank YOU creator for this!!
