Locksmith here: I just did a 2019 Ford Transit and while programming their key fobs the pad stopped working. That made me think what if this is just a fob glued on the side of the door? The instructions are used that worked are as followed: There are three conditions that must be met during this whole procedure. First, driver’s seatbelt must be buckled. Second, all doors must be closed. Lastly, all doors must be unlocked. Invert key turn the ignition on and off 8 times swiftly ending in the off position. If you hear the cluster beep you’ve successfully entered, wireless programming mode. You can then press the lock or unlock button on the fob. You will hear a confirmation beep. on the next fob hit lock or unlock. If you have a keypad hit the 7-8 & 9-0 since it counts as the lock button. If your keypad is already attached roll the window down to hit the lock buttons.
You are very welcome - thanks for watching,. I just finished planning a month-long trip back to Colorado and Utah this coming September. We love our DIY van. Blessings and be safe!
Watch out for the I70 closures at Glenwood Canyon if you use that road thru the Rockies. They had a major rock slide 2 weeks ago , cleared the road, but closed it again yesterday due to more rain. Hopefully it will be open but there are a couple of other routes. Have fun!
You can carefully pry the unit open to get at the battery. Just use a very thin screwdriver blade and work your way around the edges. It's a common 2032 button battery.
From my knowledge, the Transit does not have the option for a factory keypad pre-installed. So instead, when customers want a keypad, they need the wireless model, which is seen in this video, to have the option of having a keypad.
That is true, however, you forgot about the people that looked up the price of the keypad but didn’t wanna pay for the keypad, so they did not get the keypad but they still want a keypad.
Just get a keypad that has its own computer. When you send a signal aka with a keyfob or keypad it just sends a 12v or 5v pulse that you tie that wire into the lock button wire that locks or unlocks your doors on the inside of the car. Can add a keyfob or keypad by doing so, its fairly easy with certain aftermarket products.
I want to put this on my 2014 F150. There is a card that came with the truck that has a master code. Not sure why when it doesn't have a keypad. That keypad you got comes with it's own master code. I would think you would need to use the code that is already programmed into the truck?
I would think so but I just ended up taking everything to my Ford dealer and they did the programming. Sorry I can’t be more precise with my answer for you. I’m sure you could call the parts department at a Ford dealer and ask them about that. Good luck and we really enjoy having a keypad on our Transit.
Charles my friend, I need your help/advise, I just gonna go out for the first time with the trailer that I have been building (I'm behind on my video uploads) and I just find Out that the park "state park" required RVIA stickers So what is your recommendation, what you gonna a do with your van?? that's killing me, I did Not know nothing about that until today... Carlos Cardo
I really have no idea, but someone told me that they put one on their Ford F150. I would call a parts department at a Ford dealership, and see what they say. I honestly do not know.
Thanks. It really is handy. I have never been locked out while away from home, but often I go out to the Transit in the driveway and it is locked and the keys are in the house. So handy to use the keypad then.
High bond value tape pad. The same kind of stuff people attach solar panels to the top of a van. That stuff really really holds. And I’m pretty sure that’s what they do at the factory with the same pad, as well as identifying insignia.
I tried a couple sets of directions I found on van build sites. I could never get it to work. So I ended up having my Ford dealership program it for me while I had it in for an oil change. It cost me $80 or $90, but it’s great having it on the van.
Well . . . I explained that it was impossible to get clear instructions on how to program it , SO I took it to the dealer and THEY did it for me. I did not intrude on the dealer and film them calling for tech help because THEY did not know how to do it. Hardly jibberish.
@@charlesmoman thank you sir for the follow up video. Maybe jibberish was a harsh word on my earlier coment but based on the title of your video (found on a search) made me expect something different.

Very helpful
would this work for a chevy cruze
I think it might be, I found a wireless one a few RUclips videos down. It looks identical.
I love the Psalm that you have on the side of your Transit! 🙏🏾😊

Just curious if anyone knows. I have one on my truck but can people install these on other brands?

I have been all over that. I have an alternate route worked out. I gets texts from the Colorado highway about it. Thanks though.
Best wishes on your trip!
Thank you! 😃
How do you change BATTERY
I do not know at the moment. I believe Ford says it is not replaceable, but some have figured out a way.
You can carefully pry the unit open to get at the battery. Just use a very thin screwdriver blade and work your way around the edges. It's a common 2032 button battery.

Yea people want a keypad but they can't get a keypad then they find out they can get a keypad so they get a keypad and then they have a keypad.

@@charlesmoman So easy you had to pay someone to do it? Hmmm...

I have never heard of that so I don’t have an answer. We are in Moab and having a great time. I hope you can figure it out.
I have a 2021 Ranger does this work on it?
