not sure how i missed this! I use the NLT thin line compact zipper Bible with the filament app as my everyday carry. I get so much reading in on it while waiting for my son to get out of school or waiting during appointments. I wish Holman made a CSB like this.
"Really "nice, "Cuz, I can download this application on my 65 inch curved widescreen, and be sitting on my bed, Filament-Enabled reading my Bible as I glanced at the 65 inch with all the extra information provided through Filament on the screen, "Awesome 👍.
I have the large print thinline in blue and it's become my favorite bible! The thin paper took some getting used to but the line matching really helped. It's nice to have a study bible without carry a study bible! The app has a TON of info! Awesome review brother!
I have the original and what it reminds me of is the NLT illustrated study Bible, but all the study stuff is in the app, which allows it to be a smaller Bible to carry.
Hmm. I'm such a 20th-century physical-book person that I've always skipped over everything related to the filament app, because I don't want to be using an app. This review (third stop down the rabbit hole after this morning's premier video) has me seriously rethinking my stance. So now I want a large-print black-letter version, maybe even wide margin. I now have a lot to think about. Thank you for gathering and presenting all this information. I appreciate you.
Don't you just love the rabbit hole! What I like most about the Filament App is that it's designed to go with a PHYSICAL Bible... so you get the best of both worlds!
I would love to see a comparison of the Complete Jewish Bible and the Tree of Life Version. I have the Complete Jewish Study Bible and use it as an additional resource, especially on matters of Jewish traditions. Lately I’ve seen many references to the TLV.
Messianic Version in the Bible App comes with a list of meanings of names and place names as you read the text. It's distracting to read, but good as a reference.
I did pick up a small pocket size NLT filament Bible I could test out the software before getting anything larger. I don't find myself using it often tho. I tend to go to my ESV study Bible instead ( which I got for $10 because it was missing Psalms ) thanks and take care
@@timwildsmith I didn't even know about the Filament bible until recently. I have the ESV Study Bible, it's a good 5lbs . I also have various Bible reference handbooks. I can see where this Bible can save money.
You can tell the difference in paper quality from the Caxton to the single column NLT Filament in a split second. So noticeable to me. Crackly paper that seems to crinkle and distort all over the place. Not sure I could get over that, even for a cheaper price point.
In my own opinion, I find it better to have everything under one medium, either it's from from the digital medium or the Print Book medium. Shifting from one medium over to the other and back is going to bring strain to the focusing of the eyes. By the way, the Tecarta Bible Apps has everything under one roof and do not need a print media to go along with it. And after a while you will be so caught up with other content media and infirmation in the digital medium in your tablet or phone, that the Print Bible content, which is the Word of Truth, no longer becomes the main source of devotion and attraction in your Bible Sturdy.
@@timwildsmith thank you brother Tim I was going to order that one but on Christian book it said it was glued but since I saw your video I was like... awesome ill ask you and its a sign, I need to get it
Hi im trying to find a bible, at first i was interested with the nlt life application bible, but i think its too heavy and i wanna try the filament version, but do they have same study notes?
I just purchased a Filament bible in the black leather- like but the small icons that you showed are not there. Do you happen to know if Tyndall changed the layout?
If you already have a great physical Bible as well as a good collection of Bible apps with excellent additional resources (i.e. Olive Tree) is Filament a bit of a gimmick?
I have the NLT Filament Bible, downloaded the app, but it will not bring anything up. Just a blank screen...I have deleted and re-added the app multiple times. Any ideas?
Caveat Emptor! A buyer on Amazon questioned the app’s content theology: This is a clever idea, linking the text to the app. The book itself is nicely done, but no different or better than many other Bibles. However, the app is something else, and not in a good way. All the videos, are produced by The Bible Project, are very amateurish and their theology is very strange. For example, their video on holiness defines it as something unique. So they say the sun is unique, and therefore holy, just like God. Really?! This is just one example, and I really wonder what they’re trying to accomplish here. They claim to have degrees in theology but they are not leading people to the truth. Quite the opposite and if you truly want to understand the Bible you should look elsewhere. Sending it back.
Hey Gary. The video mentioned in this Amazon review actually does not say that the sun is holy; it uses the sun as a metaphor to explain God's holiness. I personally love the Bible Project and have been blessed by their content. I think their success/popularity has caused people to be critical of them, but having spoken personally to some of their team members, I can say with certainty that they are great folks who love Jesus and love the Bible. Also... the Filament app contains a TON of content that has nothing to do with the Bible Project.
@@timwildsmith Iʻve not gotten either Filiment Bible or app, but will peruse their website information more thoroughly upon your recommendation. Thanks for all that you do Tim.
The app is seriously incapacitated on a tablet and way too small on a phone and even then only half (at best) of the content is of any value to any depth of Bible study. 1/10.
This is insane. We're so blessed to have bibles and apps like this.
One of my daily carry Bibles! Love the portability and convenience of the physical and the app. Too good to be true.
Nice!!
Mine too! I have the KJV one! God Bless ❤️ 🙏

I have a hard cover version of this. Love it. It really helps with sermon prep.
That's awesome to hear, Ryan!
Thank you, Tim. Appreciate your great presentation on Filiment bibles. I’m using mine now.
Awesome!

Have been using the Giant Print NLT for a month and am loving it!
Nice!!
Thank you for your response. I deleted the app and reinstalled. Then it worked!
Excellent!
Very helpful review.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for this review, need to get using it as just got a bibles with this app.
Have fun!
@@timwildsmith thanks buddy!
Never knew that something like this exists!
That's looks like a really cool way to study the Bible!
It's great!
ok, this is giving my modern life bible a run for its money. Seriously considering this one
It’s great!!
Thank u. Is there a place to take notes within the app?
Thanks for the review. Very helpfull (independent) view. I am interested in an NLT and investigating the advatage of the Filament version.
You're welcome!
Thank you for the great review
You’re welcome, Alex!
I just ordered one today. It will be here on the 30th August.

Very interesting 👌 👍 🤔 😊. I hope they come out with nkjv or even esv
Unlikely… the copyrights to those translations are controlled by other publishers.

dude! I am so pumped to find out that the original filament is a copy of the tyndale select/caxton! Perfect rebind candidate! Thanks a bunch bro!
Oh yeah! The paper is not as great, but still cool!
So is it the same as the life application bible but with added stuff
I'll have to give these a look! Do you know if they're releasing it in the NET?
I have not heard anything about Filaments Bibles other than NLT or KJV... maybe a possibility, but not anytime soon.
hi Tim, please kindly confirm if the Navy Blue Bible on the left at 05:04 is a Standard (not Large Print) please? love the demo btw. thanks
Yep… it’s the standard edition.
@@timwildsmith i meant the right one. Thanks to this great demo, I ordered it. I'm from the Philippines by the way. Thanks. GOD bless

Is this app compatible with a Kindle Fire tablet?

Do you know if I can access cross references through the app?
Hi, is everything in the Filament app based on the NLT? Or is it translation specific?
Thanks 🙏
I wouldn’t say that it’s translation specific.
@@timwildsmith Thanks for the reply and excellent content. I just bought 3 of these Bibles as gifts for Christmas. 👍
Is the Filament app free?
Yes, it's free... but the only way to activate the app is to scan the inside one of their Bibles. As always, dear mother... I might know a guy. 😉

You probably need to contact Tyndale for support.
Tim, do you pastor at the present time? 12:36
I’m a college minister at Belmont University and I’m also on staff part-time at a local church.
Sold!
Yeah!!
Do any of the NLT filament bibles come in black letter? They seem to all be red letter
I think the original Filament single column is black letter.
Does the blue bible have jesus word's in red?
Yes!
How did you get the filament app to go to a landscape screen? I have unlocked rotate screen. I’m on an iPad. Thank you.
That's just the way it looked when I did it.
