Does anyone else prefer reading the verse by verse format in their everyday reading over the paragraph format?
Nothing beats so far my NKJV Macclaren Verse by Verse Large Print. It is beautiful and so easy to read. The blue, spacing and etc is amazing.
I have one also I like it a lot
Wish Nelson released a KJV Maclaren large print without the footnotes
I was at the store read it and had to order one off of Christian books lol
LSB SCR is my absolute favorite Bible. Steadfast Bibles have my favorite layouts of any Bible
I am a VBV guy all the way. I find it way easier to read and immerse myself in the Word. I do because having the verses divided like that makes it easier for me to connect them and put it all together. In paragraph format, I get lost in all the sentences and miss connections.
What is a VBV?
@@wirelesscustomer9973 it stands for Verse by Verse
Verse By Verse
Good choices. I would give a nod to Thomas Nelson I like their classic center column reference verse by verse and the maclaren series most are VbV
NKJV Classic Verse by Verse Centre-Column Reference Bible in Premier brown goatskin, grey leather with blue gilting and leathersoft options.
Time for another 3 Tim video. They are not only informative but very entertaining.
Honorable mention to the Thomas Nelson VbV Maclaren Bible? :) I love that layout, the colors, and the genuine leather, although not premium, feels premium to me! Definitely my "One" choice and rebind candidate. Now, just need to figure out where to get it rebound... :) Thanks as always Tim! God bless!
I was also hoping to see the Maclaren in this line up.
The premium edition is one of my favorite leathers I've ever touched and the block is ridiculously cheap so my wife rebound one for me too.
@@Baker.B.Drew07 Yes that premium addition is VERY nice for the pricepoint. I'm not the biggest fan of the leather, feels too soft and floppy for my taste, but the art gilt and overcast stitching text block? Yes please!
Love the Cambridge Topaz KJV Red letter! 🦬🌳🌳🌳
I have the Topaz in KJV and NKJV.
Great too 5 list. Thanks, Tim.
That is my daily read Bible in the leathersoft. I really only like the VBV Bibles and when I found this one I just couldn't seem to put it down - it was PERFECT!
ESV Stridon all the way for me, my all-time favorite setting.
I love a verse-by-verse Bible for in-depth Bible study. ❤️
me too!
The Stridon and the Allan ESV SCR are the best verse by verse Bibles.
I’m not a preacher, but I really prefer reading verse by verse. It makes exegesis easier for me.
This is awesome! I came specifically to your channel to look for suggestions for a new Bible to use in church 🙂. Thank you so much! As always, your videos are great and I find them very comforting to listen to 🙏
Really nice bibles. I'm finding myself drawn more to verse-by-verse for, like you said, everything but just sitting and reading.
I received the maroon calfskin VBV Bible a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely agree with your comments! It is my first VBV to read from as well as this translation CSV. I am very much enjoying it as my go-to for worship service and Bible class. Thank you for the earlier review. It helped a lot in deciding on purchase.
I've been following your videos (and several others, but I like yours the best!) Looking for my "perfect" premium Bible. I finally ordered the Cambridge Topaz ESV, in dark green goatskin, and can't wait to get it (currently on a 2-5 day backorder)! My "must haves" include ESV, double column, VBV, red letter edition, and this has it all, in a beautiful binding!
I also ordered (for travel), the Cambridge Pitt Minion ESV in black goatskin (would have preferred the brown, but that only comes in black letter edition)! It would have been perfect if it came in VBV, but other than that, it's my perfect travel Bible.
Thanks, Tim, for your wonderful Bible videos, sharing your knowledge (and your collection!) God Bless you, my friend!
Great lineup of your verse by verse bibles!
Topaz is probably one of the best all around bibles.
That Topaz NASB is fantastic, I'd love to get one, but I can't quite afford it right now. And though I was critical of the book introductions, that Allan ESV SCR is also great. But that's much more expensive than even the Topaz 🤦♂ Oh well 😁
Another Great Video Tim! 🦬🌳🌳🌳
Thanks again!
Another great and informative Video... Is there a decent VBV single column option for the NLT?
I think I like the Topaz best!
I’ve been thinking of the CSB VBV since I’ve had my main bible be NASB and most recently LSB.
Ill second the Hollman CSB single column. Thats my go to right now. I have the older goatskin one and its great. If they do print a NASB in that format that would be a preorder for me. Great bible.
I agree. Those are all great!
The LSB ICR deep brown goatskin would be my # 1 followed by original massive preacher's bible from steadfast bibles. There is also original handy size preacher's bible from steadfast. Of course I don't have my ESV Stridon just yet. A few more weeks and my mind will probably change.
LSB ICR has poor build quality.
Please explain how the LSB ICR has poor build quality. @@seanwalsh6649
The CSB Verse-by-Verse Reference Bible was a total grand slam. It makes looking up verses a breeze and it's print is large enough to sit cross-legged with it in your lap. And it's even more amazing for table reading. I wrote Crossway about it a year ago. "You know what would be cool? An Heirloom ESV Bible with a layout matching Holman's CSB Verse-by-Verse."
I like the single column, verse by verse layout. My favorite would be the LSB Handy Size Edition. I love that blue-gray cloth over board cover.
As for the second one you showed, I would say Single Column Reference instead of Side Column Reference. That's because I don't consider the inside margins the sides. If the references were in the outside margins, I would say Side Column Reference, that may be just me..
I like paragraph format as far as reading, but I agree it is hard to find the verses. I wish there was a way to change that, like maybe putting the verse numbers to the side, like the Treveris, or having the verse numbers in bold face. Sometime when I'm trying to find a verse in a paragraph Bible I have to start at the beginning of the paragraph and read it until I get to the verse I'm looking for. I don't have to do that in a verse by verse Bible. That's why I prefer Single column, verse by verse format.
I love a double column vbv!
Yes, two columns and verse by verse 😊
Topaz, if there is a large print with faux leather. I simply can't afford premium Bibles so even if I have to get a hardback, I would. I also like having red letter in the New Testament. :)
Mine are the CSB Wide Margin VBV, the Zondervan NASB SCR, ESV Stridon, LSB ICR
Good choices, Tim. I'm also a big fan of the Cambridge Topaz. But tell me, is the Holman CSB a red-letter edition? Thanks.
An admirable selection, indeed! As a senior citizen on a limited income, and dedicated to the NKJV, I use (in order) the Nelson Classic Verse-by Verse Center Column Reference NKJV, with red chapter headings, red verse numbers, and (yes) red verse numbers for the references and textual notes!; the Nelson Personal Size Reference Bible Sovereign Edition with red accents; and the Nelson Maclaren Series with those beautiful blue chapter headings, verse numbers and (yes) blue bottom of the page verse numbers for the references and textual notes! They all have beautiful text blocks, 2K/DENMARK NKJV Typeface, and are printed in China. Also, I bought them on sale with synthetic leather covers for economic reasons. Thanks & Blessings!🙏📖
What’s the gospel
Crossway ESV Preaching Bible VbV and Holman Handcrafted KJV (& CSB) are extremely good SC options to consider. Both goatskin covers and 36gsm and under $130 on Amzn right now
Okay, I've got the ESV Stridon (in that Desert Camel calfskin, no less!), and I DO plan on going through it later this year; it'll be my Christmas Bible for this year. But for the NASB 2020, there IS a lower-cost edition of their Stridon in the form of the Wide Margin Reference Bible from Lockman (not the 95, though). It doesn't have the premium features of the Schuyler, but it does have the exact same layout (other than the materials after the Bible text; Lockman uses theirs in their release). And it's available in "Leathertex" or even genuine leather for a lot less than Schuyler's offering.
Currently going through the NASB 2020 in that particular Wide Margin Reference edition.
Awesome video. I like NKJV . But enjoy my Quest NIV study bible 2004 edition. Sheree McGinnis, you tube did a review on it.
Nkjv vbv either the classic, preaching bible, mclaren are the best vbv even.the quality of bible are superb!
Awesome!
I don’t have one but would really love one
Hi Tim! Big fan of the channel. Was wondering if you have any suggestions for a premium esv bible that has double columns and has thick paper (preferably 36gm or over, though I know that is rare).
That's what you'll find in the Allan Reader (NC1 or NC2)... great Bibles with lovely paper.
I really wish crossway would make a VBV ESV in a non premium Bible for under $50. If there is one let me know
I like the ESV preaching Bible in goatskin as my every day Bible.
Just got one! Love it!
KJV for me all the way
What would you recommend for an NIV 1984 VBV?
The Steadfast Preachers' Bible - Handy Size, NASB (I have one) is pretty much thinner than the LSB, Handy Size; right?
The lsv and nasv is good the nrsv is good to.
No "Best Verse-by-Verse Bible" could ever be complete without mentioning the Cambridge Concord. It may be the best Bible design on the market.
i wish the PSQ was Verse By Verse 😩
I wish it was single column!
@@Mb2IseeU I wouldn’t mind that either… I enjoy my LSB handsize and my Allan Reader in NASB … so easy to follow along and find the text when at church!!!
PSQ can't be verse by verse or single column by definition of the Q for Quentel. But Schuyler could come out with a PS of one of their other, I'm not sure what to call it? Models?
Maybe contact Beth Rhodes?
@@bethvaughn4231 i’m not even sure what a Quental actually is 😂 I’m guessing something in Latin meaning 4
Hey Tim,
Do you think the CSB verse by verse bible is too big to carry back and forth or is it still a comfortable size?
I guess that’s subjective. Not too big for me.
I'm don't care for verse by verse, but that Holman CSB looked nice.
Surprised you did not mention any edition of the Douay-Rheims all of which are verse by verse!
Why?!?!
@@John.Macdonald this is the oldest English translation of the entire Bible antedating even the KJV and still in use today
I've been looking for my perfect Bible; a KJV that will last generations (quality leather and binding, with a semi or full yapp), has a larger font (11+ pt), 2-column, V-by-V, with references NOT in the outer-margin (ok if end-of-verse, bottom-of-page or inner-margin), and uses thicker (36 gsm) paper (no onion skin or tissue paper), and 3-4 thick/long ribbons. I'd also prefer Christ's words to be in RED, the size of the Bible being 6" x 9" (or a little bigger) and I'm okay if it's pretty thick. I'd like some good maps, but don't need the concordance or other extras. The one thing that would really put it over the top, would be quality drawings or artwork of major events... not so much for myself, but when I share the content with my grandchildren (they're really drawn in by the pictures). Thanks for sharing your "top 5 v-by-v bibles," it'll give me a few more to check out.
Why do you think there aren't many red letter verse-by-verse bibles on the market? Do people not like that feature?
Bible should be verse by verse in two column format, with no footnotes or cross referencing, just like The 40 or so writers of the scriptures wrote.
So many Bibles, so many denominations to choose from. Omg.
Esv bibles are not christian the are kelvinism.
Thanks for the update on the NKJV Skuyler Strident that's going to be coming out.
Do you know if there happened to offer the Olive Green Calf Skin with a Full Yap in that ❤😲🤯🫣
