this managed to make me feel sorry for the guy, because despite making truman's life into a show, he always watched over him and made him as happy as possible, he was basically his father... then I realize HE CHOSE this song to manipulate and gaslight truman and the audience to feel sorry for him. As a soundtrack, that's what it was designed for. Guy got what he deserved, shouldn't have turned his son's life into an entertainment product
Truman presents two emotions in the shot where he's pounding against the wall. The relief that he was right about everything being a lie, and the heart dropping realization that he's trapped inside. Truly a sad moment, this caused me to shed some tears....
@@girlwarriorx5536 really? I love that the sound completely disappears from this seen. We don’t even see Truman’s face as he breaks down. But the intense pounding to slowly leaning on the wall, shows you don’t need any of that. The music perfectly encapsulates the feeling, and carry’s acting is so damn good, you don’t need to see him. You know exactly what he looks like and what he’s doing. God, such a brilliant movie.

This is an extremely bitter-sweet piece for me. About a year ago my family got hit with Covid, and we were quarantined for about a month in total cuz we kept passing it around to eachother. I'm homeschooled so I was doing school in my basement throughout the whole month, I practically lived there because thats where all of my video games were and where my parents with Covid weren't. I like listening to music during school, and unironically (not because of the situation I was in), this was my favorite thing to listen to. I didn't realize at the time how ironic it was to listen to this in that situation. I look back now and realize I was exactly like Truman, sitting there, looking outside, feeling trapped, waiting for it to be over, waiting to be free from my cell and go outside and let the sun shine on my face. But at the same time, I was enjoying my cell is I put it, hanging around, playing video games, chatting on the phone with friends, having nothing important to do but school. I was cozy in my own little world, but I was still anxious.
I can't watch/see/listen anything related to the movie because it just makes me want to watch it again and unfortunately I can't pass the day watching it.
For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination: We learned to talk and we learned to listen. Speech has allowed the communication of ideas, enabling human beings to work together to build the impossible. Mankind's greatest achievements have came about by talking, and its greatest failures by not talking. It doesn't have to be like this. Our greatest hopes could become reality in the future. With the technology at our disposal, the possibilities are unbounded. All we need to do is make sure we keep talking. ~ Stephen Hawking (RIP) This music is so beautiful, I imagined this quote playing along with it.
"Maximilian Kolbe venerated as Saint Maximilian Kolbe, was a Polish Catholic priest and Conventual Franciscan friar who volunteered to die in place of a stranger in the German death camp of Auschwitz. According to an eyewitness, who was an assistant janitor at that time, in his prison cell, Kolbe led the prisoners in prayer. Each time the guards checked on him, he was standing or kneeling in the middle of the cell and looking calmly at those who entered. After they had been starved and deprived of water for two weeks, only Kolbe remained alive. The guards wanted the bunker emptied, so they gave Kolbe a lethal injection of carbolic acid. Kolbe is said to have raised his left arm and calmly waited for the deadly injection."

The funny part is that you have TV to blame, too. The News and the government is what caused this lockdown since they made everyone panic.
