    Question start at:
5:26 - how do you dry your hair?
8:17 - what is a good conditioner substitute? Do you have to wet your hair before oiling it?
11:02 - cleansing scalp between washes.
16:41 - can popping your locs be bad?
19:01 - seeing white residue in hair after washing. Why? (w/ an ACV/Baking Soda wash - also happens with Dr Bronners)

I can't thank you enough for these videos. My only regret is not finding you earlier. I love your videos especially the ones that are not about locs. PLEASE PLEASE keep informing and educating us. I have to say this covid19 has made me appreciate my hair even more. It's like the environment. I'm giving it a break.
Just an update. For people who are worried about sweat, Yanni is correct about not washing your hair often. Your scalp will naturally cleanse itself and it won't smell. I'm a cyclist, runner and practice Muay Thai. I sweat a lot and my hair does not smell. Drink plenty of water.

    • @YannietheLocologist

Thank you for saying that. I was waiting for an active person that works out a lot and swear a lot but still know sweat don't make your hair smell

I’m happy I discovered yannie a few months into my loc journey (I was retwisting with silly gels and over twisting) 🙌🏿 I wash every few months, use JBCO on my scalp and water or rose water to sprits and retwist every 2-3 months. I’m five years loced and I maintain them on my own. They are coming on just fine barely any build up I don’t wash with dr bronners I have hard water so it didn’t work well but I do wash with Shea moisture JBCO shampoo which is water based and leaves no build up 👍🏿

Thank you Yannie for recommending Dr.Bronners soap! I’m 14 months loc’d and it’s the first I’m using that soap. I will not go back to what I was using. This soap is it for me! I love the tingling from the peppermint and I love how clean my locs feel. I just make sure to add my oils after I use it and I’m good to go.

I do a Dawn wash once a year, mostly because I live in a place with really hard water, and also I'm bad about covering my hair all the time so things floating in the air/pollen/etc get into it. Doing the Dawn wash *once a year* ensures that I'm truly getting everything out. I also have allergies here that present on my skin and scalp so I have to wash more regularly, otherwise, I would be living my once a month wash life.

What if your lifestyle is NOT as healthy as yours?
I'm vegan, but I have other habits that are a work in progress...i.e, I don't always drink enough water, I sometimes eat processed food, I sit outside a lot, I do not and will not ever cover my locs, I dance and do yoga on the floor and my locs touch the ground and I am frequently around cigarette smoke.
I endeavor to lead a cleaner lifestyle and until I do, I wonder how often I should wash my locs?
I have watched many of your videos where you have recommended washing just a few times a year, but it seems to be with the assumption that everybody has a very healthy lifestyle. What about those who don't and are working to get there? 💜✨

I am just learning about how to care for loc's this year 2021. I want to have neat well kept loc's. I want well defined diamond parting, 4 point loose interlocking, uniform length, very small diameter (as a drinking straw).
My hair grows 1" to 2" a month and is salt-n-pepper or silver in color, curly thick soft med strands not 4c.
I want to use only oil and water no other products shampooing as needed.
I will maintain my hair myself. I am a 65 yr. old male. *Are my plans
    sustainable in your opinion?
