Thank you, I have this plant grown in my backyard last year save some seeds will plant this year did some research they're invasive needed to keep my eyes on them.
I find they do spread, but they aren't nearly as invasive as some other plants (like coltsfoot, mints, chickweed etc.). If you know what they look like in the spring you can always pull them up if they show up somewhere you don't want them :)
What a lovely idea, to infuse in oil with st John's.. I am in New England where "winter" is almost half the year as far as climate. I love this beautiful plant!
Interesting you said pay attention to what pops up in your garden, we had Poke weed pop up and I learned it is super beneficial as well. And its actually a really pretty berry plant. Thanks for the info.
I had this blue vervain pop up in my herb bed along with 1 moth mullein and a pokeweed popped up in a different planter in what should have been a pepper plant! Interesting. I wish I knew more about the pokeweed it's such a controversial plant and I'm in chronic pain from a back injury. It's probably just what I need, I believe our Creator has given us just what we need in these plants for our healing, we just need to learn more about them, so thank you so much for your informative videos, blessings to you
I honestly have no idea! It's not a well known herb truthfully so it might be tricky to find online. You can check with Harmonic Arts, St. Francis or Mountain Rose Herbs (if you are in the US).
I hope you still read comments for this video. Trying to tincture my blue vervain but my flowers already died off and it’s just leaves and the part that’s left of the flower… like a brown cone thing. Can I still use it?
I do still read comments! And I would definitely not use that. The plant is already well into its dormancy state. There is a saying in wild harvesting and medicine making... "there's always next year." Personally I would wait until next growing season!
Thankyou for the explanation. Please inform us about the process of preparing this plant for medication. Do you use the entire plant or which parts of the plant do you use.?
Hi there Joseph. If you listen to the video, about one minute in I mention that I use the top 20-25% of the plant :) I strip off the leaves and flowers and utilize that for tinctures and infused oils. Hope that helps!
Hi there Sarah! I am sorry to be seeing this comment so late (I'm not getting notifications from YT for some reason!). It's very bitter so I don't often harvest for tea, but perhaps next year when it's in flower again I can talk about drying herbs :)
@@joancayenne9293 I don't! I let nature take care of most of my herbs. We don't collect enough water on the property to water the vegetable gardens AND the herbs.
I am so sorry to hear this Tametia. Unfortunately I cannot give medical advice to folks who are not clients. It goes against community guidelines (for YT) and Health Canada Regulations. So I would need you to contact me in a professional capacity. Feel free to email me at spiraeaherbs@gmail.com.
Early in their flowering period is exactly when I want them for medicine! Just don't wait too long because then they will be overpolinated and nearing the end of their life cycle.
@@purplepear8505 I'm not much of a tea drinker, but fresh herb teas are lovely! You can use the herb fresh but if you want to preserve for winter use you would want to dry it out well for proper storage.
It gets very tall in the wild. The ones on my property are almost as tall as me, so I'd say at least 4.5 to 5 feet. I'm not sure this is something that you could grow indoors.
That would greatly depend on the end goal of your formulation and the person it is for. But in general I believe herbs are meant to work together with other allies yes!

Hi there. Sorry I missed your comment. I don't always get notifications about them! Due to its tonic emmenagogue properties, Verbena would be contraindicated while on birth control pill.
I apologize for the delay. I'm not getting all my notifications regarding comments. Richters Herbs and West Coast Seeds both have Verbena seeds I believe.

I just love your account. Thank you so much for all of your great info.
Thank you so much! That is lovely to hear and very appreciated. ♥
Beautiful video. I love Blue Vervain. It's great for the blues.
I love it for that reason too. Also a great bitter for digestive support.

Thank you. There is one growing in my property. I will start using it.
Isn't it amazing when you find awesome medicinal plants right on your property?
Thank You
Where can I purchase some blue vervain? I can’t find it in capsules anywhere online. Could u help?

It would be great if u could post a video on how u make ur medicines. Thx
I actually have a few! Check out my video on St. John's Wort as an example. I walk you through both tincture making and infused oils ♥
So when you make a tincture do you use the stems , flowers and leaves of the upper 25% of the plant ? What is that include? Thank you!
Hi there! I do not use the stems. I remove the leaves and flowers and use those.
Can you make a video on harvesting and dehydrating this herb for tea?

Does it need plenty watering & sun, I live in the caribbean.
Its hardly from USDA zones 3-9. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It does need watering. Hope that helps!
@@SpiraeaHerbs Thk. You, how often do I water it?

This is Great!!!‼️ Is this the same Verbena Officinallis?? Thankyou
No that would be a different plant, but related. And my pleasure!
@@SpiraeaHerbs okay dear, thankyou very much
Historically blue vervain has been used in lactation and is a great galatagogue.
You betcha it is! I go into way more detail about this plant with my students and a few of them were doulas and loved learning that.

Could you use this with hawthorn?

If it’s dried for tea, can you eat it?
Yes you can consume it in tea form. It's rather bitter though so you might want to combine it with other herbs to improve the taste.
Can this be taken while on birth control ?

it's also good for skin
I make an infused oil out of every year for a body oil. Love it!
