    Very enjoyable that Robin. Yeah, chin wagging to much can obscure your route alright. I've done that before. As you said nice Bothy - great location and only the dedicated walk there. The couple being two. Mice? My flat was full of em - gone now but they can be messy. Well, a lovely spot of fire before kip and walk back. Good going. Mark

      Cheers Mark, yeah the young couple walked in the dark most of the way, he had a fall in the bog too. I remember you saying that before about the mice, it’s their poo and urine that can become a problem. Soon as we turned in the mice were out 😂

    Last time I was there (maybe 10 years ago) it was filled with an English public school 'hiking' group. There were about 20 of them and they had a tent pitched in one of the upstairs rooms! They weren't happy to see me so I moved on to Staoineag - after a few words with their leader about overcrowding bothies with one group!

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  8 месяцев назад +1

      That’s not cricket mate, surely they should only use the bothy to prepare food and get shelter then move to the tent later on? Don’t blame you for shifting on to Staoinaig.

    Question from someone who has never visited such a bothy: Does it work on 1st come 1st serve basis or sort of booking/applying in advance? I mean imagine arriving in poor weather just about to get dark and find out the bothy is fully occupied.

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  8 месяцев назад +2

      Hi there, there’s no booking system so it is literally first come first serve. However the unwritten rule is, there’s no such thing as a full bothy and those there before you should make some space for new arrivals.
      If you plan on visiting a popular bothy and or a smaller 1 room bothy, it’s worthwhile taking a tent just in case.
