    Thank you! No one ever taught me how to wind these lines. I've been walking back and forth and back and forth laying out the kite, lines, and handle to keep things from wrapping. Kudos to you for showing this.

    Excellent tutorial. I'm new to quad line kites..and with your help, it has allowed me more fly time and less headaches setting up.

    Your video makes it look so easy. I know in the past 3 years I've spent more time untangling lines than flying my SLE. Last summer I got so pissed at a tangled line set I wadded them up and put them in the dumpster. Bought another 85' set that I have not tried yet. I'm thinking 4 separate line spools on a stick might work for me.

    Thank you so very much for this. I just got my first Rev earlier today, and spent a good portion of my evening trying to untangle the lines. This is going to make life so much easier. Thank you!

    Today 2:35pm to 4:00. New 85' quad gold line set. I got maybe 10 minutes of flight time, the remaining time was line setup, untangling lines after many 15 spin cartwheels. I was drew to Revolution kites after watching videos. Later I realized consistent coastal winds were needed. Kansas winds are like this today, 8,2,18,0,12,24,3. Yea, they vary like that all day, we never have a good straight wind like you coastal guys. Kansas gusting winds are for 2 string kites. Ebay my kite.

      John, probably a delayed question by many years, but what if I land the rev upright on the vertical stabilizers? Will this method still be e same? And I wouldn't have to launch and land upright.

  • @Kitelife
    @Kitelife  14 лет назад +1

    @TechnexLOL : I'm sure there are a couple of landing tutorials out there for dual lines, but once you've landed, the best way is to stake the handles securely with the kite leaning back about halfway... It's likely to launch if standing fully upright, but if it's leaning back the kite should stay on the ground.

    While I don't fly Revos (all Deltas right now), I can appreciate keeping the kite "put" during landing, especially in 10+ MPH winds.

    For 20 plus years I have used this method with no problems. However, I do figure eight wind my lines which makes for very easy one handed unwinds as I walk backwards from the stake to the kite. The string comes right off the winder ears. I do have the bigger wooden winder though.

    • @Kitelife
      @Kitelife  10 лет назад

      Lemony Snicket Whatever gets you up and flying in 10 minutes or less, any more is wasted time you could be flying instead. ;)

  • @Kitelife
    @Kitelife  11 лет назад +1

    It is easy, just a matter of applied techniques that eliminate the variables... Most twists occur not from the wrapping itself, but two WAYS of wrapping that are working against each other - try this technique carefully, and it will work if done correctly. ;)

    Hi Chris - the top lines can be a bit longer than the top (adjusted with the leaders), key is to ensure both top lines match each other, and that the bottom lines match each other as well... I suggest you visit the main KiteLife Com website, go to Video > Video Tutorials for advanced tutorials that cover tuning, control and more... Our forum also has a lot of friendly and knowledgable folks that can help. ;)

    At what point in the process do you build the kite if it is very windy, before the lines are staked and attached it may fly away?

    • @JohnBarresi
      @JohnBarresi 3 года назад +1

      Not so important - if you place the kite belly down on flat turf, leading edge into the wind, it's nearly impossible for the kite to move about. Main question would be, are you comfortable unwinding while holding an assembled kite or not? No wrong answer.

  • @Kitelife

  • @bowcross

    I find it a bit scary that I just spent 10 minutes watching a video on winding and unwinding lines.
    Still deciding if I should admit I liked it. I'm definately not going to admit I learned something.
    Now if I can just avoid hitting Enter by accident no one need ever know.

    This video makes it look like you are left handed. Do you prefer to wind your lines left handed?

    • @Kitelife
      @Kitelife  11 лет назад +1

      It only looks like it, because I move the winder around the lines coming out of my left hand... Being right handed, that hand is still active, just moving the winder instead of the lines, or both, but mostly the winder... Just faster and more accurate for me that way. -- JB :)

    Hrm, ya, that doesn't sound normal - Revs don't usually have washers on the bridle.
    Must be a really old Rev I maybe?
    What part of the country do you live in?
    One meet up at a kite event, and someone would happily have you sorted out in a matter of minutes... Takes me 3 minutes to set up, 3 minutes to tear down, everytime - that's not skill, it's just process. ;)

    Thank u but i give up with the rev all it does is flop farward every time but i think its cus there is no bridles there is just 4 metal washers there and on the lines there swivel clips. No matter how windy it is it just fkops and im getting very fustrated with it. So i got a cheap quad line and it landed on its side and snaped in half well thats what u get for going cheap. Im going back to a 2 line kite till i can afford a nu rev and not another 2nd hand but thanks for getting baak to me
