Hey everyone! Thanks so much for watching and for all the new subscribers, I’m seriously grateful for all your support! 🫰 If you’re still unsure about Hunt: Showdown, I’ve got a little something for you: I’m giving away a free copy of the game to one lucky commenter! I’ll announce the winner in my next video, so make sure to stay tuned! In the meantime remember to join our discord and stay up to date! I hope to see you all in the bayou soon! 🤠
As someone with 6.5k + hours in hunt showdown. I absolutely love it. Been playing since early access. I haven't ever had a moment where I thought about quitting this game. Its just a gaming game. Fun and intense pvp, interesting lore, sound design is top tier.
1.2k hours player here. Hunt is very underrated. The whole vibe of hunt is really cool and the feeling the game gives you cannot be found in any other game. I’ve played alot of FPS games but never seen a game like this one. Ofc it will take a bit of time to understand what is going on. But definitely worth trying.
You should! Only game I play. I try other PvP games, but they pale in comparsing. 2500-3000h played. Its hard and unforgiving, also the learning curve is steep. But thats what makes it durable and rewarding. It got incredible depth when it comes to playstyle and the amount of creativity you can utilize in your games.
600h player here, With a tac shooter background To me hunt is like Cs/ valorant in a few ways, you have wait time, setup and bullshit kills (both good and bad) but the biggest difference is that there is always tension. Until you see 9-11 dead hunters you always feel like there may be someone hiding. Unlike in tarkov, any weapon can 1 shot you and since the rate of fire is slower each shot matters. Have fun on the bayou
I'm so glad you decided to tap in to your editing skills and do something not only for yourself but for others to be able to appreciate, definitely worth watching ☺️
This game have just one single problem: Bad Servers which end up in trades... when they fix that, this will be for me the best shooter on the market right now.
This was super well done and encouraging to watch! Absolutely how I personally felt wandering into Hunt 3 years ago. Glad it's resonating for you as well.
Thank you so much! It really means a lot to know it resonated with you. Hunt has all the secrets to drawing you in, and it's awesome to hear your experience mirrors mine. Stay safe hunter! 🤠
good point,it also made me so hooked to its adrenalin peaking,no other game can give me that now, thanks hunt for making me unable to enjoy other games and making me addicted to high and lows.
Your video is on point. From B-Roll to pacing. Awesome, professional video. Nice you got to do a video for yourself. Look forward to seeing more of your work.
Beautiful deep video :)). Learning feels good and in HUNT there is a ton of infos to gather and learn. I think that is what keeps me playing. Good to see so many new faces in this game :)). Keep it up!
I totally agree, there aren’t many games where, even 200 hours in, there’s still so much to learn. That’s honestly what makes it so addicting! Thank you so much for the support! 🙌
First off before I address the game, let's talk about your video quality, great job on the work you put into editing the video from the chapters to the story telling and giving your overview of Hunt Showdown as a game. Your talent is appreciated and it will take you far I hope! Now, onto my personal input with a little over 700 hours and counting, floating around 5-6 star area. My outlook on the game is currently jaded but hopefully optimistic. The game has a very nice gun feel, the sounds of the weapons are nice, you really feel that oomph on a headshot, graphically Mammon's is a pretty map- even though it took a whole new engine update to get it. They focused too heavily on forcing action towards the mines IMO. Game still lacks a vibrancy slider as well(anyone new reading this, change your vibrance setting in your graphics control panel on the desktop). The performance isn't as good as it was despite having DLSS in the game. The current UI is a big mess but if you do the time and make a loadout, you will save yourself a lot of headaches. You just shouldn't need to do that. There most certainly is a meta with weapons in Hunt if you want to maximize things, however the unique style of the gameplay and sometimes just out right changes from the devs shift it. But with how the game is designed, IMO, your own personal loadout is your signature and your play style is ultimately what will bring you the most fun. Map wise, Stillwater used to be the worst map in the game as far as I ever heard. Now its Mammon's Gulch and Stillwater as the worst maps of the game. But you'll see that when the other two return. Lawson in December if we're lucky. The devs are definitely hard of hearing and pivot way too slow, unfortunately as stated, the major complaints or bugs that have plagued the game before 1896 are the things that could ultimately kill it once the die hard fan base is sick of it or when they find a new fix. When 1896 launched the game doubled in population on Steam, something like 60k for a month at its leak. we currently sit like 30k peak but the average amount of players steadily decreases. As fun as hunt can be to play however, the frustration of fighting exploiters, hackers, ping abuser, general server issues and then the crazy things you see from the trade windows combined with all of the previous will get the game turned off quick. Which is a shame because the gun play itself is really fun. the thematic is also pretty neat, even though they keep doing things that move away from the spooky southern vibe the game started with for some reason. The audio prior to 1896 was also 20x's better than what it currently is now, which is a damn shame because it was CRYSTAL clear. Footsteps didn't get lost in the mix like it does now or characters just lose sound completely (even before the stupid stealth perk given to solos). The AI has also gotten absurdly bad as well, between mobs popping into the world practically on top of you to things hearing or seeing you through 20 meters of solid building. its something I hope is on the list of things to address for Crytek. Stuff like the Ghostface skin IMO was only an issue because of all the other issues that exist, that and it felt out of place to the dark western theme. With aside of the bitterness of constant DLC being released by the game suffers bugs or exploits that last as long as events. Example being Surefoot perk in the current event, simply crouching with this perk will enable a speed boost until you crouch again. Its incredibly powerful vs anyone not using it, onto of being able to use your consumables while moving at Mach Jesus you will out run anyone chasing you that doesn't have it like the Flash. As someone gifted this game two years ago, with my time spent and lack of faith in the devs at this moment, i wouldn't personally recommend this to someone who wasn't running with a group of veterans. However this game, it is the equivalent of being given the VHS tape from The Ring when a friend gives it to you. You know the outcome is going to be bad but you play it anyway.
The audio is a huge thing that I see few people mentioning, gulch and the new Stillwater have so much damn audio clutter, it feels like they wanna remove the focus on audio queues, even though that is such a core part of hunt, it‘s ridiculous.
Wow, first off, thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and thoughtful comment. This level of commitment is exactly why this is one of the most passionate communities out there! Your words of encouragement mean a lot, and I really appreciate you! 🙌 I agree with so much of what you said. Regarding the sound, I don't have much to compare my current experience with, but if it was that much better before, damn, they really need to bring it back. Hopefully, the devs can address the lingering issues, because this game has so much potential and I’d hate to see it fade. Thanks again for sharing your perspective, and I’m glad we’ve got more than just seven days with this VHS tape! See you in the bayou Hunter and stay safe! 🤠
Hearing veterans talk about the old maps just makes me even more excited for them. Here’s hoping the devs can make those adjustments and deliver something special for those of us just joining in!
@@Khaldrost Yessir, trust me you'll enjoy the fights coming for you in the "new" old maps. My fingers are crossed that once they put some of the fires out the crystal clear sound of Hunt comes back. But as always, good luck and good hunting
We're glad to have you, if only you joined before the 1896 release if only for the UI. It had been a journey playing it from all the way back in Early Access, you would have enjoyed being on that train like you do now. Enjoy your Hunts man
I might be biased because i like hunt so much but for a small channel this is an amazing video! While watching i didnt expect you to have only 200 subs like damn. keep it up tho!
As someone with 1700 hours in the game, it's nice to know that new people are still finding an enjoying it! For me, it was definitely the grimy Southern atmosphere and theming that drew me in (I mean look at my avatar I stream with lol), but what's kept me coming back is that, despite everything, (and I hope the oncoming competition from Hunger spurs Crytek to work harder) I still find that I can have a good match and it's possible to win with literally any loadout I care to run with. I have my go-tos, of course, but I need to mix it up in a game like this and Hunt allows me to because my general game sense matters way more. And one more thing, the most important to me: the gunplay. It's so different due to the game being set in 1896 and having period-accurate weaponry (aside from the Bomb Lance, but you gotta be a little silly in a video game). There's no SMGs with 50 rounds and infinite mags to slam into them, which only takes 0.2 seconds to do. It's way slower and every bullet means way more, not only because it's a limited resource but because every hit matters. Two or three hits from most guns will put someone down unless they heal in between, which takes time. And reloading is SO SLOW which is not only accurate to how these guns work, it's a big part of the strategy; can I afford to reload right now? Am I safe here? Should I reposition first? It feels so much more strategic and like there's way more skill involved than any other PvP FPS I've played. It has been rougher recently since the relaunch of the game but like I said, Hunger is gonna give Crytek competition that they're kind of lacking right now so hopefully it pushes them to work harder. Because no other game is gonna do this cowboy aesthetic this well so switching to Hunger or EVO Vanguard would lose something for me.
Welcome to the community. I have been enjoying Hunt since 2018. Back then, we only had 100 health points, and all ammo cause you to bleed. We definitely need more people voicing our opinions thanks.
Great video!! this "no meta" sense that you get from this game is soo refreshing. U actually feel that even if every type of weapon feels different, you can use them and they will be good and bad in certain situations so you can choose what suits you and what you want without being behind everybody else because you didnt use the weapon X with perk Y because is miles better. Also new too the game and loving it!
Thank you so much for the support! I totally agree, it's one of the reasons the game still feels fresh even after 200 hours (I know, rookie numbers). Happy hunting!
I'm glad you're enjoying it and making such a nice video about it. It's one of my favorite games of all time. It's an experience that I haven't found anywhere else. It allows for so many different play styles and experiences and you can play to fit your mood or if you're solo or in a group. If you're on a new hunter, a free hunter or if you're trying to get your hunter to level 50 for the trophies or to retire them to get the 10k boost to your bloodline(prestige) progress. Another important note, even though they sell skins for a relatively cheap price you can also get the weapon skins off of hunters you kill as long as you don't burn their bodies. So you can take trophies out of your successful encounters and use them later. :) Also, every other prestige rank gives you the option of receiving a random free hunter or weapon skin. There's 100 prestige levels so that's a lot of free skins. They also do twitch drops several times a year that offer free weapon charms, skins and hunters. The audio is amazing in this game. You can go with silenced weapons and play from bushes or you can rush with heavy hitting weapons, shotguns and melee weapons. Scope from positions and angles that give you tactical advantages or trap the whole area. And no matter what way you plan to play there's traits you can get to support and make that play style more successful. Each match can last up to 45 minutes so there's time to make choices and plan actions. Do you go after the bounty right away or find its location and set up an ambush? Wait for someone else to get it and then try to kill them on the way to extracting and take it? The game offers so many options it has never gotten old or boring. And for anyone who doesn't play you might be wondering why I mentioned burning a downed enemy earlier.. burned enemies can't be revived by their teammates and takes about a minute so it pressures them to make a move to put them out right away. You can also burn a solo to prevent him self reviving. However, there is one catch to this. If a teammate has a bounty he can permanently consume his own health to revive a burned out teammate but there are ways to get that health back. These are just some of the interesting facts about the game. It offers so much more and if anyone's curious it's probably worth your time. It has a learning curb to realize the noise and how bad it can hurt you and the pro's/con's of different weapons and ammo types and how to aim and hit with them at different ranges. But once you get into the game it gets very rewarding and very very deep in tactics, game play and style of play.
Excellent breakdown of the best game I have ever played. I’m 59 and developed games for Nintendo in the 90’s, been an FPS player since Doom. Hunt is in a class all its own, only game that ever made my hands shake. See you in the bayou!!
It's first game I have ever played that I've reached 1000+ hours into it. I'm not a big multi-player gamer, but Hunt somehow has drawn me in heavily. RDR2 is the game that coincidently got me to discover Hunt.
Great vid can really feel the love. Also a big fan been playing some 5 years now Will say though the trade window in my opinion is really good. Not having friends that pick you based on your internet speed just so you can win on trades is great. The times that it does happen I just hope I wasn't the last man standing for our team and when it does happen that way we often laugh about it. Specially when their is no one left alive on the map.
Hey, thanks so much for the kind words! It's awesome to sit here and read from someone who's been playing for five years, here's hoping for an even better experience for the next five! Stay safe hunter! 👏
The game is very good; it has its own style and atmosphere. However, it is plagued by numerous bugs that occur during gameplay and, worst of all from the players' perspective, they are not being fixed promptly. For example, a memory leak that happens when opening the map won't be patched for another month. Additionally, the servers have never been the game's strong suit since its launch, and not much has been done to improve them. Similarly, players from Asia on the EU server also detract from the fun, as their 250 ping often makes them difficult to hit. The small player base also means that the game is usually populated by people who are very experienced with it. A new player who somehow stumbles upon the game, without friends already playing who can guide them, will find it very challenging to get started.
Totally hear you on the bugs and server issues. I’ve definitely found myself in deep waters with the learning curve and MMR balancing, so I totally get the frustration. I’m hoping Crytek has something in the works soon to make the experience more stable across the board. For me, the highs are still outweighing the lows, but I’m also relatively new to the game with only 200 hours under my belt. That said, I’ve been fortunate enough not to run into too many of the game-breaking issues I’ve seen described. Here’s hoping the devs keep working on these issues so the game can thrive and new hunters can have a smoother experience!
@@KhaldrostLet's hope they start doing something to fix the game, especially since after the New Year, the game will face competition from "Hunger." As we all know, nothing motivates developers better than competition!
For the bug where you’re not able to use the search bar in your loadout menu. Use the shortcut to enable the search bar instead of clicking the search bar.
Beautiful video. I have 1300 hrs in this game, more than any other game i have played. One little correction is that there's absolutely a meta for two basic gamestyles. Close range: Auto-5 slugs/buckshot and uppercut or dolch. Long range: Mosin Nagant Spitzer (sniper or base) and uppercut or dolch. With quartermaster can be a dolch precision or an uppercut precision for a good medium range with extra bullets for mosin. Personally, i hate those loadouts. Really sweaty and overpowered. My current favorite loadout is a Caldwell Rival Trauma (two barreled shotgun with a melee hammer on it's butt stock) with a Sparks pistol with poison ammo. You have two close range shells and one extremely powerful medium range bullet that poisons for up to 15 seconds. If you get the Poison Sense trait, you can push knowing where they are. A melee in your shotgun if you miss or don't kill with the shells. It fits ky playstyle so well
I really appreciate the love and time you put into your feedback, thank you! Here’s how I look at it: If we define ‘meta’ as the best agreed-upon strategy, I see it differently. If you give a Mosin Spitzer to someone who lacks game sense, say they’re not focused on sound cues or movement and consistently re-peak. I’d argue they don’t have an inherent advantage over a hunter with a single-shot pistol who’s mastered those fundamentals. So when I say there’s no ‘meta,’ I don’t mean there aren't stronger weapons (because, yeah, there definitely are). I’m talking about how understanding and navigating game mechanics can level the playing field in ways that no other competitive game really offers. Are there advantages to using certain weapons? Absolutely. But do you have a disadvantage if you don’t? I’d say no. And that's why so far I see a lot of variety on the hunters I come across as well. I’m still early in my journey with only 200 hours, so I get that my perspective might shift as I get more experience, especially in 5 or 6-star lobbies, but that’s how I see it right now!
@@Khaldrost Oh, absolutely! 3-4 stars anything goes, because skill varies a lot, specially when we talk about gamesense. When you go to 5-6 territory meta slaves are a plenty, because most players know the game mechanics pretty well (and some of them exploit them frequently). I'm a 5-6 with a pretty low kda (kinda reckless and love single and double shot guns), and playing my preferred loadouts against a mosin sniper with spitzer 6 star duo perched on the mountains 150-200 mts away can be pretty impossible lol
Even I have low k/D this game is still the best game I played yet, anyway best video about games I ever watched actually is the first one I watched from start till end, very good well balanced review
I bought hunt in 2020 (maybe 2021). Played for an hour and put it down. Not for any real reason, just played other games. Picked it back up during scorched earth and have not stopped since. 230 hours at time of writing and many more to come. The game has issues, yes, but there is nothing like it out there and it offers you a gaming experience that is truly one of a kind. Your issues in the intro are exactly like mine. Hunt fits right into what i need at the moment. Balancing with Lords of the Fallen and my passion is being reignited.
Fantastic video. Reading about the problems of the game i am happy to be on PS5. Most of the described bugs never happened to me. For example i have 175 hours of play now and only had around 10 trades and i think they were fair (both gunners shot at the same time and aimed well). It felt like it should have.
Thanks so much for the kind words and for sharing! It’s great to hear that you’ve had a smooth experience. I know there are plenty of players on PC who’ve encountered game-breaking bugs that have made them step away, which is a real shame. Here’s hoping the experience only gets better for everyone!
Top notch quality video, man! It's nice to hear some positives in a game that is often suffering from hateful comments. Personally I have nearly 3k hours in the game and I have never thought of quitting. Of course the game has it's fair share of problems but, for me at least, it doesn't ruin the game as a whole. Now we just gotta look forward for the coming patches and hopefully another reworked map :D keep slaying and maybe we'll meet eachother in the bayou/the mountains. Peace!
After playing 2700hrs i just have to say enjoy the game for what it is now. when hitting 6 star the community becomes toxic and stressful. id say the removal of mmr would be waayy more enjoyable, never knowing what kind of lobby ill get what what loadouts ppl will run.
Very high quality production. I feel you, I bought games, eg Frostpunk 2, ... But I keep falling back to this game. This is a very good video, normally I don't show videos with so little views from people I don't know Btw subscribed, and i am a 6000hrs huntplayer Btw you forgot one mayor aspect: the community id helpful and not degenerates, very mature
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words and for subscribing, it really means a lot to me, especially knowing you’ve got 6k hours in Hunt! 🙏 You're right, I've had very few negative experiences, even with randoms. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts, and I’ll keep pushing to make more content you can enjoy!
I've Been playing this game for years and I love how the new update made it more accesable for new people. I gifted the game to my brother we've been going wild. Many people have been going too hard on crytek but at the end of the day they need money and their micro transactions aren't even that bad. Whenever I buy a skin or battle pass in this game I don't feel like crap like other games I've sunk money into. It feels like I'm investing to a company that's making a compassionate game about cowboys rootin and tootin.
I wish I could play this game again for the first time, I've been playing off and on since it's launch, now I'm stuck in the 6 star lobbies and it's a miserable play experience almost every game
IMO Hunt Showdown is the most underrated FPS Game as of today. Despite it's decent graphics, gameplay and balancing. And despite it's THE extraction shooter that everybody wants and every other developers try to produce. Guys... you want a good extraction FPS shooter? It is already here... since 6 years. It has proven itself!
The monitization changes they consistently add are concerning and just straight up greedy. Aaaand there's a good chance they're about to add Post Malone as a Hunter in game.... Nicki Minaj and Twerking become less and less unlikely... by the minute. Post Malone as a hunter might fit well aesthetically. But adding real life people isn't only immersion breaking for a good deal of people, it's also a huge risk because what if in a few months down the line the new freshly character turns out to be a terrible person with a massive public outcry? Remember McCree from Overwatch...? How did that go? :) Don't get me wrong: i love the game. I've been playing since 2019 and it's been my and my friend's "main game" - contiuously throughout those 5 years. But let me tell you: Crytek is taking the game in a worrying, greedy direction - constantly over the last ~ 3 years we actively noticed Crytek pushing for more and more and more monitization. The game needs to earn money - that's fine, no one complains about that. But it's becomeing more and more - with NONE of the benefits you can righfully expect from a game earning money. First they introduced Battle Passes - which is fine. BPs are one of the most fair monitization models imo.... But the Hunt BPs have been terribly grindy. WAAAAY more than other games. Fortnite (last time i played like 2 years ago or so) and Diablo 4 do BPs very well. You complete them "just like that" - usually without even paying attention to it. Well... In Hunt, my group and me over the first few events we played basically every day for 2-3 hours (at least) and only got to about 50% of the BP. We didn't specifically focus on farming points, sure, but getting only HALF through by playing regularily, and certainly more than your "average player" ist just... fucking stupid, sorry to say. If you look through reddit you'll find posts and comments from 2 years ago, saying completing the event takes aroudn 200 to 250 hours. That's just dumb - that's waaaaaaay too long. Obviously. Good thing you could finish the BPs by spnding real money, huh? :) That's not all though. They decided to lock new weapons (some of which were and are clearly very strong and not just some meme nieche weapons) behind the BPs. Custom Ammo as well. If it were just cosmetics, i wouldn't care. But locking gameplay behind a BP that's extremely grindy? No, lol. But wait... there's EVEN MORE to just the BPs: Of course they just HAD to add what's effectively "pay 2 win" - If you buy the Premium BP, you get 10% more event points (which is basically BP-Experience). If you have special Hunters, you gain an additional 10% event points... You want to guess where you got those from..? :) Oh and also if you bought the premium BP, you could see Event Points in game for LITERALLY DOUBLE THE RANGE normal players could with a trait (40 instead of 20 meters - which in Hunt is A LOT) - during the Serpent Moon event i think. Also let's not forget the consumable boosters they had at some point. To be fair recent events have gotten a little better. But Crytek still just HAD TO lock one of the most profitable event missions behind purchasing the premium BP. Btw, if you purchase any BP, you should be able to complete it whenever you want - ZERO time limit... just a quick side note. Well.... They also removed and nerfed ways to earn Blood Bonds (the real money currency) in game. How nice of them. :) You could earn a respectable amount, but it still took very long. You'd get 3-8 average per game i'd guess. Slow enough to not cost Crytek a lot of money, but enough to occasionally let players afford a nice cheap skin (or take literal MONTHS of gameplay to afford ONE higher value skin). Oh, they removed the sales where one skin goes on sale for 48 BBs every couple of weeks as well. That all would be fine.... IN A FREE TO PLAY GAME. It's NOT a free to play game though. Most of us payed 40 bucks, now it costs 20. Not to mention the countless DLCs they release. They literally SPAM them. And they're not exatly cheap, at ~ 10 Bucks per DLC. And even all of that could be okay, while still not great.... IF IT WASN'T THE CONSTANT BUGS AND PERCORMANCE ISSUES. There's bugs STILL in the game that have been there before i started playing. They REFUSE to region lock the game. There are a lot of Cheaters - not a Tarkov level, but you still often meet them. And you'll notice only the very most obvious and most blatant cheaters. They removed content - not only the maps which will return. But yea - ALL of the maps should have already been out by now. We now effectively only have 50% of the content in game. They also removed written Lore for whatever reason - which is a big part of immersion for many people who love Hunt for it's unique lore and worldbuilding. I'll just not mention the catastrophic UI-"update" in further detail... But you're STILL not able to drag-drop items into different slots (which was one of the main reasons for the engine upgrade???) everything takes more clicks and is a general "worsification" / "consolification" of the game - despite the very vast majority of people playing on PC. Oh and when they previewed the UI rework months before the update, the playerbase LITERALLY TOLD THEM IT'S WORSE and TOLD THEM WHAT THEY SHOULD IMPROVE.. Just for Crytek to completely ignore all of that and releasing without playtesting. I won't touch on balancing, but let's just say that Crytek seemingly avoids doing what the players want like the plague. Ammo-Penetration "fix" being only the most recent example. It's just really sad, because if Crytek didn't do dumb shit like all of the above, Hunt could be one of the greatest games with the greatest athmospheres in existance. But not like this.
Agree, I stopped playing in September 2022 due to uni, back then I was incredibly happy with the game, DeSalle had released not long ago, custom ammo was great, the new traits had been great, the battle passes had become more enjoyable and encouraged better gameplay (remember poisoning crows for the plague doctor?), it felt like a great game and every update just made it better, I was confident it was just gonna get better and better. Well, I came back for 1896, and it just doesn‘t feel like that anymore, it gives me a similar feeling to playing Rainbow 6, devs that just don‘t listen to the community, make unnecessary changed no one asked for, and just generally alienating the playerbase with every update. The UI was shipped in an unacceptable state, it‘s still terrible and buggy, just a huge slap in the face honestly. The new map looks great, and I think a lot of the compounds have great movement, but the map at large just feels generic, theres so much more audio clutter now that prevents using player audio cues to its fullest, it’s incredibly safe, there’s no decisions or risks you have to take to traverse the map, like the lakes or open fields in the original maps, in general it just feels more like COD now. It’s so frustrating, because the whole reason I picked up hunt is that it was unique, that it was difficult and unforgiving, and it seems like they‘ve been constantly going against that. The spear makes AI a joke, you can oneshot everything beside a meathead, take a pennyshot derringer with it and you can kill one in 2 seconds. Dying and burning used to be significant, now with banishing plus the perks (which I think are a good addition) plus the event medkits which allow team to basically have 3 additional banishes basically for free, it just feels super cheap, and you have to burn every player you down just to progress the fight. I‘m still gonna keep playing the game, I still really enjoy it more than any other shooter on the market now, but if they keep going in the direction they‘re going, I will eventually stop playing, if it just becomes another generic AAA game, it will have to compete against newer, trendier games, and without the original fanbase that actually cared about it, it will not last. There is a game called HUNGER upcoming at some point, with a setting similar to hunt, and if hunt just becomes 1890s COD I‘ll just jump ship. So frustrating how dense and uncaring a dev team can become.
Same story. I used to play a lot in my 20s but I completelly lost interest to games by 30s. I thought it's over, I'm too old or something. I just could not find anything that captures my attention. Until I met Hunt. It brought the joy back. It is so good. Even after 3k hours my hands still shake after an intense fight Hunt community sucks. Cries and whines about every single change. The game is not perfect but it's very much playable. The latest event is very good. New guns fit perfectly, new mode is great, Gunrunner brought tons on interesting loadouts. Good skins either. I enjoyed it One great thing you haven't mentioned is in-game communication. Those sudden alliances, talking to enemies through the walls, teaming up aganst those sniper out of range, sharing bounty when it's just you and another solo left. Don't play this game without a mic
Hunt is a very unique and awesome game. We cannot overlook the fact however that every patch brings back bugs that were fixed or introduces new bugs that cut into seamless gameplay. But yeah, better to focus on the positive stuff agreed.
It really makes me happy to know the video resonated with you, it’s honestly why I set out on this journey! 🙌 I totally agree, the community can be very passionate at times, but that’s because there’s so much love for the game. I’ll keep trying to stay true to myself and remain positive in my hunting expeditions. I know it can get tough the more hours someone dedicates to the game, but I’m confident it’ll all work out. I need this Crytek! 😤 I usually duo with a friend but I'll keep my microphone close by in my solo ventures!
I got 6k hours in this game. Never played a game more. However, after the 1896 patch dropped, it was over for me. The performance is terrible now, and as a UI designer I already was pretty disappointed with the old UI, but that new thing just makes me numb and sad to a point where I cant bring myself to even start the game anymore. I just don't have the energy to struggle myself to click a millon times just to start a game with a new hunter.
Hi, long time Hunt playere here. The new UI is more anoying to navigate then the old so Crytek did an ass job at UI changes but the game over all realy good
I don’t have a lot to contrast the UI with, but I see and hear you. Hopefully, Crytek can improve it over time. I guess, since I didn’t play before, it’s easier for me to focus on how the game delivers on so many other levels as well. Glad you’re still enjoying it!
It’s not totally true what you’re saying about “there are no meta weapons”. Yes, every gun is viable especially after the big update where every headshot, no matter the distance, is an instant kill. But that does not mean that there are no meta weapons. Some weapons like centennial bleed, officer carbine bleed or long ammo weapons like krag, mosin, lebel. Those are really strong. While guns like ranger 73 are not as strong but still viable. Also in the big update they buffed cut-off shotguns. So running with quartermaster and using krag + cut-off shotguns is meta as well. Krag can be used at any range and the shotgun of your choice can be used from close range. Although i would prefer bringing in slugs with shotguns for more stable damage output.
Thanks for sharing your perspective, I really appreciate it! I totally agree that some weapons and setups are undeniably strong, but even a Krag + cut-off shotgun doesn’t guarantee an advantage if the player isn’t focused on movement, sound cues, and positioning. When I say 'there’s no meta,' I don’t mean there aren’t better weapons, I agree there are. But Hunt stands out because good strategy and game sense can level the playing field in a way that’s unique compared to other games. Certain loadouts help, but I’d argue they’re not essential, which I think is your point too. That, in a way, removes what’s traditionally defined as a "meta." That said, I’ve only got 200 hours, so I might feel differently as I move up in MMR, let’s just hope it doesn’t move too much! 😭
@@Khaldrostalright, totally misunderstood what you meant in the video. And you’re totally right. I’m high 6* and have done some trolling on an alt account in 3*-4* going in with 2 single conversion pistols (bleed+fmj) and wiped lobbies as a solo vs trios in the past. What I’m trying to say with this is that i can confirm that knowledge and experience can level the playing field and that it doesn’t matter which gun you use in this game as much as most other games. Like i said every gun is viable. Even the derringer pistol. Another example would be that my brother which i often play with and also is high 6* wipes trios using the weirdest loadouts. Like hand crossbow fire + katana.
Love the game but it does feel like trash when you freshly prestige and you end up immediately spending 4k hunt dollars on nitro express's because typing "OFF" in the search bar purchases 2 of the item selected. The UI has still been holding the game back so much and can really turn new players away. But I guess if that's my biggest complaint the game's doing pretty good.
Great point! I’m still bouncing between 3 and 4 MMR, so my perspective is still shaped by the experience so far. I wouldn’t be surprised if the meta becomes more noticeable as my MMR increases. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, and I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! 😊
Been playing since 2020 and I can say with confidence that the devs have killed my love for the game. It's a shame because Hunt used to be the most unique FPS on the PvP market but is now being piloted in a direction of mass-market appeal, crossovers with other IPs and celebrities, casualization of the gameplay, and cheapening of the entire setting. It's all very sad to see such an interesting and vibrant light be snuffed out in favor of a more generic and dimmer one with predatory microtransactions as the main selling point.
I hear you, and it’s clear you've been invested in the game for a long time. Hope you don't mind me throwing in my two cents here; Do you think it's really fair to say it used to be the most unique FPS on the PvP market? Was it the lack of microtransactions that made it unique? A game that doesn't have a single microtransaction won't keep you in love with it, as I'm sure you once were with Hunt, based on how you describe it. Your feelings are still incredibly valid, and I appreciate you sharing. I guess I’m more in the gray area, as I don’t have 4 years of experience like you to temper my expectations. The way I see it, Crytek is a business, and Hunt: Showdown is also a business decision. While I agree there needs to be a shift in priorities-away from predatory systems and towards quality of life improvements-I think promoting revenue through skins, events, and season passes won’t necessarily ruin the core experience, if done right. I’ve never been one to buy skins, but I bought some for Hunt because, for me, the experience justifies it. If issues like those mentioned here aren't addressed by Crytek, I’d likely stop supporting them because, at that point, I’d feel the priorities are misaligned. But that wouldn’t diminish Hunt's uniqueness as an FPS for me, because the magic, to me, lies in the heart of it. I hope this makes sense and that future changes help you rediscover the love you once had for Hunt. Stay safe out there, and here’s hoping we'll cross paths in the bayou one day! 🫰
I disagree with your take on the so-called review bombing due to the UI, and the connection you made to the community asking for Crytek to do something to bring new people in. I watched the whole video and for the most part agreed with you, but this is the point I had something to say about. I know it's a lot of text, but I tried to break it into paragraphs. First and foremost, the UI had been a major issue for years, and people were complaining about it constantly. When they announced that a rework was coming, people had a lot of hope that it was going to fix the known bugs and issues, and the devs made it sound like it was going to be just that and more. When they showcased it ahead of the release, the devs got a lot of feedback regarding the design being very CoD, which they ultimately ignored. Additionally, the new UI was released with an astonishing number of bugs, which would get you stuck in the menus forcing you to restart, would trick you into buying stuff when you just wanted to equip things, would crash the game in certain cases, would forget filters and settings, etc etc etc. After most of a year of waiting for the revamped UI, it felt like a real kick in the teeth to receive something so unpolished, uninspired, clunky and clumsy. One of the reasons they gave for the old UI being bad is that it had become a mishmash of different styles and UI frameworks, so imagine people's reactions when a bug appeared that showed that the old UI was still in the game, and was just covered up with the new one. As a lead software developer with more than a decade of experience, I could not imagine what kind of unacceptable state their code must be in. Secondly, this new UI happened to be released with 1896 which, in addition to the excellent new map and fire boss, also reintroduced a number of previously fixed bugs, as well as a number of new bugs, including crashes when you opened the map, or entered some compounds, etc. The combination of a frustrating menu experience and the very real possibility of losing your hunter and gear due to a crash really pushed people over the edge. The reason the UI was a central focus of criticism is that it was the element that caused the most issues. I want you to grab a piece of paper and a pencil, and play the game today. Make a notch on one side of the paper for every time a bug happens in the UI, and a notch on the other side for every time a bug happens in the game. Showing the result screen twice is a notch, accidentally buying the wrong trait is a notch, not being able to remove an unfavorited trait is a notch, your teammate joining the lobby and closing your menus is a notch, etc. Trading is a notch, frame drops are a notch, bad audio is a notch, etc. At the end, count how many times you encountered a UI bug versus a game bug, and you will understand what I mean. Third and last, right after the 1896 update was released in this state, Crytek had a free weekend, where anyone could play. Any new player joining got to see the game in this state. They could've waited, fixed things, calmed things down, and then had the free weekend, but they chose to show the whole world what a Crytek game looks like YEARS into development. The kinds of bugs that are in the game right now belong in an alpha or beta version of a game, not years and years in. It doesn't matter if the community leaves bad reviews or not because anyone who played the game at the 1896 release could plainly see it was a heaping pile of trash. I don't want to hear about how it's a whole new version of the engine and that makes all the difference. At my company we have released full rebuilds of some of our systems built on entirely new libraries from scratch, and they were not this big of a mess.
Im in the 1000's with hours and a 6 star. Lemme tell ya there is most definitely a meta, and on top of that this game is amazing and i still love it but is undeniably a shell of its former self. I can tell you why if you want, but be warned I have it saved and it is very very long. Also trades are bad and shouldnt have took them this many years to correct.
The only gripe I have is w the community. They’re nice to players but absolutely hate crytek. The discord is absolutely toxic and hate on everything. RUclips, twitch and other are better tho.
The last updates of Hunt Showdown made me, a player with over 3k hours on this game, quit. I don't even care about these ridiculous new skins. Its more the balancing.. bringing back bullshit traits like 2 long weapons and so many bonus perks for solo players... also many traps and other BS that keeps getting buffed. Game gets easier by the day. Perks like Death Cheat that make you want to keep ur hunter alive no matter what.. nah man. Game was awesome for years.. nowadays its just one event after the other so they can grab as much money as possible, luring in new players with Overpowered Traits, but losing Baseplayers on the way
I have mixed feelings about this video, the first half is freaking fantastic and it captures whats great about hunt and I was just thinking how I want to share the video to get my friends to the game BUT On the second half of the video where you start talking about the bugs and issues with the game, I feel that its a bit disingenuous to not also adress everything they are trying to do to improve it Dont get me wrong as a someone who started playing rigth about when you did, i can relate to most of your issues and frustrations with the game but not addressing their latest commitments to improving all that, with time frames for that matter, is just lazy and is doing a massive disservice to your video The reason im saying its lazy its cause this video came out AFTER everything has been addressed in multiple posts from the devs, so not adding that to the video like you did for the first 2 issues is just lazy in my eyes Bottom line is, this video went from something I loved and realted and wanted to share with everyone to something I dont enjoy that much anymore and will not be sharing, even though I can relate to both parts of the video, not adressing the devs commitment to every problem you mentioned is doing a disservice to you and the community People are gonna start the video wanted to play and leaving not wanting to play, while it is important to adress the good and the bad, its important to also adress where its going to You need to do better, especially considering that you already ahowed us that you can
Hey there! I really appreciate both the love and the critique, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! I believe I mention some of the developer insights you’re referring to around 10:25, where I touch on the official post on the website, the Reddit post, and the RUclips video regarding "UI improvements" and "Communication Failures". That said, I completely understand where you're coming from. In hindsight, I agree that some of the information about the roadmap, especially including the "Current & Upcoming Bug Fixes" post, could have generated their own chapter. This is especially true since there were more posts shared with the community, like the "Rarity & Monetization" update, but my video had already been exported and scheduled for release by the time that last one went live. To be transparent, I was trying to keep the video concise, as it kept growing in length throughout the editing process. Regardless, I see now how including more about Crytek’s recent commitments could have painted a fuller picture and better addressed their efforts to improve the game. Motivating more players to try the game. My main goal was to create a visual love letter to the game, balancing the incredible highs with the concerning lows, especially considering the feedback from players about past unfulfilled promises. I wanted to make sure the discussion about burnout and frustration resonated too. During the review process, I should have played with the idea of restructuring some elements with more care. As I continue on this journey, I’ll definitely take your feedback to heart and attempt to do better with every step. 🫰
I played since beta and just recently quit after 5k hours. You will soon quit as well. The servers are garbage, there are many bugs, and there are too many cheats now. Its a waste of time now.
old player here after 1,901 hrs i cant share your statement after that many hrs and eight yrs on it i'm just really tired of hunt and playing it just makes me stress.
Hey everyone! Thanks so much for watching and for all the new subscribers, I’m seriously grateful for all your support! 🫰
If you’re still unsure about Hunt: Showdown, I’ve got a little something for you: I’m giving away a free copy of the game to one lucky commenter!
Never played the game but this video made me reconsider if I should try it, keep with the good work
Thank you for the kind words!
You should! Trust me, nothing out there feels quite as unique as Hunt. The gunplay is on a whole different level...
It's so fkn good
1.2k hours player here.
600h player here, With a tac shooter background
To me hunt is like Cs/ valorant in a few ways, you have wait time, setup and bullshit kills (both good and bad) but the biggest difference is that there is always tension.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a nice comment! There's more stuff coming soon!
That adrenaline rush is unmatched, right? 😅 No other game seems to hit quite the same way, can't imagine going back to anything else at this point.
I agree with so much of what you said.
As a new player, just getting the hang of it, agreed, thanks for the video
Thank you for watching! The first step is tough, but once your cowboy boots hit the Bayou, you won’t want to leave. Stay safe out there, Hunter!
loved the video.. such quality of content. Keep at it!
Nice video , glad you enjoy hunt , and welcome to the community
Thank you! It's been a wild ride! 🤠
Specifically with trades over 50m bullet velocity has a bigger impact than ping
Its never repetitive. 3000h in Hunt and this is still my favorite game
Great vid can really feel the love.
Also a big fan been playing some 5 years now
Will say though the trade window in my opinion is really good.
Spot on , I'm 34 and gaming has been bad for a long time. Hunt is brilliant
Love to hear that! Hunt really is something special, so glad you found your game too! 🫰
Beautiful video, man! 😉
I think Ghostface wasn't a bad DLC, he fits really well into the universe aesthetically, especially since it's just the mask
Agree
@@patryk_4274 Indeed. It might just be what Hunt needs, but I guess we'll find out soon enough!
For the bug where you’re not able to use the search bar in your loadout menu. Use the shortcut to enable the search bar instead of clicking the search bar.
Hey! I appreciate you, I'll lean on that insight from now on, hopefully there's a fix soon for someone that struggled with it like myself.
Here’s how I look at it:
If we define ‘meta’ as the best agreed-upon strategy, I see it differently.
Just broke 6k hours myself. My favorite game ever. Awesome video, my man
Even I have low k/D this game is still the best game I played yet, anyway best video about games I ever watched actually is the first one I watched from start till end, very good well balanced review
you are the goat. subbed.
how many stars are you on?
No YOU are the goat! Appreciate you! 🫰
I've just recently graduated to 4 star MMR. But realistically, I don't know how much that suits me! 😅
I just started playing this the other day, the learning curve is a little steep but I’m having fun
i reached 1k hours last week, i think i finished the tutorial
Welcome to the bayou and thank you for the comment! Glad to hear you're having fun, stick with it, it's well worth it!
Hunt Showdown is the best FPS ever to me! My favorite game
Love to hear that! Hunt is definitely getting a special place in my heart.
Reading someone resonating with the video makes it super worth it. Here's to the games that pull us back in when we thought we'd lost it! 🫡
@ look forward to seeing where this channel goes man. Keep up the great work
Very goog video.
I play the game since 1800h and love it so much.
24:56 completely agree! It is such a great game even with its flaws! What more if it doesn't have any?! nice vid. keep it up!
I really appreciate the time you took getting up to that point in the video! I'll do my best to keep the quality up! 🙏
Great Video! Subscribed
keep going, i stilll love this game after 1200 houres i want more new players to join me in this game
Here’s hoping the experience only gets better for everyone!
very good quality video u dont see that often from smaller creators
Top notch quality video, man! It's nice to hear some positives in a game that is often suffering from hateful comments. Personally I have nearly 3k hours in the game and I have never thought of quitting. Of course the game has it's fair share of problems but, for me at least, it doesn't ruin the game as a whole.
Now we just gotta look forward for the coming patches and hopefully another reworked map :D keep slaying and maybe we'll meet eachother in the bayou/the mountains. Peace!
Very cool video! :)
After playing 2700hrs i just have to say enjoy the game for what it is now. when hitting 6 star the community becomes toxic and stressful. id say the removal of mmr would be waayy more enjoyable, never knowing what kind of lobby ill get what what loadouts ppl will run.
I'm not even gonna lie, I get jump-scared by the slightest movement in MMR.
Very high quality production. I feel you, I bought games, eg Frostpunk 2, ... But I keep falling back to this game.
This is a very good video, normally I don't show videos with so little views from people I don't know
Btw subscribed, and i am a 6000hrs huntplayer
Btw you forgot one mayor aspect: the community id helpful and not degenerates, very mature
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words and for subscribing, it really means a lot to me, especially knowing you’ve got 6k hours in Hunt! 🙏
You're right, I've had very few negative experiences, even with randoms.
Hunt GOAT
I'm at like 3k hours, and honestly I quit for a long while and just came back. It's currently the most fun I remember
Game is too good. Just fell in love w it
IMO Hunt Showdown is the most underrated FPS Game as of today. Despite it's decent graphics, gameplay and balancing. And despite it's THE extraction shooter that everybody wants and every other developers try to produce. Guys... you want a good extraction FPS shooter? It is already here... since 6 years. It has proven itself!
Are que getting any gameplay videos in the near future?
Of course, it's in the roadmap! I'm working on the next videos as we speak! 🤠
FACT!
Hunts got me addicted to gaming again more like
This was me 3 years ago, now it made me hate gaming again.
❤
❤
My favourite shooter :D
Glad you're enjoying it as much as I am!
Can concur, also love and hate this ip also.
Here’s hoping the positives will always outweigh the negatives! 🤞
damn only 1k views and 147 subs...
Hey! It’s just the beginning of the journey, and I’m really grateful for everyone showing up and supporting. Excited for what’s coming next!
These days I don't enjoy life and games, playing hunt was really fun but it only lasted 60 hours. then I got bored idk why but this is truth
Gamers are disproportionately passionate and a measured thoughtful response would serve them infinitely better. Intellect over emotion.
Well made.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. 🤠
Don't get me wrong: i love the game.
That's not all though. They decided to lock new weapons (some of which were and are clearly very strong and not just some meme nieche weapons) behind the BPs. Custom Ammo as well. If it were just cosmetics, i wouldn't care.
But locking gameplay behind a BP that's extremely grindy? No, lol.
But wait... there's EVEN MORE to just the BPs:
Of course they just HAD to add what's effectively "pay 2 win" - If you buy the Premium BP, you get 10% more event points (which is basically BP-Experience). If you have special Hunters, you gain an additional 10% event points...
You want to guess where you got those from..? :)
Oh and also if you bought the premium BP, you could see Event Points in game for LITERALLY DOUBLE THE RANGE normal players could with a trait (40 instead of 20 meters - which in Hunt is A LOT) - during the Serpent Moon event i think.
You could earn a respectable amount, but it still took very long.
Even after 3k hours my hands still shake after an intense fight
Hunt community sucks. Cries and whines about every single change. The game is not perfect but it's very much playable. The latest event is very good. New guns fit perfectly, new mode is great, Gunrunner brought tons on interesting loadouts. Good skins either. I enjoyed it
One great thing you haven't mentioned is in-game communication.
I totally agree, the community can be very passionate at times, but that’s because there’s so much love for the game. I’ll keep trying to stay true to myself and remain positive in my hunting expeditions. I know it can get tough the more hours someone dedicates to the game, but I’m confident it’ll all work out. I need this Crytek! 😤
I usually duo with a friend but I'll keep my microphone close by in my solo ventures!
Oh man you must’ve been down horrendous.
PC RDR2 is phenominal
It's funny because I've played since 2018 and the 1865 update made me quit playing.
Bro yapping about the review bombing without ever really using the old UI lol
But I guess if that's my biggest complaint the game's doing pretty good.
great video. i have about 2k hours in hunt its the best fps in my opinion nothing comes close.
I got about 70h but I ❤
There is 100% a meta in 6star lobbys tho. So the "no meta" stuff you talked about is not true. Very good video tho :)
I hear you, and it’s clear you've been invested in the game for a long time. Hope you don't mind me throwing in my two cents here;
Do you think it's really fair to say it used to be the most unique FPS on the PvP market?
Hunt made me hate gaming again
Can it win you back tho?
The only gripe I have is w the community. They’re nice to players but absolutely hate crytek. The discord is absolutely toxic and hate on everything. RUclips, twitch and other are better tho.
The last updates of Hunt Showdown made me, a player with over 3k hours on this game, quit. I don't even care about these ridiculous new skins. Its more the balancing.. bringing back bullshit traits like 2 long weapons and so many bonus perks for solo players... also many traps and other BS that keeps getting buffed. Game gets easier by the day. Perks like Death Cheat that make you want to keep ur hunter alive no matter what.. nah man. Game was awesome for years.. nowadays its just one event after the other so they can grab as much money as possible, luring in new players with Overpowered Traits, but losing Baseplayers on the way
I have mixed feelings about this video, the first half is freaking fantastic and it captures whats great about hunt and I was just thinking how I want to share the video to get my friends to the game
BUT
On the second half of the video where you start talking about the bugs and issues with the game, I feel that its a bit disingenuous to not also adress everything they are trying to do to improve it
Dont get me wrong as a someone who started playing rigth about when you did, i can relate to most of your issues and frustrations with the game but not addressing their latest commitments to improving all that, with time frames for that matter, is just lazy and is doing a massive disservice to your video
The reason im saying its lazy its cause this video came out AFTER everything has been addressed in multiple posts from the devs, so not adding that to the video like you did for the first 2 issues is just lazy in my eyes
Bottom line is, this video went from something I loved and realted and wanted to share with everyone to something I dont enjoy that much anymore and will not be sharing, even though I can relate to both parts of the video, not adressing the devs commitment to every problem you mentioned is doing a disservice to you and the community
People are gonna start the video wanted to play and leaving not wanting to play, while it is important to adress the good and the bad, its important to also adress where its going to
You need to do better, especially considering that you already ahowed us that you can
wait until you hit 6 star and it stops being fun
lmao
I played since beta and just recently quit after 5k hours. You will soon quit as well. The servers are garbage, there are many bugs, and there are too many cheats now.
Its a waste of time now.
Geezz its just a skin. They need money, if you don't like, don't buy it
old player here after 1,901 hrs i cant share your statement after that many hrs and eight yrs on it i'm just really tired of hunt and playing it just makes me stress.
This feeling is just for new players, when u see the amount of bugs, hackers, campers and bad teammates, you guys will not like the game this much
No dont try out hunt its a shit game thats keeps on getting shitier by every update
This game is stupid
why do you have that opinion? what's stupid about it?
❤
