I agree! If you think like me but haven't played smt4 and apocalypse then I highly recommend it as I consider it the second best game and possibly the best maybe the second best ost ever. Even when put up against ost of non video games.

I disagree, it had great elements and had potential but the fact that they turned what could have been tens of hours of gameplay into endless text narrating cut it to the bone. This is a perfect exemple of "show don't tell" not being respected to the extreme.

But games in the 97.. didn't , they were on CD you can't just add "10s of hours of game play" without adding another 3 cd -.- They would have to make a game coming out on 6 or 7 CD to make PLAYABLE everything that's written in Xenogears. What you said , its exactly what i say about Genshin impact, 20000 hours of wasted gameplay and lore written in books that nobody read. But games in the 97 had HUGE limits. So Xenogears made an exellent job considering that.

This reminds me of "Xenogears Light", which was a wonderful fan remix of some songs that came out way back in 2005. At the time, I had one of those little iPod Shuffles that looked like a stick of gum. Only so much space for music, and that album was always on it. It was quiet, gentle, something soothing when so much else was havoc all around me. This is as good as that, and I'm grateful for it. Thank you.

The attention to detail in the repeating keys fading out and starting again was wonderfully executed. yeah I think the vibe is due to liberal use of the other modes while the West only allowed Ionian and Aelion for centuries. This is why I gave up classical and just play JRPG music like this now. I like these modes better :)

I imported the Xenogears OST and Creid from Japan in 1998, I've never stopped loving these two records. Your performance blew my mind. It takes a lot of talent to play these songs because they can be both playful and melancholic at the same time. There's something religious in this OST and you've nailed it better than anybody else.

Going to put this on repeat during work. Skipped straight to Faraway Promise, and what occurs to me is how clear it is from this piano arrangement that it is the same melody as Broken Mirror, just on the music box in the game. This OST has been with me for years, decades even. Thanks.
