I understand your disappointment. The problem was that the people who were actually writing and producing the show screwed it up by trying to merge the original source material with a lame police procedural. Obviously the main character Has to have a life and conflict beyond his use of NZT - the way Eddie did with his girlfriend and with Carl Van Loon. But the show made the mistake of focusing way too much on his family life and his FBI job [and the characters he interacted with in those areas of his life] and not enough on the personal experience of using the drug for Brian and how that brought him into Eddie’s world - to say nothing of the larger Eddie subplot with his rogue former associates, his Presidential bid, his larger plan, etc... It didn’t help that they had a lot of real hokey gags on the show either. I know it was meant to be played for laughs a bit more than the movie, but there’s a way they could have done that without it devolving into adolescent silliness. Brian is supposed to be late 20s pushing 30; the way they portray him is more consistent with a 19-year-old.

The show should have just been the same as the movie with Bradley Cooper as the main character and either showing what happened in the whole year that was skipped at the end of the movie or the events after the end of the movie.

Imagine a series delving into the dark side of NZT, showcasing how EddieM climbs up the ladder, the people he had to go up against, how he cleans house, how he outsmarts literally everyone.
A series that goes into the vast knowledge and Information that EddieM consumed for the 5 years his been on NZT, as well as the combat and tactical skills he learnt.
The series should be dark, gritty and grounded with excellent dialog, acting and amazing character arcs.
There should be no villains or heroes, no good or bad guys, just those who survive and thrive, and those who die.
I would like to see Eddie as the main character, and how he struggles even on NZT, facing near impossible challenges.
The series can be set at a time where there were others using NZT, before he becomes the sole user, would make it interesting.
    3 seasons
    50min episodes
    Make it happen please
And please don't make the show a comedy, some humor is fine, but I don't want a Disney/MCU tone, I want Arkham Knight vibes, dark and mysterious.
I want to see the characters in fear and panic, fighting for their lives.
The show must be an emotional roller-coaster!

The way Brian talks he reminds me of a guy I went to school during my early college years; at first he seemed like a great guy, but when we attended a social event together, we signed up to become members of a student group, we became regulars at group meetings, he kept interrupting by complaining that he will never be happy just because he believed he would never find himself a girlfriend. I was single myself, but I told him, "There is more to the world than just wanting a girlfriend." His obsession became worse. After about a year, I helped the group leader kick him out of the group. He vowed revenge, but two years later he stopped spying on the group and hopefully has moved on.

But when it comes to Eddie Morra’s original self, he can’t stand what has happened to himself, and he is desperate to find some way to get rid of his dark personality.

I still don’t understand what happened to Lindy. It never explains that. And I don’t like Eddie’s character in this show. In the movie it’s about him getting himself together and using his brain to his fullest potential. But in this, he’s blackmailing and greedy and self centred. In the movie he says he weaned off them and kept what his brain learned. But in the show now he says he takes them again. Seems like he got greedy and couldn’t resist the urge for more. I don’t know. It never really explained that. I couldn’t watch anymore after a couple episodes I got so bored. And the soundtrack was no where near as epic and great as the movies. The whole soundtrack and show feels like a knock off of the movie to me. Not to diss on people who like it. That’s just personally my take. And also I thought the kid working for the FBI and was strange and didn’t make sense. Like they had a plot to make it make sense. But what I mean is I dunno it just felt like black mail and extortion. And things that changed after the movie that weren’t explained. That’s all that really bothers me about it. And mostly how eddies character changes. It’s like he lost his soul or something. It’s unnerving and although Bradley is a great actor it was just hard to watch eddies character be like that and not understand why or what happened to Lindy. He doesn’t even seem to care about love and relationships anymore. It’s like he got too hooked on nzt that he had to go back on (he was an addict so he is in a different way), and it turned him into a sociopath. Seeing people and things as pawns to get what he wants. Which is the very definition of a sociopath. And he seems to have lost all empathy. When he tries to come across empathic it really is like a sociopath pretending. Vs in the movie he cared so much about lindy. And he couldn’t stand the thought of losing her. What happened to that guy?

    • @Future_Hendrix

This is a perfect example of why censorship, ‘oversite’, and government funding are bad ideas for innovations like NZT. Eddie was independent, self-made success; he wasn’t perfect, made mistakes and yes he had his own agenda; but he didn’t try and dominate the world and didn’t have anyone treat him like a lab experiment or answer to anyone but himself.
Eddie accomplished so much more compared to Brian because he had more freedom/independence. Eddie even admits that he doesn’t want to be president because it would restrict his freedom. Brian was only given the bare minimum of NZT to last a few hours and only organized/compiled the records and files of the FBI. Such a waste.

He was constantly struggling to be who he was in face of so many threats.
And hoe no matter what he tried, or how he rationalised his situation, he still wanted to be a good guy who does right by others.
Even when the entire world and even himself on NZT said he needed to be stronger, tougher, colder.
But he remained himself and saved people, he remained to good person that he was.
That personal struggle is what i love about his character.

So the black chick nurse is hearing everything said, why is she still a nurse? Don't you think all the secret is blown. If you were injecting NZT into people wouldn't you be competing with Bradley Cooper's character? So, two people on NZT would , essentially, be tied? Extending this out makes no sense. Cooper would likely want NOBODY to know about it, NZT, so he would have done it in a way where nobody else knows except for those whom he wanted to know. I doubt it's a nurse. This is where writers fall short of imagining well....that's why you shouldn't watch TV or Movies for plot only for character traits and ideas.

If you stack Amphetamine or Ethylamphetamine (Blue Speed) with CBD and 7,8-Dihydroxyflavone (tropoflavin), you can have Amphetamine/Ethylamphetamine every day if you want to. Modafinil is safer anyway. Modafinil is stronger than coffee and energy drinks, safer than coffee and energy drinks, and is cooler.
