An Explorer 'one watch' still needs a back up watch when the time comes to send it off for two months to get serviced and also something to wear for watch risky activities like cycling or DIY or going to see your bank manager to plead for an overdraft due to over exposure in the luxury watch market.
I honestly don’t understand why people still try to make smartwatches and high quality mechanical watches a this-or-that dilemma. They aren’t, they exist parallel with one another, they serve different purposes, one doesn’t replace the other.
Nice song my man. Strapco makes some great straps for the seiko arnie. Makes it more wearable for me. 1 of my fav watches but i hate the original strap
No such thing as a One Watch Collection. One watch can't be a collection. If yiu ate into watches, you aren't going to own just one watch. Now, if you multiple Explorers then yes you are a One Model Collector. The One Watch Collection is just fatuous conversation.
Thank you for the shoutout. I really like the Q and A style vids. I'm looking forward to your next video about the apple watch. As someone who has only owned androids, there are plenty of benefits to owning an apple watch. You can make the argument that apple watches are the best value for money because the specs beat any mechanical or quartz watch by a landslide.
There is no such thing as a "one watch collection". Just the same way as there is no such thing as a "one book collection" or "one car collection" or "one collection". Collection means there is more than one. This newspeak drives me crazy!
LOL at the comment and question at 0:58 Some people don't know what they want and need others to tell them what they are supposed to want. And to the question at the end... yes, if you buy a watch then you buy something that is just a watch. It's obvious.
Thank you so much Guy! I really appreciate your comments about doing this responsibly, instead of neglecting other areas of my life...i will slowly save up, and you know, if in 2 years or however long, the Explorer is still what i want, I'll get it. And if i don't like it, I'll sell it.. The ultimate dream however would be for Omega (usually my number 1 brand) to make a watch which was a similar size to the Explorer (e.g. Railmaster 36mm) with new modern specs, a solid case back and maybe 10mm thickness and 37mm case size.... wow...or a diver with a similar dial to the 2254.50 era of Bond divers, but the size of the new Black Bay 54.. and that wave hippocampus solid case back.. now THAT would be a dream watch.... old vintage Seamasters look great too. So maybe one of them with 150m water resistance, and thin proportions, e.g. Seamaster 1948 but a thin version with a solid case back and a screw down crown... how GOOD would that watch be.... come on Omega! Stop the fat chunky watch trend please! So I'll get the Explorer, unless omega make my dream watch.. I also love JLC, but for a do it all watch, i would need decent water resistance Thank you again, that was a really good response to my question. Now time to watch the rest of the video ❤️🔥
This was a nice video Guy. It felt like a few of the questions were weird attempts at insulting you or being a smart ass. I enjoyed the video and your answers.
A great Q & A Guy, I can't disagree with any of your answers. Saving up for the grail watch makes a lot of sense but there is nothing wrong with having another watch on the way as long as it doesn't affect the grail watch fund. Mechanical, digital or a mixture of both get the watch that you want as you say. Value, availability and what social media spurts out should not sway what you want to wear on the wrist. The new intro was a nice change and the new music on the end was very well done in my humble opinion with great video editing to the sound track. Needless to say I'm a big Alien film fan and I still want Seiko to re-introduce the Ripley. Many thanks for sharing.
Thanks Anthony, glad you like the music and video. Aliens was my inspiration when I wrote the music, so it made sense to cut a video from the movie with the music I wrote. I think it turned out decent, for being an amateur. And yes! Please Seiko reintroduce the Ripley we need that watch back on the market.
Enjoyed that - cheers Guy. Hard to believe some of those opinions, remarks or questions were actually written. Honestly..... anyway keep up the good work. Additionally, thought your music sounded great 👍
Great song and great Q&A video! In the increasingly unlikely event I start my own RUclips channel, I would hit you up for some original music. As for the watch questions, I am reminded of how the watch hobby is naturally self-involved and watch enthusiasts, including myself, tend to project our preferences and expectations onto others-sometimes to justify the paths we have taken with our collections, and sometimes just some dogma we picked up from the vocal minority in the watch community. Not trashing those who asked the questions or your answers but a bit of existential examination of this ridiculous hobby. Keep up the great content, Guy!

Screw the watch, that shirt steals the show! 🦈
Thanks, I do like my Jaws shirt.
In the past you have said that two watches is the perfect sized collection. Has your opinion changed over time?

Well said, totally agree.
Absolutely!!!!

Interesting I might have to look into those straps. Id love to own an Arnie but I just can't see myself wearing it the way it fits out of the box.
One watch used to be enough for me. Until I started watching channels like yours 😅
Haha sorry
Put the apple watch on your right hand and wear your Rolex Submariner on your left hand.
Your loosing your way Guy.
I can't wear 2 watches, something about it feels wrong to me.
@JustBlueFish lol thanks for replying
Will saying "BullSh*t" get you demonetized?
I don’t think so

Plot twist, when you do finally get your grail watch you will feel satisfied, but then after a while….
Awesome song, pure 80s synthwave. Keep it up.
Thanks for listening and for the feedback. I appreciate it.
Playing your guitar solo out in the extensions was cool Guy. Later for the trolls Peace!
Thank you so much Guy!

My pleasure, hope the video was of some help.

Yeah, maybe some were? I don't mind, I've been getting insulting comments for years lol.

Vangelis vibes at the beginning of the song, gorgeous Sigourney and synth-pop sound I listened to growing up. Very nice 👍
Vangelis, that's high praise thank you.
2:01 Yeah, good luck!
Great video man. I got surprised seeing an Iwatch on your wrist!
haha you're not the first.
To waste money on an expensive watch in this current economic climate is lunacy and terrible money management.
Is the economy that bad? Everyone I talk to says they're making more money than ever.
@@JustBlueFishLucky them they are obviously part of the 5 percent.
Sweet music and vid, Guy!
Thank you!

Loved the music 👍👍👍
Awesome thanks!
A one-watch collection can't not have a date.
Interesting point.... I think it's the opposite for me but that's a fair opinion
A date complication is cool, I'm glad I have it on my Submariner, but I could live without a watch that has a date.
Why do people say one watch collection? I would call it, one and done watch. A collection is plural!
@@conradcoolerfiend yeah, technically you are probably right. But I don't have many hairs left to split so I'm ok calling it a one watch collection.
Considering the original purpose for a watch is to tell the time only means a date is surplus to requirement. Time only is fine.
