My other (ex)friends laughed it off with her, but I said “Your beauty doesn’t go when you get old, it stays with you,” and tears. She cried and hugged me. I truly miss her so much and I hope her little family is doing well. She wasn’t that old either only 33.

@@lornam1142 Many asians look way younger than their actual age. I'm 27 but still get mistaken for being 18. Just because some people have a certain aesthetic standard doesn't automatically make them a pedophile 🙄
@@dreamxx I look very young for my age too. My point is more about the society as a whole and not an individual. In China, women who aren’t married by 25 are considered leftovers. The age of consent is 14. The fetishization of girls has real world consequences and affects how women of all ages are treated.
@@lornam1142 I do agree that fetishization is a big problem and can encourage sexual predation on young girls. That said, it's not fair to generalize and assume the worst of people that have certain aesthetic preferences (and I say that as a woman myself). Isn't the real issue the fact that people have a tendency to oversexualize everything which makes it impossible to have any kind of discussion about beauty / aesthetic standards without it eventually leading to this particular topic?
@@dreamxx These kinds of beauty standards are linked to that. So many beauty standards are meant to make women look super young and submissive. exactly man. like shouldn't grown adults be attracted to grown adults AND NOT CHILDREN?? I'm convinced that a "childlike face" is a trend because people like children but know it's weird to like children.
Maybe childlike here refers to youthful features like having a baby face etc. those features are also attractive. Although, there's some cases that certain people are having weird fantasies about it.
Maybe it’s because they want to look Eurocentric. I went to East Asia and they said white women look more youthful because we have big eyes, slim nose and “small face”. They also always say we thend to have oval face more than them that is why they shave their jaw bone, apparently East Asian women have wider waves and jaw bone than use
@@XanaxMilf lmao no, ain't no way u said that european women are more childlike than east easians. European women have sharper features, east Asians have more childlike features. @@bruhno1545 they didn’t say “child like” they said youthful. Know the different. We european have sharpe features but we also have the combined with soft features if you’re a woman. That is because studies show we look more sexually dimorphic than East Asians that is why East Asian men and women look like the same gender they tend to be androgynous looking and usually their hair is what makes you tell. That is why it is easy for Asian men to a transowman but European men who look masculine. While European men and women have extreme masucline and feminine features setting us apart. Also japanese don’t have smaller faces, that is why they always say us European have small faces and also the reasons why they have surgery that shaves their bones while us European dont have it because our faces are smaller to theirs according to them. I didn’t see it until they mentioned and it is true. The average East Asian doesn’t look youthful you are watching too much Kpop who have surgery. If you go in the streets in Korea or Japan they have big faces and small eyes and that is the average face. Another lie people say is that they are mostly pale and it is not true: they have very yellow understones without whiter foundation. They have wider noses from the front view while we have slimmer smaller noses from the front view and their nose is flatter on the side view while we have taller noses on the side with projecting sharper tip that upturns(which is cool moon in us Scandinavian women). We also have a smaller nose tip that is defined while they’re is more bulbous and round. Their noses are not smaller it is just flatter and wider in the front. They also don’t have smaller lips, we have smaller lips. East Asians have fuller lips than us on average that is why lip Filler is more common in the west and Europe than in east Asia and Africans and they don’t have smaller face that is why they shave their face bone structure to look oval and small while we barely do that in the west because people here have smaller face

Guys, youthful and innocent does NOT equate to looking like a child. What is aimed for is an attractiveness that focuses on a lively and youthful beauty rather than on "sexy." The whole point is not to look like a child. The point is to look like you don't have the wrinkles and darkness that come with age and hard labor, and to come off as someone who is cheerful, optimistic, and not too sexually open. Most Chinese people don't find an appearance that gives off sexual openness to be attractive. Western aesthetics tend to come off as way too sexual.

People are hating China but when we think about it it’s the same everywhere(I get it not EVERYWHERE). There’s these crazy beauty standards all around the world so instead of just throwing hate to one country we should try to stop beauty standards overall. For the billionth time, the beauty standard is to look YOUTHFUL NOT like a child
I think the reason why this one is especially bad is because the beauty standard there is to look like a child basically, it’s just gross and disgusting. Infantilising adults is just no
The beauty standard is basically to look like a child, I’ve never seen this outside Asia, if I saw one of these women in real life I would be creeped the f out, they don’t even look real
Chinese beauty standards are very strictly enforced in China, and promote literally looking as close to a child as possible and being borderline underweight so I’d say that’s a bit worse in some ways. I don’t agree with meaninglessly hating on china especially when other East Asian countries have a similar standard, but China is still especially bad with both the standards they have and how pressured women are to achieve them.
It's not the same. The beauty standard is 1. Very colorist, more so than in the U.S, 2. Very thinness-oriented, to the point that being underweight is considered "peak attractiveness". Natural curves - the beauty standard of the U.S, are healthy. Also, people who don't fit the beauty standard are judged more harshly in EA countries than they are in the U.S
As a Chinese, I’m telling you that is not Chinese beauty standard that I grew up with. Don’t generalize Chinese beauty standard by some sick online beauty trends. Chinese doesn’t just have one beauty standard. Why don’t you look at the more mainstream beauty standard of Chinese women? Mature, graceful, confident and independent.
Actually chinese just like the rest of Asia prefer woman with oval face. This childlike baby face only happened around 2 decades ago Meanwhile in west, they prefer woman with muscular feature such as square jaw
@@arx117 that is the current trends in popular online culture. But look at the actors and actresses in older dramas and movies, and all the TV hosts. Those faces are the main stream beauty standard.

Ok as a Chinese I need to say that the "childlike face" doesn't actually mean they want to look like a 13 year old but more of 18 or 17, just kinda youthful, not a baby face bruh
I think you are right. It’s an attraction to innocence instead of the throw lady parts in your face we see here in the US. Our culture cannot comprehend an innocent attraction over an extremely sexual one. It makes me sad for people to impose that filter on your culture. I’m so sorry.
As an Asian, I consider Asian beauty standards as far too strict and ridiculous. There's no variation in how someone should look Growing up as a mixed race Asian in an Asian household was difficult. I meet none of the standards so I have felt extremely unattractive However, since American beauty standards are a little more varied,I fall into the "exotic" category. I've had people tell me I'm beautiful, cute etc. But I will never feel like it with all the pressure I faced as a child and teenager. I was pushed to meet the standards of Korean society while growing up in American society and while not looking Korean. Please be kind to yourself.. If you wanna lose weight, look better, feel better etc, do it. It'll take work and a change in diet and stuff but it's way better than having plastic surgery to meet impossible standards. You can get plastic surgery if you want but don't get it to please anyone else. Don't do it just to get someone's attention. You have to do it for you
I will also say if the beauty standards you’re trying to meet are actually impossible don’t bother trying to lose weight to meet those either… work out and diet to better your physical strength and health, otherwise you might end up with very unhealthy eating or workout patterns which can get dangerous quick, especially with the very thin body that Koreans expect.
I feel this so much. I’m mixed Asian too and don’t fit into the beauty standards of South Korea and Japan (what I’m made up of) I’m looked at as exotic in the U.S. as well. I’m mixed with white as well and I feel like I don’t even fit into any of the standards anywhere- lol The pressure is real and the standards are unrealistic I absolutely agree with you. I look like a good mix of both but I don’t fit into the standards in Asia or America? I do more so in the U.S. but definitely not in places like Korea. And plastic surgery sounds a bit scary so-
I'm mixed, but mostly white and have the most Asian features of my generation in my family, but also the whitest coloring. Growing up I struggled with never meeting the American beauty standards of looking elegant, sexy, and beautiful. Later I realized all of my previous insecurities that cause me to look very different than women on TV were because they are Asian features! American society has this idea that if you're naturally blonde you're super white and have to fit this box, but when I discovered my smile, chin, eyes, under eye bags, face shape, ect was all just Japanese and were sought after there, it was really relieving and freeing for me. Now ive learned to embrace looking cute and childlike versus the general beauty standard (though its still a bit hard). Crazy how that happens, huh? It's nice to see someone else went through the same thing, though I'm sorry you did as well! Glad we aren't alone! 😁 Being from different races can be so confusing sometimes...
It’s truly concerning how many people go under the knife to achieve a type of beauty that will be short lived. It’s one thing if you want to get your old face back or something after going through a traumatizing event, like a fire or acid burn, but doing it simply to fit the mold that will be discarded for the next “best” thing is heartbreaking.
Aint that the truth. In my youth, blonde hair, tanned skin was popular. Me being pale skinned brunette, I was confident in who I was/am. I did not care what was in style. Confidence is the key to beauty. But you wait awhile, your looks may be back in style one day, at least for short time.
@@carolinehannah5188 that too is also true, beauty & fashion trends become recycled & rebranded as something new or better when it’s already been done before, which further proves you will never be “pretty” to those trends’ standards.
Instead of referring to it as a childlike face, it refers to more of a cute and youthful look. I think Chinese people just prefer a cute and non-intimidating look. That is why they like the short/round face shape, big eyes and delicate features.

Nah I’m sure you’re cute, l think this youthful type of beauty standard is more popular with the older gens as I’ve been seeing more and more younger people having the same style as you
it is not really THAT big of a deal in China now, there are a lot of different styles, and a lot of people like ur style as well (like me) this child-like trend is just 1 type of trend. And not everyone like these childlike trend (some people actually hate it because a lot of people does this "filter" to idk how to say it in English but like "seduce" the viewers and to get money online.) but overall I still think that this childlike trend has to stop, or at least to not be that big of a deal anymore.

I am Chinese American and I am almost 30 and I like people who look “ child like “ face too! Its not as weird as people think ! Doesnt mean you are a pedophile or a groomer . I like “ child like “ face because when I was young I love anime . And what does an anime character loon like ? Big eyes . Small lips . Small nose and round shape head ., and also less structures and more “ flat “and for anime boys , well shaven . You dont see boys in anime having facial hair And those features usually consider “ child like “ and youthful. When I see some adults with “ child like “ faces they dont remind of children or teenagers . They reminded me of anime characters. And since I grew up watching anime I consider people resemble those looks beautiful . Yes i know anime characters are not real and real people dont look like that but i do find people who have slightly resembles that look attractive
Wow since when did plastic surgery become more popular in China. I still don't know anyone who's had it from China. I know it's more common in Korea for sure. I thought it was kind of common in east asia countries for people who can afford it and give a f on how they look. China i thought would be the same as korea in that regard.
Actually these people are way generous then those who undergo various treatments just to look beautiful. These people don't waste their time on nonsense like "fitting in beauty standards". Loving yourself the way you are is the biggest blessing that one can get because no one can make you insecure about how you look or what your external features are. These people just promote inner beauty.

Let me list it: -Golden skin colour -Doe eyes -Healthy figure( not obese, not skinny) -Moon personality( calm, bright etc) -Red lips - Long, Black, Straight hair - Small Asian nose -soothing voice ( people actually practice to speak softly) Tbh, this has been the standards for more than 1000 years, it was inspired from a princess who was believed to be the most beautiful at her time. If you have any 2 of the mentioned above, you will get compliments even from strangers..😅 I feel like the standards are more healthy. Easy to achieve ❤
I've actually heard that Chinese tend to like more womanly looking women than Korea and Japan. This is the first time I've heard of child like faces being a thing. I think she means youthful, not literally looking like a child. But I think this may be some online trends rather than what everyone wants in China.
omg I used to be insecure about how my ears are sticking out. now knowing that they literally taped their ears to achieve what I have is such a self confidence booster.
I have elf ears. This video made me realized the reason for having s small face. My mom used to hide my ears by covering it with hairs but still stick out. I used to feel shy about it but as i grew older i learnt to ignore it and just accepted that its part of who i am 😂
And my mom intentionally made my ear like that when I am not even chineese I am Indian but my mom liked a footballer ear (saurab ganguli-wrong spelling maybe) and when I grew up a little I asked my mom "look mom mine and the rats ear look same" only after I said that she realised that she made a mistake
A beautiful woman is confident, kind and compassionate. Sadly, modification of a young woman's physical appearance has nothing to do with one's character. Chinese woman, as is, are amazingly attractive and good hearted. I've met many fine people from China.
I have those features and I do get attention but if I went to China, I would not be considered attractive simply because I'm African American. It's sad when you want to have something like a simple life with someone but you must become a beauty standard first before even achieving it. The world we live in is so vain. Vanity, it's all vanity.
CHINESE women are naturally “pao laeng” beautiful. They don’t need any plastic surgery… like my wife who is a Sino-Khmer (Chinese Cambodian): adorable, voluptuous, smart, and kind. Love l❤her everyday.
And me here in the middle of nowhere I just ruined my baby face to look like adult matured youth and I later realized that I need to be just the way I am but it was already late gosh
I think having natural looks is better having plastic surgery can have bad side effects Edit:beauty standards are mostly impossible to reach and toxic so having natural looks is better

@@lornam1142 I do agree that fetishization is a big problem and can encourage sexual predation on young girls. That said, it's not fair to generalize and assume the worst of people that have certain aesthetic preferences (and I say that as a woman myself). Guys, youthful and innocent does NOT equate to looking like a child. What is aimed for is an attractiveness that focuses on a lively and youthful beauty rather than on "sexy." Chinese beauty standards are very strictly enforced in China, and promote literally looking as close to a child as possible and being borderline underweight so I’d say that’s a bit worse in some ways. As an Asian, I consider Asian beauty standards as far too strict and ridiculous. There's no variation in how someone should look
Growing up as a mixed race Asian in an Asian household was difficult. I meet none of the standards so I have felt extremely unattractive
However, since American beauty standards are a little more varied,I fall into the "exotic" category.
You have to do it for you
You are from east asia right cause' south asia is chill if being honest and the only standard is I to have fair skin nothing else lmfao
I will also say if the beauty standards you’re trying to meet are actually impossible don’t bother trying to lose weight to meet those either… work out and diet to better your physical strength and health, otherwise you might end up with very unhealthy eating or workout patterns which can get dangerous quick, especially with the very thin body that Koreans expect.
tendency to create hierarchies based on differences causes suffering.
I feel this so much. I’m mixed Asian too and don’t fit into the beauty standards of South Korea and Japan (what I’m made up of)
I’m looked at as exotic in the U.S. as well. I’m mixed with white as well and I feel like I don’t even fit into any of the standards anywhere- lol
The pressure is real and the standards are unrealistic I absolutely agree with you.
Beauty is beauty, no matter which kind of beautiful it may be. It is your thoughts that are too dirty and stain beauty.

Girl, I can relate too I am not very skinny, but I have a V-shaped jawline and girl try cutting curtain bangs if your parents don't allow u to then try French braids or bubble braids hope this helped💖
Same
samee and how i complain about my cheeks being chubby
❤ incredible China 🇨🇳 ❤
You know what's considered pretty in China? my ultimate fav actress Zhao Lusi❤
I love that she isn't super skinny
OMG! Most of asian girls are already naturally beautiful with child like faces. No need to go extreme.
World please...can we please start moving away from all these crazy beauty standards?!
It's such an unintelligent conversation......people need to get over themselves as trust me we all going the same way. Time stands still for no one. Unless the age process can be reversed but not in our lifetime ✌️😎🙏
just use AI video filter
Everyone is saying that they wished it wasn’t like that in china but the same people go and get lip fillers, Botox and plastic surgery in America
It's about wanting to look youthful because it's about aspiring to be healthy, not necessarily childlike. Being too childlike is actually not revered in China because it means you're immature.
I think everyone is beautiful and they don't need plastic surgery ❤😊
I am Chinese American and I am almost 30 and I like people who look “ child like “ face too! Its not as weird as people think ! Doesnt mean you are a pedophile or a groomer .
I like “ child like “ face because when I was young I love anime . And what does an anime character loon like ? Big eyes . Small lips . Small nose and round shape head ., and also less structures and more “ flat “and for anime boys , well shaven . You dont see boys in anime having facial hair
And those features usually consider “ child like “ and youthful. When I see some adults with “ child like “ faces they dont remind of children or teenagers . They reminded me of anime characters. And since I grew up watching anime I consider people resemble those looks beautiful . Yes i know anime characters are not real and real people dont look like that but i do find people who have slightly resembles that look attractive
please don't try to excuse yourself around this, you're a creep, never have kids, end of story
Wow since when did plastic surgery become more popular in China. I still don't know anyone who's had it from China. I know it's more common in Korea for sure.
Also, it's about wanting to look youthful because it's about aspiring to be healthy, not necessarily childlike. Being too childlike is actually not revered in China because it means you're immature.
I thought it was kind of common in east asia countries for people who can afford it and give a f on how they look. China i thought would be the same as korea in that regard.
people saying you're good the way you are don't understand why beauty standards even exist
@@pnts1306 okay fair point
If people who don't understand, love themselves more the way they are, then maybe more people shouldn't understand beauty standards.
It’s american trend mentality to be «good enough» the way you are, they were raised on this culture brainwash to do minimal effort and to be ok to live in poverty in us
Bc why should we care? Yolo 🤦🏾♀️
There was a time when we were all trying to conceal our eyebags and dark circles.
aegyo sal aren't eyebags. it's thin bags of fat underneath your eyes that are highlighted when you smile
The sad part is that western beauty standards are equally creepy. Hairless, short, babyface. Not much of a difference
Imagine having all these traits but you live in a different country very far from China 😂
It's not a fun experience but we can't help our genetics!
You forgot to mention video filters is a must use in 99% of the looks online nowadays in China too 😂😂😂
Aegyo sal is Korean. Please use the term silk worm for Chinese
ELF EARS ARE A BEAUTY STANDARD?
Someone called me dumbo the friendly elf 😭
In elementary school my nickname was "troll ears" for a while lol, was surprised to see them on a list like this. But honestly, everything either already has been or will eventually become a trend, I think it's beautiful
Isn’t it kinda weird that what is “attractive” is to look like a literal child. That doesn’t sit right idk
I think the most beautiful is natural. Being happy and natural
It's better to look your age
Aging is absolutely beautiful and you are beautiful the way you are
Aging is not beautiful, we are getting closer to death
Asians tend to look younger/age slower than westerners, so expecting that they are 20-23, they do, in fact, look their age.
Us girls are beautiful the way we are
Now i am quite proud of the beauty standards at my motherland.
Let me list it:
-Golden skin colour
-Doe eyes
-Healthy figure( not obese, not skinny)
-Moon personality( calm, bright etc)
-Red lips
- Long, Black, Straight hair
- Small Asian nose
-soothing voice ( people actually
practice to speak softly)
Tbh, this has been the standards for more than 1000 years, it was inspired from a princess who was believed to be the most beautiful at her time.
If you have any 2 of the mentioned above, you will get compliments even from strangers..😅
I feel like the standards are more healthy. Easy to achieve ❤
Damn, I love your motherland beauty standards ❤
So basically in China they want a child but legal
I've actually heard that Chinese tend to like more womanly looking women than Korea and Japan. This is the first time I've heard of child like faces being a thing. I think she means youthful, not literally looking like a child. But I think this may be some online trends rather than what everyone wants in China.
@@Ldancingcat I just wrote it for fun
I dont know bout yall but if the beauty standard is 'child like' i think theres a big issue 😭⁉️
When we make women look like young people, we will treat young people like older ones. This can surely be problematic for the innocent young ones.
I like all natural Chinese face. Like the ones I grew up with my fellow Fujian Chinese here in the Philippines.
omg I used to be insecure about how my ears are sticking out. now knowing that they literally taped their ears to achieve what I have is such a self confidence booster.
do you mean.... _elf_ confidence booster
So basically look like a child…I don’t think I even have to say how creepy that is😶
Zhao Lusi✨❤️
Hah i did need expensive surgery to achieve "baby eye fat". Just have terrible sleeping habits! 😂
Zhao lusi❤
This beauty standard is outrageous
So like japan, korea, thailand
I have those features and I do get attention but if I went to China, I would not be considered attractive simply because I'm African American. It's sad when you want to have something like a simple life with someone but you must become a beauty standard first before even achieving it. The world we live in is so vain. Vanity, it's all vanity.
Go to my country and you will be loved and appreciated
@@annelyncerbas4543What is your country?
In China, you will be loved more as an African American than if you were just African.
No matter how you change your appearance physically, you can't change your appearance genetically.
I HAVE ALL THESE QUALITIES 😂
That’s because you’re 12.
@@emilybarclay8831 HOW DID U KNOW MY AGE
In the uk if your ears stick out you get bullied
CHINESE women are naturally “pao laeng” beautiful. They don’t need any plastic surgery… like my wife who is a Sino-Khmer (Chinese Cambodian): adorable, voluptuous, smart, and kind. Love l❤her everyday.
Woman’s in china so cute and beautiful and pretty
And me here in the middle of nowhere I just ruined my baby face to look like adult matured youth and I later realized that I need to be just the way I am but it was already late gosh
ok but this made me less insecure abt my ears bcuz they stick out ❤️
I think having natural looks is better having plastic surgery can have bad side effects
Edit:beauty standards are mostly impossible to reach and toxic so having natural looks is better
"Aegyo sal" is Korean, not chinese.
I have hated my elf ears since i was a child and knowing that it is one of the beauty standards if China doesn't make me feel better to be honest.
People do all this.. but doesnt understand true beauty is of the soul and not the body
Their traditional style ❤❤❤
'if men find out we can shapeshift'
I couldn't agree less. As I know, Chinese men likes all types of women. That's over-generalizing. Also, I think that is more like what women thinks men likes.
Make them look as child like as possible…yea that’s TOTALLY not ringing off any bells.
I love East Asia's dedication to beauty ❤❤
