    The amazing thing about this is the amount of fill that was brought in to build the embankment for the runway... it needed a special, temporary railway line to be built! Great video, thank you.

      Didn't know about the temporary railway line, but makes sense I guess. One massive engineering project! Thanks for watching 🙂👍

    Blimey, I used to walk the loop starting at the Mobberley end of the runway, up to the tunnel, cross under and and follow the paths and fire access road back to Mobberley most Sundays. Used to regularly see a Coronation St “mechanic” walking his dogs. I’m in Surrey now but loved this video for the memories.

      I get to walk around the perimeter of Kenley Airfield, over the hill from Biggin Hill. It’s a retained airfield by MOD and is part memorial to Battle of Britain airmen English, Canadian and Polish etc. It is only used by gliders currently, a gliders club and RAF training and an Air Cadets centre. My daughter lives adjoining the perimeter and we walk her retriever there, it’s very popular with dog walkers unlike the Runway 2 walk we used to do, that was always quiet.😅

    Nice video …. All river bridges are numbered in the uk or date built MM stands for built in 2000 …. mm being Roman numerals M is 1000 so tunnel was built 1 year before runway

    • @James_and_Laura
      @James_and_Laura  22 дня назад

      Thanks Tom! 🙂👍 Yes, I assumed the MM stood for the year built but then I read an article in the Manchester Evening News that gave the explanation that I put on the screen. I should have probably stuck with my gut instinct 😄 Cheers for watching 👍👍

    Been to the track at 02:52 a few time over the last 8 years and having booked a hotel room for a long weekend each time, I get to spend whole days there each time. There are little pockets where the bushes are trampled down to give enough room to get set up with a camping chair and all your photo gear. With a decent lens, it's a superb location for landing shots. I've done the tunnel a couple of times as well.

    Could you send directions how to get to the tunnel under runway please from near it at mini roundabout underneath the road that goes under runway

    • @James_and_Laura
      @James_and_Laura  Месяц назад +1

      If it's the roundabout I think then there's a public footpath marked on Google Maps from the roundabout, around the fire station and straight towards the tunnel. Hope this helps. Cheers, James
