      @@collin6238 It is a regional airline. It is owned by Delta. 141 is flight training but it has been evaluated and approved by the FFA so they get reduced minimums and hour requirements. Just finished my ATPL in Portugal, starting a320 type soon, and money is realy a struggle but there are alot of ways to do the ATPL, like modular where you take modules one by one ! Work hustle get the money, get the modules and in 3 4 years you will have the ATPL ! money is not the problem, stillness and waiting for something to happen is ! if you are waiting for the 100k to start the ATPL will take longer than doing them step by step ! keep studying, keep hustling and dont give up on your dream !

    I was very fortunate, my dad was a flight instructor. I instructed all through college, serving in the reserves as an enlisted Marine and even had 28 hrs in a fighter jet / war bird. The F-4. Every ride I took in military flight training counted as 2.5 for the 1st phase, and 2.0 once we transitioned to trainer jets. I did stay back for 3 months and served as an instructor, and still landed, no pun intended, at my replacement squadron assignment 1 year after joining. They did something really rare for me. They frocked me to the rank of 1st lieutenant, to save me from experiencing a year out in the fleet as a 2nd lieutenant.
    The most important thing you’ll ever do, is get your seniority date at an airline. Hence, getting my wings in the military early, started the clock on the minimum active duty time I owed them. Which put my back in the reserves, still as an aviator, and at an airline.
    The military has many platforms that do not have weapons systems. Military flying does not have to involve combat, if that would be an issue for you. It’s the route I recommend to anyone who is pursuing an airline career. If you are in the United States and you choose the air national guard, it’s very possible to end up at an airline by the time you’re 25-26, and I’m talking a major carrier, not a regional. You can use the guard to pay for your college, go to the command you want to serve, tell them you want to be a maintainer at that unit while you go to college and also build time as an instructor. My airline actually hired a 24 year old recently. She made it through the training, and the two years they want you to harden off with the unit, as an active duty member.
    Study ways to fall asleep fast, it is different for everyone, but I can be out in about 5 minutes, even if I just woke up 3 hours prior, and I’ve mastered short napping. A 20 minute deep nap, and I’m very fresh for 3-4 hours. That covers most domestic flights.

      @@rossstevenson2532 Most US crews are professional, I would say, as a group, in the airlines I have flown in, I’d give them a 7.5/10, while the foreign crews I have interacted with are at a higher level. I think the difference comes from several factors. 1. More rigorous selection and training 2. Cultural differences and 3. Some of those airlines are willing to fire a crew member for not coming well prepared to a training event, or if they repeatedly showed up to work not wearing the uniform correctly. I have seen and flown with pilots who wear cargo pants, black sneakers, and even crocs. And I have had training events where the pilots obviously didn’t prepare and nobody seems to care too much.

I have a friend who was a pilot for about 25 years (retired now). He talked about finally feeling he was a "glorified bus-driver". This is true ... but the excitement of flying is also true. To keep the sense of excitement, and the necessary alertness, alive, I think most of the time during any given year pilots should be doing something other than flying.

    If you are in a direct program to a main line carrier, fine. If, however, you are doing commercial flying, even in jets, and hoping to be accepted, there are a few things to consider. 1) DEI is stronger than ever. If you are a woman or a minority, you will not be asked, at least initially, to meet the the same standard.. You will receive "extra" training from the carrier to get you up to speed. If you worked hard to get good and you are not a woman or a minority, tough luck for you. 2) Ageism is a big thing. No one says it, but if you are 45 or older, they don't really want you unless you have time in type. 3) For several years, your life will suck until you can pick good lines to fly. 4) This is not a good lifestyle for those who like to live healthy, balanced lives. Marriages die in aviation. 5) I only recommend this as a career for those who have not developed skills that allow you to be home every night. Flying is fun, but when you are doing it for someone else, it is a lot less fun. Hear me on this. HTH.

    And of course the most negative aspect of being an airline pilot but one most pilots never discuss is boredom. The job is arguably one of the most boring jobs in the world. Doing the exact same thing day in day out followed by staring at a PFD or clouds for hours on end in the cruise. And that’s it you sit there trying to make conversation with a guy you don’t know desperate to kill some time.

    Hey Pascal, as someone who is considering a career in aviation, I was wondering if you had any thoughts on what people like me could do for some work experience, (for now outside of the airlines), that flight schools might value?

    • @i_wanna_be_a_pilot
      @i_wanna_be_a_pilot Месяц назад +1

      If you can meet with a flight school at Pilot Careers Live, for example (UK only, Heathrow), will be good for airlines. From what I’ve seen, you can’t do much to impress them in anything other than the interview, and it’s not a big deal anyway, they are looking for ambition usually. If you can get trial flights in the aircraft you would start your training in, that stands out i think. If you can work at an airfield a week or show your love for Aviation at a young age, anything you can put on your interview and CV really. To get in a flight school they usually only look at your GCSEs and use a skills checks to narrow the competition.

    Tolles Video, hab diese AC Cam gefeiert. Eine Frage aber, jemals welcher Job, man muss doch da auch früher da sein und hat Anfahrt und Abfahrt? 😅 das ist ja jetzt Standard würde ich sagen. Und der Punkt, dass Geld eine mögliche Karriere zerstören kann, sehe ich auch, allerdings gibt es ja auch die Luftwaffe zum Beispiel.

      The pfd being blurred is likely complet policy. Contains plenty of sensitive information.

    hello , just wanted to ask a few questions . why do you blurr out the displays ? and when you fly to another country and stay there a few days , do you pay for food , taxi and everything ? and if your company has different types of aircraft , for exemple 737 and A320 . do you choose wich one you do your type rating or do they assign you to one . thank you .

    Becoming an airline Pilot nowadays is no longer the glamourous job of which so many in the past were dreaming of, that time is long gone. If you want to pursue and most importantly enjoy every minute of your career as a pilot, stay away from any big airline companies. If you're lucky enough you can end up working for private jet owners, either fly them or ferry their jets ;-)
