Pardon me for coming in again (this'll be the last time) but one keeps coming across new information. There is a detailed description of this film "Love in Syncopation" at a site called "Celluloid Improvisations/Jazz on Film" compiled by jazz archivist Mark Cantor - and also lots of information about the Henri Woode orchestra. Also, that is indeed actress Ruby Dee on the right at 2:08, alongside June Eckstine, a singer who was the wife of bandleader/singer Billy Eckstine. At a site called "Tokin Women," there is more information & photos of June Eckstine.
Thanks- Never saw this before. Thanks for the research According to Wikipedia: "The film featured Henri Woode and his band as well as Ruby Dee.[1] Leonard Anderson directed and William D. Alexander produced. The film features dance and musical performances including by the Congaroos."

Wonderful music & fantastic dancing. Always interesting to see gorgeous women of the 1940's, as at 2:08. Perhaps one of these gals is Ruby Dee?
Correction: looking again at the two women at 2:08. I'm pretty sure that is indeed actress Ruby Dee on the right.
Fantastic.
