Watched this like 5 or 7 times now. And I’ll keep coming back. Cause watching people have the time of their life doing something they love is better than any marvel movie
Me too. I think this is my favorite youtube vid of all time. These guys are great. All the stuff you love about cars and none of what you don't love. I'm ear to ear everytime I watch this vid. It's so amazing the layer back, drama free, zen like car scene experience.
He could give us a practical view of the market from his end! We see the Aussie end from our guys, and wherever your home country is, but we’re here for the JDM nuggets, so it’d be cool to have that perspective..
I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when i was 12 years old (19 now) I am currently in the hospital having surgery and I have to say; thank you MCM for keeping me entertained with such lovely shows and movies. I have been a fan for a long time and will be for a lot longer time!
The cinematography, the soundtrack, the editing. Holy shit. There's more character and more love packed into any given slice of this film than there is in any theatrical release out there.
the thing i love about these guys is that you can watch their first video and their current video and not notice any change. I honestly didn't realize I was watching a 6 year old video the other day haha
Mighty Car Mods is perhaps one of the greatest channels on youtube. Last night I watched Chasing Midnight and I was absolutely "floored" (see what I did there?). I just watched this film (Kei To The City) and my goodness am I blown away. It's not just that these guys are fun, funny, informative and clever but also because they have a knack for conveying the emotion of the lifestyle while doing so with much precision and professional prowess but also keeping it light. Perfection in execution is how I would describe this video as well as many of their other ones. This is something I just do not see with the motorcycle community. I am a motorcycle guy but first and foremost, I was a car guy and this channel has been a big part of my falling in love with cars all over again. Yesterday I adjusted the coilovers on my EP3 for the very first time all the while listening to a Moog playlist via youtube. Smashing, I say. When I finished watching these two films, I was left feeling VERY happy and I admit, with a little bit of tears. Tears of joy. Tears of sheer emotional bliss. I wish I could hang out with these guys! Thank you MCM for brightening up my day like a mofo.
I couldn't agree with you more, I love these guys like brothers, and I love cars so watching these guys can brighten up any day and I just love watching their vids. I hope and strive for the day I get to meet them in person. It almost brings a tear of joy after watching this vid alone. ☺️😌😙
Comeback years later to see this is emotional. This was such a beautiful journey. I remember waiting for this episodes to drop. I appreciated Moog really trying to understand western interpretation of JDM from Japanese who just do it to enjoy the car rather than to fit in. I can honestly say I have watched every episode even the short videos that randomly posted on RUclips. I found the channel in 2010. It was a tough time in my life. I was a single dad in a rocky relationship and suffering from depression. Watch you guys laugh and smile so much made me feel like in someway I could come for the ride. You guys were and are unapologetically yourself. Honestly you guys made “TRD Lazer” … if that’s no classic then what is? Moog I always loved your mixes and Renee’s voice is magical. I miss the MCM days of “Jack up your car” and “Can this fit on my Honda”. PS I shared “Electric Space Wizard” with so many of my friends years ago. You guys have no idea how good this stuff make us feel and how important it has been. Thanks Marty and Moog.
All those Skylines and 240sx... This is like JDM heaven at 88´s. I promised myself, one day I´m gonna move over to Japan, just for the car awesomeness that is there.
I love how some people can have more fun with their $300 beater than another can have with a $400,000 Ferrari and make real memories. This is what it's all about. Fuck the haters, just get in there and have a go. It is easy to be obsessed about the machinery but don't forget, drifting is a human sport, human passion, don't make fun of someone because they aren't complying with how it "should" be done, give a cheer and support anyone who's enthusiastic.
man i love how the micky mouse exhaust guy couldn't stop laughing every time he was on camera this is one of the most fun good feeling films i've ever watched
+трололо жирнота Wow. I apologise. I guess when your ENTIRE life has been simple and crap.... even the music around you starts to sound that way too. Bummer. Good luck to you buddy.
NoOneImportant556 Okay okay, I see it now. But my reasoning is sound, the American car culture in my personal experience, has been very unwilling to embrace or even tolerate unorthodox ideas. I believe a car should be a medium for expression, and that everyone should use this medium as they please. :)
Cars don't care what kind of person you are. They don't care for the job you have, the color of your skin. They don't judge you for your past and don't make assumptions of your future nor will they decide to leave your life one day. Cars give you what they were born to do. Freedom. To give freedom to those who grip the steering wheel. Freedom to those who don't find peace anywhere else. Cars are an escape but only to those who understand what their car is telling them.
I love the endings to your films. The way you show all the people that helped you along the way, and the friends you made. It really does go to show that even though people don't have the same views, or tastes as you, and you're surrounded by different cultures, you all share the same passion. This film goes right up there with Turbos and Temples. Great work.
I love films and documentaries like this. It captures just what the car scene is all about in Japan. None of the bullshit and hate, just enjoying and having fun with everybody else.
This film has set the benchmark for all car movies of it's type. Fantastic footage backed by an even more brilliant sound track. Even if you are not particularly into these cars you can't help but be moved and taken in by the mood of this film. Well done fella's, This sets a new scale for all features of it's type.
couldn't agree anymore :) i bought the sound track and DVD :) they use the music to show there point of both beauty and power as they show the cars at the same times
Couldn't agree more. How anyone could give this a thumbs down is completely beyond me. Shot better than most stuff on TV, genuine enthusiasm and fun the whole way along, interesting to watch, awesome original soundtrack. Thank-you Mighty Car Mods!
James Taylor There are always the jealous types that want to be smart arses. They don't have the talent or creativity so want to make themselves feel better by denying that other do. This is a champion effort that the guys should be proud of forever. I certainly would be. Wether they better it or not in the future, this is still a stand alone piece of brilliance and I think a landmark in films of it's kind.
Damn, Marty & Moog I sure hope you guys look back at this video one day as older folks and can be proud of the work you did. Heck, I'm proud to just watch the videos you make and I know there's so much more to this whole lifestyle that we will never even see. Inspiring work, thank you both :)
at first I tought this is going to be some serious drift documentary movie but after watched it, this is just something else.. don't know how to describe, it's just awesome! I almost cried at the end of this movie :') aaaaa... it's just perfect
Epic isn't the word, this is phenomenal - the effort, attention to detail and pure quality of this is through the roof, by far the best channel on RUclips.
Does anybody else come back to old videos of MCM often and just sit back and enjoy. These guys are amazing and will always deliver. Love you guys..... Its Marty Car Moogs for me :D.
As an American who enjoys the US car scene, I REALLY enjoy watching your videos to see insight throughout the world's car scenes. It is fantastic to see that you guys can travel through the world, stricken by language barriers, and STILL come together for the love of vehicles. It seriously makes me smile to see the love of cars bringing people together!
New viewer from Canada and RUclipsr as well love your work guys and honestly can't wait to waste some time on these videos :) keep up the great work.. Keep on sliding!
Lesson learned. JDM is about doing what you like and not what you're told, or expected to. It's about expressing your own style and not following trends.
Can't believe this is a 7+ year old film. you guys were way ahead of time. I love the part where you guys discuss and appreciate the light hearted modifying culture that Japan has v/s "serious" stuff that we make it in other parts of the world. It should always be that way- "it my car" :)
+GeoBaz yeah me too. its a really great film. better than some that have a lot of budget and are in cinemas. i wish this wouldve been in cinemas or at least on tv
The Universal Modified Car Ethos: "Although I may not agree with your mod, I wil fight to the end that you have the right to create your perfect car" That is the spirit and beauty of customizing cars. Do what you enjoy and be proud!
This drifting film taught me something that I never really knew. The whole time I was thinking what other people though about a car, but that's not what it really is. It's what you want and what you make of it. Thank you MCM and lovely Japan.
This is probably my 5th time watching this, I’m 22 now soon to be 23, and these guys have shaped me into who I am today Having owned a bunch of my dream cars multiple r32 sedan skyline multiple r34’s (non Gtr) I had a FD3s rx7, 2 evo’s and 2 jzx100’s as well as 5 mk3 supras crazy how I looked up to what they did and here I am following in their foot steps
Nate Higgers how does the US have anything to do with the cultural wars that have been ragging for hundreds of years prior to the existence of the USA?
I'm not into car's and have no idea what these guys where talking about half the time, but that was a great story to watch. You can see the passion, the joy, the excitement on everyone's face for doing what they love! Fantastic! Now maybe i will go and see how I can make my car represent me in my own way. Keep it up guys!
The ending made me cry. Not because it was sad, but because it was beautiful to see people who share one interest, the love of cars, bonding. I wish the rest of the world could learn from this, not only in the car world, but in general. I own a 1.4 civic, it may not be the fastest, and people may say they have a better car, but I sit in it everyday, I smile when I drive it and I'm happy I got a car. It's a passion some people don't understand, but MCM does, as do their fans. Thank you Moog & Marty.. Thank you.
Me and a mate drove the ancestor of that little turbo 4x4 8600 miles from London to Mongolia! The Perodua Nippa; we called it the Tot. She did us proud!
Comments on videos from 6 1/2 years ago probably don't get seen much but I bought my own '93 Cuore two months ago, a European export model with the 850cc carbed engine and I love it to bits already and I love this feature film and the whole build series, it shows that every car can be mad no matter how nuggety it is 👌
Don't know if all the feels was completely necessary, but damn, it made the film! Think I'll be watching this one back more than once. Anyone else feeling the need to go to Japan...?
That was a really awesome production.. From start to finish I got glued to my mobile's screen watching it! A gigantic congratulations to you and all the participants!
COMING BACK HERE ALWAYS FEELS GOOD...Its never ceases to amaze me how well you guys capture these exquisite and historic moments in automotive journalism, no other has ever come closer to representing the shear spirit of the "carguy"
I'm from the Uk and it's the same here but in Japan they treat the car scene as family! U.K. And USA just try and hurt people's feelings! Not nice! If your a real car guy you respect everyone's cars no matter how bad or good the car is
+Firecat I'm pretty sure I'll fall into that category after I buy and customize my 350z but fuck'em they don't appreciate beauty and power in a different style they aren't real car people.
I'd judge somebody on their immature nests and lack of basic knowledge rather than hating on their probably cool car. Although I do not have neons or chromosome on my car
+Firecat imo, this is not ricing as everything is functional. ricing is putting a rear wing on a civic or putting a fart cannon on your car thinking it will go faster. visually most people will probably call it ricing but i would more likely go for this JDM style rather than a 4k paint job...
+Pro Tune Race Club I think that ricing would be doing mods like this and expecting the car to be faster, and bragging about it, but what these guys do..... it's almost art, and they do it because it's funny! I think ricing has more to do with the driver than the car itself
That was one of the most brilliant pieces of car footage I have seen in years. Makes me want to book a flight right now to go to Japan. Thanks for everything guys and I hope your hard work goes a long way towards the success you want to achieve. The video really did make me tear up towards the end. Big ups from Canada !!
Japan is so awesome! Everybody seems so laid back, just trying to live their lives and have fun. That's how it's supposed to be! Making friends would be so easy in Japan, I love it. Have to visit one day for sure..
old comment but you're seeing literally a specific community of japan which is also just a sub community. You can't judge and entire country based off one sub scene
I wonder why this community is so advanced and yest so chill at the same time? That's right, no western religion! Everywhere with western religious practices is full of hate and ignorance, I think Japan looks great!
Modern Western culture lacks any religious practice what so ever, unless you're talking about immigrant religion. I'd say it was more because of the fact that Japan hasn't been raped by destructive immigration policies, so their communities are not divided like mine is in the UK.
funny thing is these people are considered bad people over there. its seen by their western/hiphop clothing style. most japanese are cool with foreighners being different and they accepot them easily, but when japanese people dress differently they get spewed out and labeled as bad real quick. its also probably one of the reasons the scene is all about doing what you want and dont care what others think as much, not as stuck up as car scenes elsewhere around the world and this probably creates a greater bond and chill vibe overall.
Well worth the wait guys. Incredible film and looks like you had an experience of a lifetime. I'm looking forward to the new season and will always be a MCM fan for life! MAAAAADD
My dad is not interested in cars, even though if I forced him, he's not interested but I told myself I want my dreams to come true! I will make it come true!
"I know that we have come so far" in the end credits song. You guys have come so far, and it's great to see what you have achieved over the 5 seasons of Mighty Car Mods. You are always entertaining and the production really is superb. I'm sure this season is going to be the best yet, and I can't wait to see what you both can come up with! Happy Season 6 everybody!
+Alberto Figueroa They are "worthless" to japanese, because the annual inspection and licensing becomes more and more expensive per year, until the point is reached when it's just cheaper to buy a brand new car. The japanese do it to stabilize their economy and it's exactly what's missing in Germany. In Germany about 65 % of the people drive used cars that are older than 10 years and brand new cars, even models like the Volkswagen Golf 7 without any features cost more than most people can afford. (When the Golf 7 came out, it cost 18,999 €, that would take me 4 years of saving money to afford it) That's why I proudly drive my modified Mitsubishi Galant EA0 (American Galant G8) from 1997.
+Metatr0n You clearly haven't been to the U.S. where the majority of cars are old and rusty and they don't even have a TÜV inspection. Are you seriously suggesting we should force the people to pay more for inspections every year?! WTF?!
kraenk12 I hope that I understood your question right. I'm assuming that the sentence "Are you seriously suggesting we should force the people to pay more for inspections every year?" is meant for Germany, correct? If so then I can tell you, no that was not what I was saying but, yes it WOULD be the best solution to increase the economy BUT I very well know that it wouldn't work in Germany. It's working in Japan because 1. brand-new cars are cheaper than in Germany, so many people can afford it, if not then the majority is atleast able to buy cars that were used 1 year as leasing-cars. 2. Japanese people earn more through regular jobs, thus the wealth-standards are higher than in Germany. I guess those are the two main points why it wouldn't work in Germany.
+Alberto Figueroa I was thinking the same. I seen SEVERAL Corolla Levins at the 88's shop just sitting in the weeds, Skylines parked and left to rot, just awesome cars we cannot even get a hold of and no wonder they will be worth more money one day, there'll be none left! Gah I want to go to Japan now on one of these sabbaticals
Watched this like 5 or 7 times now. And I’ll keep coming back. Cause watching people have the time of their life doing something they love is better than any marvel movie
400% agreed with you!
Same lol I'm on at least 5 times watched now
better add another one after the most recent episode.... think they are finally going to bring it back.

I remember watching this when it dropped back in 2014. It has aged like a fine wine. Still an epic story worthy of rewatching again and again. 😎
Mr Sato should be a regular guest on the show. He's awesome!
He is. Mr.Sato has been with these guys even before the S15 videos. Great dude.
He could give us a practical view of the market from his end! We see the Aussie end from our guys, and wherever your home country is, but we’re here for the JDM nuggets, so it’d be cool to have that perspective..
Watched the whole thing. What a masterpiece!
TOM CAT YOU LEGEND! :D
Haha ikr
Omg, Yeah Tomcat :D
Tom can you do something about those 300 people who disliked it, For a fellow youtuber

MCM makes some of the most beautiful documentaries.

You're not alone man. That has been my childhood dream, to travel to Japan and experience incredible Japanese culture I've always been so fond of.
I'm a car guy and Anime nerd so i'd love it! yet i'm a brony and there's like no other bronies over there :(
maxandsyd14 How old are you?
LickMyGiblets 13... This day in age is the worst time to be 13...
maxandsyd14 Well by the time you're old enough to drive you probably wont be a brony anymore.

I think weve all forgotten to thank MOOG for the soundtrack you guys ......
Thanks MOOG. Without it, This wouldnt have been as good as it is !

+David Rice too bad the music is so simple, and the vocals/lyrics are just pure crap :((
+трололо жирнота Wow. I apologise. I guess when your ENTIRE life has been simple and crap.... even the music around you starts to sound that way too. Bummer. Good luck to you buddy.
трололо жирнота yeah but some people like it, and Moog makes it, so I'm sure he likes that kind of music.
Wow, Japanese car culture is so laid back and accepting. America, please take note of this.
+Brad Zamora with your passive judgement of America, you just fit your own negative standard lol
NoOneImportant556 Are you saying that by my opinion, I'm being the unaccepting one? I'm confused. lol
Brad Zamora You are criticizing people that criticize on criticizing lol

Everyone is talking about Star Wars and I'm sitting here watching Kei To The City for the 5th time.. #notevenmad
+GeoBaz HEEEYYYY from CT :)
+GeoBaz MAAAAD
+GeoBaz yeah me too. its a really great film. better than some that have a lot of budget and are in cinemas. i wish this wouldve been in cinemas or at least on tv
+GeoBaz Kei To the City > everything else!
hahahahahahahah :)
I am absolutely obsessed with Marty Car Moogs. This is the 8th time I'm watching this.
Minitstop!
Spotted in the wild! lol.
Lol, you picked a good video to be spotted on, I've been binge-watching a bunch of their stuff.
This and Chasing Midnight are my favorites but I also love all the build series, stuff! Enjoy!
minitstop Chasing Midnight was great!
Absolutely awesome, that was worthy of being on TV.
This film I have already seen three times. Seriously, I need to watch it again and again ... It is truly a piece of art. Thanks for sharing it.

The Universal Modified Car Ethos:
"Although I may not agree with your mod, I wil fight to the end that you have the right to create your perfect car"
That is the spirit and beauty of customizing cars. Do what you enjoy and be proud!
This drifting film taught me something that I never really knew. The whole time I was thinking what other people though about a car, but that's not what it really is. It's what you want and what you make of it. Thank you MCM and lovely Japan.
This is probably my 5th time watching this, I’m 22 now soon to be 23, and these guys have shaped me into who I am today
Having owned a bunch of my dream cars multiple r32 sedan skyline multiple r34’s (non Gtr) I had a FD3s rx7, 2 evo’s and 2 jzx100’s as well as 5 mk3 supras crazy how I looked up to what they did and here I am following in their foot steps
What a great way to kick off Season 6. That introduction and end was absolutely beautiful and so well done. Great episode! I loved this a lot.
No restrictions on cars = world peace
Cars bring happiness
imagine all the people living life in peace
YOO HOO HOOOOO
No restrictions on cars-catastrophic death toll on uk b roads
Nate Higgers how does the US have anything to do with the cultural wars that have been ragging for hundreds of years prior to the existence of the USA?
I'm not into car's and have no idea what these guys where talking about half the time, but that was a great story to watch. You can see the passion, the joy, the excitement on everyone's face for doing what they love! Fantastic! Now maybe i will go and see how I can make my car represent me in my own way.
Keep it up guys!
do it
Even after 7 years im still watching this!!! These guys are the reason i started working on cars
Thank you.
This was the best car documentary I've ever seen and by far the most fun one as well. Thank you so much for making this for us to watch.
This was the best drift film i have ever seen. It will remain in history. EPIC!!!!
Me and a mate drove the ancestor of that little turbo 4x4 8600 miles from London to Mongolia! The Perodua Nippa; we called it the Tot. She did us proud!
Still one of the best things to happen to RUclips
This is better than most movies!
Constant smile throughout this entire video, loved it! So happy you're back. Cars are bloody awesome
Comments on videos from 6 1/2 years ago probably don't get seen much but I bought my own '93 Cuore two months ago, a European export model with the 850cc carbed engine and I love it to bits already and I love this feature film and the whole build series, it shows that every car can be mad no matter how nuggety it is 👌
your cinema photography is to an expert level this is top gear standards
While it's very good at an amateur level, it's not Top Gear good.. Keep it real now! :)
***** ujelly?
The wait was worth it. I am in shock
Very nice. The smiling people at the end was my favorite part and shot really well.
Don't know if all the feels was completely necessary, but damn, it made the film! Think I'll be watching this one back more than once.
Anyone else feeling the need to go to Japan...?
Yep, 10 years later and it's still so emotional for me to watch this. I love you guys. This is magic. It's life.
this is exactly what i needed!! its been a rough couple of weeks lately thanks Marty and Moog for putting a smile on my face!
0:59 As a cinematographer this is one of the hardest shot to pull off , Marty and Moog put so much effort into it damn
Awesome!!!! I loved every moment of this. Thank you so much for putting this out. You guys rock!
41:26 tugs at my heart strings for 4 minutes. Beautiful beautiful cinematography.
Who would dislike this, I mean seriously? What could a person possibly find wrong with this?
Brilliant movie, this is what makes MCM legendary!
might be the hybrid diss? The new mclaren tecnically speaking IS a hybrid... nothing wrong with that huh?!
Or just someone on a really bad off day ;)
Great stuff lads, really well produced as always.
That was a really awesome production.. From start to finish I got glued to my mobile's screen watching it! A gigantic congratulations to you and all the participants!
Another awsome video from MCM... Cant wait for the next one...
COMING BACK HERE ALWAYS FEELS GOOD...Its never ceases to amaze me how well you guys capture these exquisite and historic moments in automotive journalism, no other has ever come closer to representing the shear spirit of the "carguy"
An hour well spent! Great movie guys!
Awesome video, the long wait was totally worth it.
If you do these mods in Japan no one cares
If you do these mods in america people call you ricer.
That is why Japanese car culture is the best
Back when this Video was release. This Vid is Legendary i still watch it.
June 2023.
Awesome video guys!!!! you guys are the best. This video shows us no matter where you're from we can all come together to enjoy something we love.
He's right though
The soundtrack is AMAZING!!!!!!!
Well worth the wait guys. Incredible film and looks like you had an experience of a lifetime. I'm looking forward to the new season and will always be a MCM fan for life! MAAAAADD
A THANK GOD! A VIDEO! season six is going to be the best yet!
Really nice video makes me remember what owning a car is really all about.
I could not agree more
PLEASE TAKE ME BACK TO THIS YEAR, I can say that my life is so well at this time.
Holy smokes an hour?! Time to grab some popcorn and settle in for some MCM goodness.

dont ever give up on your dreams
My dad is not interested in cars, even though if I forced him, he's not interested but I told myself I want my dreams to come true! I will make it come true!
his still evokes emotion even 6 years later.
Beautiful work you guys, thank you so much for what you are doing and please dont stop any time soon
One of the best videos I have ever seen. It was really amazing, well done !
Watched it more than 20 times, still gives me goosebumps. MCM for life
It's crazy how all those "junk" cars are worthless to people in Japan, yet so sought after by all of us
+Alberto Figueroa They are "worthless" to japanese, because the annual inspection and licensing becomes more and more expensive per year, until the point is reached when it's just cheaper to buy a brand new car. The japanese do it to stabilize their economy and it's exactly what's missing in Germany.
In Germany about 65 % of the people drive used cars that are older than 10 years and brand new cars, even models like the Volkswagen Golf 7 without any features cost more than most people can afford. (When the Golf 7 came out, it cost 18,999 €, that would take me 4 years of saving money to afford it)
That's why I proudly drive my modified Mitsubishi Galant EA0 (American Galant G8) from 1997.
one man's garbage is another man's treasure
+Metatr0n You clearly haven't been to the U.S. where the majority of cars are old and rusty and they don't even have a TÜV inspection. Are you seriously suggesting we should force the people to pay more for inspections every year?! WTF?!
kraenk12
I hope that I understood your question right.
Best 1 hour and 2 minutes of my youtube life.
This is my third time watching it and i'm still not over it!!! GOOD JOB
How is this such a beautiful video even after more than 6 years? Great community!
