Extremely fortunate to live in the time of Hans Zimmer.
I wouldn't mind living a few years later from now - his music will live on :)
Beethoven has left the chat.
👋👋
Hans Zimmer is a Beethoven in his own right. If they both lived at the same time, they'd dine together.
Then I guess I'm luckier cause I live in times of both Hans Zimmer & James Horner
This song is going to be played at my wedding and funeral which ever comes first

I cannot believe Hans Zimmer did not win an Oscar for Interstellar. Brilliantly played. Goosebumps....
That's the corrupt Oscars for you
One of the many times where Oscars is a joke. George lucas not getting best director for starwars. Jake Gyllenhaal not winning an award for nightcrawler. Oscar's doing nothing during will smith bullshit. Any wong kar wai film not winning an Oscar. The list goes on.
The only time they got something right was giving brendan fraser and ke huy quan an Oscar. Probably to make up for will smith
@@anthonyt219 agreed. It's backdoor shaking hands funny business going on. The Oscars and music awards are not what they once were. It takes the prestige away when there are back door agreements on who gets them or not.... I feel for the actors. Hollywood is sold out to some nasty business they would rather we don't notice.
Well, them 'elite' Hollywood stuffed shirts live in their own weird artificial universe and wouldn't have the finesse to ascend to these ethereally beautiful sounds anyways.
Shawshank Redemption in 1994. Not a single Oscar.
No matter how many times you listen to it. It never ceases to give you goosebumps.

Amazing Hanz
Check out Steve Reich
This song was described by Christopher Nolan as alive. The organ needs air, needs to breath and exhale as we do. When you listen to those deep notes, you can almost feel yourself breathing with it.
I’ve never heard a song that can elicit so many emotions at one time. It’s a song I would imagine would be paired with your life flashing before your eyes. Stunningly beautiful
I just watched an interview where Hans Zimmer said the exact same thing.
I agree :)
That's not surprising ...
When you play a church organ, you're not just playing the organ itself, but the entire building, as each organ/church has it's own resonance, especially depending on how old the organ is relative to the church ... the older the organ, the long it has had time to 'settle in', the richer, and deeper the sounds that seem to come out of the very building itself ...
This is a comment that I could give an award to. Excellent comment, top tier.
try left overs main theme music too.. its reall good
This song is so powerful that you can’t help but look to the stars… and wonder what lies beyond…
Great analogy. The song inspires wonder as do the stars.
Or what is right in Front of You! Which the film and song do perfectly
The one who made them!
Taxes, thats what lay beyond the stars and time and space. Lots of taxes
More stars
I like to think that even in several hundred years, Zimmer will be included in lists of great and well known classical composers along side the Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Bach, etc.
Along side with John Williams, the two modern day musical geniuses
Nissan370Z why?
He would deserve it. He is a mastermind and gives music and films a soul with his work.
Clint Mansell in there somewhere
He will be remembered long after the films have been forgotten.
This makes you feel homesick for a place that doesn’t exist. Awesome!

Hans Zimmer said he chose the organ because the air makes it sound like a human voice, and I can’t stop hearing the voice of a little girl on those high notes, saying “daddy” as if little Murphy is calling her father through her whole life.

2:50 ❤. I discovered this video about two months ago. My dog wasn’t doing very good and it was only a couple days later he passed. I raised him from a couple weeks old to the age of 16. He was my best friend from the day he was born. For 16 years we never spent 24 hours apart. He was my absolute best friend. Every time I hear this playing it takes me back to that day with him. I miss him so much it hurts.
@jakehobbs I’m so so sorry for your loss. It’s so hard to lose a person, and a dog person is one of the best friends. A true companion. I am with you in spirit and hope your loss aches less each day - although you’ll never forget your best friend .

How does one compose something so magnificent and beautiful like this. It's unreal. Hans Zimmer is truly a master
The organ sound match so *perfectly* with the space theme. It almost feels like an intended version.
erick hidayat They did record it in Temple Church in London originally. So it is indeed intended.
Very much intended, and they wanted not just any organ but a massive pipe organ. Zimmer liked the "breathy' sounds of the pipes which gave an indication of humanity within outer space.
@@nuancolar7304 "which gave an indication of humanity within outer space"
It's strange that would be the reason since he literally didn't even know what movie he was making the music for... So that's definitely not the reason.
@@M4XC4V413R4You are talking about the early piece of music developed by Hans Zimmer that became the basis for the score. I’m talking about the decision to bring the church pipe organ into the music, which was done after Zimmer knew more about the film. ruclips.net/video/L_8t2VlwK4w/видео.html
I saw in a behind the scenes video about Hans Zimmer composing for the movie, he was only told about it being a story about a relationship between a father and daughter and they omitted the space/sci-fi aspect of it. Turned out really well and it fit so perfectly.

Johann Sebastian Bach has joined the chat.
Stunning music. This movie broke my heart, this soundtrack then came by to comfort me, only to break my heart again.
This both seems to encompass human suffering, as well as justify it, quite the enigma. Which is basically who we are. We feel it, but cannot explain it. This is what makes life so incredible, yet so tragic.
beautifully said.
@@MOBLiiFE Agree, beautifully said
This track... this track man. When I hear this, I dream of that something more. I look up into the sky like a stupid kid and think “this isn’t all... there’s something more out there. Something greater.” I think of the infinite possibilities of what lies above our planet, and what lies within me. This track rocks me to my very core, and as we close out this year, as nuts as it’s been. I can always look inward and remind myself that there is more. There always will be, we just have to be willing to reach out and find it.

How the fuck didn't Hans Zimmer get an Oscar award for this !!!!
+Ano Niem True
As you can see in recent events, they even said they weren't joking
Delta Riotlion g
Delta Riotlion no, for the Oscars, Zimmer was beaten by Alexandre Desplat for his score work on The Grand Budapest Hotel. I very much wanted Hanz to win for Interstellar, but because of bias, they may have given it to Desplat because he hadn't won one before that and Zimmer has already won one before (for his score for the lion king). Frozen wasn't even nominated for best original score and it was in the Oscars the year before, not the same year as Interstellar
I liked Alexandre Desplat's score for GBH very much and I'm glad he won. Zimmer's score for Interstellar is also genius though and I'd also be happy if he had won. I'm just sad that the Academy gets so much hate because they decided against Zimmer, it's not like they gave the award to a massively inferior composer. Desplat is really good!
For some reason, when I hear this melody on the organ in a church (as it was intended to be played), I feel like I'm hearing God... thank you Hans...
If I close my eyes I can just imagine time moving faster and faster with everything in the background out of focus. However the ONLY thing in focus is this talented musician playing this amazing arrangement.
Every once in a while I find myself watching covers of the Interstellar theme and envious of those that are able to witness the moment and upset at those who chose to ignore it. Those that stick around to witness and listen to a once-in-a-lifetime performance are given a gift, a gift that only lasts a few minutes. That gift, is time slowing down for them where they find themselves still, full of empathy and wonder. Most important of all, free of worry. That is the gift this performance brings to us.
If you listen to this with your eyes closed, its like suddenly your life is so much bigger than you thought it was. The universe opens up to you, reminds you of how vast it is, of all the things it holds, all its secrets. You feel like you are looking into the soul of what it means to exist, to be. And then the song is over and you're back in real life, back sprawled on a couch, standing at a bus stop, lying in bed, and its like it never happened, like the magic you sensed had just been stripped away from you.
I come to yearn for that feeling of magic again, I become addicted to it. I don't want it to end. But then it does, and I'm left feeling a little emptier than the moment before. Music is a very powerful thing, I don't think enough people understand or appreciate that. I hope someone reads this comment someday and understands, appreciates, for a moment the magic and power music holds.
Edit: I've read all of your comments, and I'm really happy this comment I wrote on a whim thinking no one would read connected with any of you at all. IDK if you've seen the short "making of" the Interstellar soundtrack. It's incredibly emotional, how Hans wrote the theme about his son, and what it feels like to be a father. I lost my father young, and learned to repress the pain of that loss so I could function. But when I watch that video, there's no way to repress feelings I have about my dad (who was wonderful) and to acknowledge that I miss him still, which is actually such a catharsis. He absolutely loved music, and so I watch the video every month or two so I can remember to feel. I meditate on who I am, and honor that part of my father that lives on through me. ruclips.net/video/LOQYZFOqkt8/видео.html
@@baTonkaTruck Thank you for that link! There is something special about this music, totally from the heart. It was great to see how they brought it to life. And the organist was amazing.
My heart...
I don't know. I'll let you know when it stops making me pour tears.
"It's not possible."
"No, but it's necessary."
@Violet Absolutely, This song is a modern classic, a true masterpiece.
God that line is so fucking cool.
@Violet .....Maybe more.....😘😍
@Violet ITS NOT A SONG
@@mcjacobin5548 ITS NOT A SONG
There are musical pieces and performances like this one that possess a cathartic and humbling effect... Recently I have come to realise that music is actually the greatest achievement of mankind. If is not just a form of art... It is a quintessential component of life. Music of all sorts has helped me get through adversities time and time again.
This song has both that feeling of hopelessness to it, like the Blight has doomed us but then it starts to pick up giving that feeling of hope and that there is always a solution to a problem somewhere.
This song just mixes all of my emotions, Happy , sad, lost, depressed, inspiring and many more.
funny thing-- I didn't hear anyone singing, so it must be a "piece" rather than a "song". If you care about language , you'll get the point.
@@ellensouthard1782 you think you are smart because you corrected someone who probably is not a native English speaker. I wonder how many mistakes you would make trying to speak his or her language. You'd better stand corrected.
@@kuros28 Thank you for your criticism. I certainly had no intention of insulting a non-native speaker, so I apologize. That said, I very likely slipped into my ESL instructor mode. I hope the person can go beyond. sincerely
@@ellensouthard1782 i do appreciate your reply...
No feeling of happiness in this song. It is a beautiful song, but nostalgic, sad. It make me think of hardness of life.
I don't know what it is about this movie's soundtrack, but it makes me so emotional, to the point of tears. It makes me feel like I'm alone and it's terrifying, but it also has a comforting undertone. I don't know, but I love it!
Exactly !
Melissa Orosco did you watch the movie ?
i know exactly what you mean!
Basically that movie in a nutshell.
Dude, me too! It's so powerful. It makes you feel insignificant at first but then it makes you feel powerful, like you can conquer anything.
This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard in my life ❤
Just To be there and be present in the moment and hear this with the acoustics of this amazing building. To me , that's heaven
The first time I heard this piece in the movie I was in immediate awe. Even if you don't have the context of what this piece is from, you can feel how it brings up a feeling of infinite, remote isolation.
I totally agree with you man . Everytime I hear this piece , it makes me feel like I'm floating away from something I hold very close to my heart . This moved me in many different levels.
I think the point of the song was not to tie it into the Movie.

Hans Zimmer is a musical genius, this song was about how it feels like to be a father. but the song caught the emotion.
Christopher Nolan, Hanz Zimmer and Roger Sayer are just amazing and captured this perfectly and the use of the Organ added an extra feeling to the sound.
“By the light of our new sun...”
Couldn’t have said it any better
I have never left a RUclips comment, but this moved me to tears. Absolutely beautiful.
Joanna Smith me too, this is awesome and i wish i could play as beautiful as this some day
Max De Santa I doubt that you doubted him.

Do not go gentle into that good night
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words have forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night
😭
m sanders Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
getting this tattoed on my body!
Was that used in the movie?
To this day, that church is still in fear from the epic sounds that reverberated around it. Zimmer is the Beethoven of our time, no question.
Michael absolutely. I’ve had that same thought. He’s got an incredible gift for masterpieces.
Ramin Djwadi would like to know your location
Zimmer is good but never a Beethoven ..
@Nightfury Matthew eeh what? That's what he's saying.
@@rolandh4947 he's better
I wish RUclips ads would realize this is the music I like and stop banging dubstep rap in my ears.
I cant listen this without crying
