I definitely appreciate the nod at mental health because I believe my planner has done WONDERS for me, if only to give me something to look forward to and be passionate about
I like planning for the control it gives me. I deal with MH and chronic illness on a daily basis. My planner has helped me keep a balance between not letting these parts of me take over, and listening to what my body and mind need. I can lay down what needs to get done and then add some things in to keep calm while getting them done. I’ve learned to accept making myself a priority and moving something to the next day as a form of self care. I can say no to things. I can in general look back at what has happened and give myself some credit. Because for me it’s very easy to focus on what I didn’t do then what I did. Planning also keeps my ptsd focused on the present. After a flashback I can look at my planner and just verbally saying what the present day was like helps. Good or not at least it’s not that other time.
Yes! I definitely understand what you mean. I struggle with making myself a priority but setting aside that time for myself and my planner definitely helps me learn that I just need time to myself sometimes. I wish I could make it more of a daily habit. I definitely understand what you mean about focusing on the present. I look around a lot and have to remind myself that THIS is my life and THAT is not anymore.
This actually gives me so much hope. As I've gone through getting a diagnosis with my stomach issues and realizing that this is likely something I will deal with for the rest of my life, I start to get really discouraged, thinking not only why do I creative plan, but why do I even make plans in general if I'm never going to have control over what my body does. But looking at it the way you do, I can see where this type of planning will actually be helpful.
I plan for therapy for my anxiety, ptsd and depression!! It is like my therapy to set down and decorate my week! It helps me feel like i have control over something!! I love filming my pwm's but sometimes I just want to do it with out filming them for my channel!! Thanks for your video...it is always nice to know you are not alone with these illnesses!! hugs, xoxo
You're welcome! I've had people ask me if it makes my anxiety worse by planning and I could see how that could happen but it definitely doesn't for me.
Paige Nicole me too! Someone at work told me, oh my that’s a lot! & they were like appalled at all my planner stickers. 😂 #1, I knew that’s when we wouldn’t be friends. Haha. But yes it melts my anxiety away when I’m zoning out & planning. Even if it wasn’t for actual plans, just the act of laying down a spread & getting to be creative is so therapeutic!
I have always had a planner. I find it easier to plan ahead, I swear if I didn't write nearly everything down I would forget. I also love the balance it gives me even when my plans fall apart.
Hey Paige! Where do you get your inserts for your B6? Also, love that you shared how this helps your anxiety. Right there with you! I have found it helps me take my focus off the overwhelm my anxiety creates as well as just using a different part of my brain (and letting the side i use all day @ work take a rest lol!). What started out as having something pretty to keep me organized has actually really helped calm me, especially on the tough days!
Hey Amy! Yes, it definitely helps with engaging a different part of your brain and I really need that at least once a week. I got pretty much all of my inserts from Sew Much Crafting but I do have the dot grid inserts from Foxy Fix--though SMC has them too.
I started planning because I'm a writer and I needed to keep myself on track. It's easy when you work from home and for yourself to let things slide. I didn't want that. So, I started with planner and pen, like most people in the planner community. Now, I plan on a TN (regular size) in a plan-as-I-go style. By the way, I'm totally stealing the term "Creative Planning"! Loved it!
It is definitely so easy to let things slide working from home! I really want to get in a better daily routine with my planner and spend some time in the morning going over my to do list and what not but I need to actually get on a sleeping routine first b/c I get so stressed out when I wake up late. #insomnialife lol. You can totally steal the term creative planning!

I'm 62 and I love playing with stickers. It keeps me focused but only if it's pretty. Been a planner all my life.
I turn 60 this year and you have me beat as the oldest planner girl out there!!!
Hey girl...late 40s here and LOVE planning with stickers! So glad I found creative planning!

Great video. I'm a nurse as well and planning has helped me with my anxiety recently.
yay! Fellow nurse! We definitely need some time to sit and take for ourselves with those crazy schedules!

I totally feel the same way about planning. It’s definitely therapy & my “me time”. Thanks for posting this!

Yes definitely! I can't remember a time in my life without a planner haha.

I have always worked with a calendar planner. I remember the first time I saw an ECLP. I thought I was going to faint....
haha I know! It was so pretty! It still is, but nothing compares to that first one haha
