After first seeing your videos, seven or eight years ago, I got my hands to the nearest broomhandle (in this country they're usually of solid, sturdy ash) that same day, started flourishing the thing, then came across some escrima videos (wmpyr &stuff) sawed the bromhandle into half. started practicing the Sinawali, stole a 6 foot oak handle from the shovel on a road construction site, used this as a bo staff, long story short, I never left home without a stick since then even once. I would never call myself a stickfighter but I practice some serious stickplaysometimes for hours each day and it made my life the exciting adventure it was always meant to be. I had a good reason for this because I lack the good loock and also the money to make pretty girls smile at me so I decided I'm gonna impress the most pretty one with skills, and well it worked, for quite a good time at least but the good thing about skills, compared to, let's say money is this, you don't loose any if she leaves, well you still do a bit of crying, but anyway... Besides it cured me from some serious back pain (the stickplay I mean) I slackened a bit as of lately but not enough to ever let the sticks leave my hands again! Ok. Now I go into my archive and take another look at your old stuff, God I liked those when you were practising in some basement or garage. PS I'm a Swiss a true Native, so to speak but I love the fact that i can claim a little bit of Irish in me from my Great Grand mother! You bet my Daddy told me of the potato famine before I could read or write! All my best wishes to you boys!
We have taken the last seven years to study longsword and the similarity between them and stick. WE have also developed gear that will see us trying to spar with full staff. Keep posted it means a lot to hear people are watching.
Good to see a Shillelagh stick fighting video from you, Mr. Sullivan. I saw the other HEMA you were teaching and was worried that you hung up your shillelagh fighting!

What are you using for sticks? There appears to be flex to help with safety. Definitely see some longsword guards appearing occasionally.
