  • Taking advantage of a sunny day in North Devon. That wind is still cold however! On our recent visits to the railway we did not have enough time to actually ride the train. Today as well as watching the train we do enjoy a return ride from Woody Bay Station to Killington Lane.

The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway has great steam operations even the replica of a steam locomotive that was built from my home country United States of America, which is Lynton & Barnstaple Railway No. 762 “Lyn”.

Those poor baby lambs! No shelter from those wintery winds!
I saw a walking video recently that showed a fairly new start up railway called The Lavender Line. Don’t think it goes far yet but like this line they need to get the land for it to expand! It’s in Sussex - lovely evocative name but it is actually the name of the family that owned the Coal yard where it’s based.

Bloody good vid as usual from this uploader. At 7.20 i note that “she who must be obeyed” beckons, & Mike responds, by obeying!👍 Such a lovely couple tbh. I hope they can manage to stay together for as long as it’s possible & continue their adventures.
Alas!, i lost my wife of 34 years to covid in january 22. Such tragic events can make you more understanding & appreciative of couples who are devoted to each other, just as we were. These vids are marvellous to watch.

Thank you William for your kind comments. Val and I are sorry to hear that you lost your wife to Covid just over two years ago, but we are sure you have many happy memories to cherish.

Thank you both. Yes, many, very happy memories. We used to travel around with our cameras & do much as you do.
By the way, we did visit most of the uk heritage railways. The wsr is the best we thought. You have such lovely scenery, seashore etc. wonderful!. It is quite like west wales where i live.
All the very best to you both.

I visited the day after this was taken. The weather was considerably worse. Grey skies, damp, tried to rain on and off and a freezing cold wind chilling everyone to the bone. It didn't seem to dampen people's spirits though with a large happy crowd of visitors.

Another nice video Mike and Val, also good to see the deer. Is there any news of their proposed extension yet?

    • @ADMIRALSCORNER
      @ADMIRALSCORNER  Месяц назад

No I'm afraid all the legal limitations do not show any possibility of an extension for quite some time.

I dont know, but the badge of the railway shows a deer so they have certainly been known about in the area for a long time.

Sweetie Scorner Doo, where are you?
You got some work to do now.
Sweetie Scorner Doo, where are you?
Val needs some help from you now.
Come on, Scorner Doo, Val sees you,
    Pretending you've got a sliver.
You're not fooling me because we can see,
The way you shake and shiver.
Is there something that you lack? Don't hold back.
Would you help her for a box of Steamy Snacks? Is that a fact?
We can count on you, Scorner Doo,
We know you got the feeling and for joy you're leaping,
We know you got the feeling.

It's great to see two retired people getting so much out of life. I don't see much like that living in a big it like Coventry only when I come down to Somerset on holiday. Thank you both for taking us with you on your adventures. We look forward to evert new trip. Great stuff.
