I ran and walked this loop in about 4.5 hours. It was a good workout. I even ate a protein bar. In March so the trail was clear and the weather was good.
Glad the permethrin worked for you! Stinks about the wright socks though. Mine have held up well too. The trail looked like a really good one. Great views and water features everywhere.
Thanks, that was a arm chair adventures dream. I have been looking for footage of the shelter at Harpers Creek for years. I finely found some still pictures but the short footage you took is so good. I started up from RT.56 many years ago but it was so hot I gave up and now at 75 I just watch others hike. The shelter in that setting is so great. Thanks again. Dave. Va.
Yes! Having done both of them now, I'd say Three Ridges Loop is definitely easier, but the Triple Crown delivers the views. Another great one in VA is Grayson Highlands, a little further to the south. All are solid winners.
It was a beautiful place and I'm so glad we went. The trail was tough in places but it was 100% worth it. You will definitely have to go back in the spring when the water is raging.
Amazing views and waterfalls! I usually hang my pack on the hammock suspension. It has helped keep the rodents away so far. Thanks for taking us along on your backpacking trip!
This is about a six hour drive from my house in Ohio. The distance of Devil's Backbone from the trail head is literally about 10 minutes. It is just down the same stretch of road. There are also multiple other breweries and wineries in the area. We wanted to make it to more but just ran out of time. I have to get back there...it is heaven on earth.
We started very late on day one. We drove down from Ohio and stopped at Devil's Backbone Brewing for lunch. We didn't hit the trail until 2 and made it to the first shelter around 8. People were doing the entire loop as a day hike, and it is possible with a light pack. If you start early you will very easily be able to make it to camp at a reasonable hour. The AT section isn't as difficult as Mau-Har, in my opinion, but some people do take that trail first and save the big views for the second day.
amazing

Yes indeed. It really is one of my new favorite hikes. I plan to be back here for sure.
This looked like a great trip with lots of scenic views. Great video!

More adventures to come soon!
So there’s 3 Ridges Loop in VA and Triple Crown? Which one can i do first? Thinking of backpacking for a shoet period of time.

Gotta make plans.
Nice video there. Keep it going!
@@mfrancisco4242 Thanks. Actually just got back from the Triple Crown. Working on the video now.

What part is that waterfall? I'm going down in a few days

uptrail71 Thanks for watching! It was a beautiful hike for sure!
Great video man, feel like you should have a lot more subscribers than you do for the quality of your videos. Keep up the great work. Subbed.
Jason Helmandollar Thanks! That means a lot. I appreciate the support and have lots more videos coming soon.
OutLan your very welcome. I know how hard it is to try to build a channel and you have a good thing going.
Thanks for taking us along! How many hours from home to Trail Head/Devils Backbone Brewary?

What time did you start on day one? How would you suggest budgeting time for a weekend, one night two day trip?
