  • Online bridge lessons with Adam Parrish at Learn Bridge Online:
    learnbridgeonl...
Adam tests Bajir with the first bridge hand he gives his students - one with a challenge that trips up most bridge students who play the hand.
We end up in game with a 4H. Once the lead comes down and we see dummy's hand, we see we have only seven sure winners. So, we have to figure out our best shot at winning creating three more winners. Take a look and decide what your strategy would be.
After the opponents quickly win the first three tricks, the pressure is on!
Watch the video to see how Bajir does (in his first time playing a hand at BBO!).

Sorry to be pedantic...but a slightly better line would be to play ace and queen of hearts and ruff the third spade with the king of hearts...there is just a chance that west has only 2 spades...where i'd say it was less likely that west has only one diamond...because they are more likely to have lead a singleton....people lead singletons against suit contracts.

Once South bids 2S then the only way to go for N if either 2NT or 3H, so why not S bid 3H and be done with it.

You've already agreed spades....the whole point of the 2S bid is to check there is a game on....it's known as a game try. If north can help with the trial bid suit they should jump to 4H....if they cannot help they just bid 3S....in this case they can help because they can ruff the third spade....so help is having high cards in the suit or having shortage.

As nice as he is, he talks too much and interrupts the expert. Very naive questions or remarks. Frustrating.
