'Kilmersdon' revisits the former Somerset coalfield with a stay at Midsomer Norton

The Trust's 1929-built Peckett No. 1788 - named 'Kilmersdon' after the colliery where the loco spent its working life - is revisiting the Somerset coalfield with a stay at 'the S&D at Midsomer Norton'.
The loco will be at Midsomer Norton - just a few miles down the road from Kilmersdon village - until the new year.
Today, 'Kilmersdon' was in service on five passenger trains, though needed a bit of help from the diesel at the back in the slippery conditions. Our little loco will be in further service on Santa and new year services, so there is plenty to look forward to.
This is particularly the case as Midsomer Norton had hired a different steam engine earlier in the year which unfortunately had to be returned and there is no mistaking the additional interest that working steam creates.

I remember her at Radstock when the SDJR Trust was based there with 53808. She gave brake van rides on part of the S&D up to the level crossing.

Oh the joy of hardworking steam on the climb to Masbury! Well, part of it. And from an authentic loco even though she probably spent much time pottering around Radstock, Haydon Hill and Norton Hill!
