    Beautiful scenery along the trail. Sad to see the plane crash site. Interesting to hear more of your personal story. Great photos at the end.

      No Big story for me, I was a licensed pilot and flying with the Civil Air Patrol was relatively cheap and fun. So I was a member for 5 years and did quite a few "missions" for satellite "hits". Only 2 actual crashes, one in the green mountains we never found, and one in NY that was at the end of the runway and took 3 days to find. I quit when a good friend and Doctor Crashed his plane and he and his co-owner were both killed. Always good to see your comments. Thanks

    Thx for the History Lesson... and the huffing and puffing! My Cardiologist sent me for a Nuclear Stress Test because I can't walk a treadmill (much less your trails). and now I have a Heart Cath Scheduled for the 14th.. Keep Walking and God Bless you!!

    I always pull up the map and see where your hike is. I notice this one in the Plott Balsam area. My dog is a Plott Hound, most people have never heard of a Plott Hound. (looks just like a black lab). Although he is for the southern tier (NY) his blood line is from the Plott NC area. This area is on my list of places to visit. From what I can see, it's very remote and not very populated. Enjoyed the hike!

      It is very close to the Smoky Mtns Park so it is a bit remote and very mountainous. Good place to hide if your avoiding the revenuers...LOL

    Rick imagine if you could go back 100 years and compare the look of it then and now.
    Bet it would be a world of difference.. 👍

      Actually 100 years it was a clear cut waste land, I want to go back 500yrs and see it as a wilderness with massive chestnut trees! Thats the sight I wish I could see.

    Hi, Rick! Just got back from Vogel state park in Blairsville, Ga. You did a review a few vids back. Anyway, had to laugh watching you do all that steep, rocky climbing. Wife and I decided to climb to the top of blood mountain. Yes, I thought I was going to die. Then I was watching your video and could feel your pain. But it was all worth it in the end, I think? Anyway, as usual, love watching you and Akela's adventures.

    Thanks for sharing this. Very interesting info. Looking forward when I can go this fall. My brother and I went to a place a plane crash happened in a Florida Orange Grove. That was in 1973 & 3 were killed. I still remember stuff we spotted that was left behind.

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  3 года назад

      There is always stuff left behind. Most of the 525 crashes that have occurred in the US since 1965 when the records are available online, so many are impossible to find if you look for them, but people find parts and pieces all the time. Its like a warning sign!!

      Thanks, Its amazing how many planes crashed in the 80's. Very few in the 2000's. Hard to find some of those old wrecks. Thanks for the comment !

      It can be a very long, slow tedious drive. I've done it twice. Do it in March, when the crowds aren't clogging it up.

    The plane crash reminded me of a movie, I think it was Billy Bob Thornton, and I can't remember for the life of me another man and a woman, they found a plane that crashed and a lot of money. Oh well.

    Curious if you have thought of carrying 1 or 2 walking stick(s) with you? It would be a sobering site. I don’t understand why people can not follow the rules… Sad. Akela is such a good boy!

    • @GoingNoWhereFast
      @GoingNoWhereFast  3 года назад +1

      I have 2 $60 walking sticks from LLBean. But I have a camera in one hand and on a hike like this a leash in the other.... So usually no walking sticks with the boy! Though I have attached him to my belt and the camera to the pack strap...so when possible.
