The real magic is him and his wife adopting two little brothers avoiding them to be splited.
Underated comment!
Damn right!
The problem is, he REALLY wants you to know that.
He’s not even that good of a magician. I can do everything he can do he’s just a feel good guy. He’s talented but he’s not that good.
I agree... His story is his magic
After hearing his story of reuniting the 2 brothers through adoption...who gives a flying crap if Dustin wins this show...My man already has won at life.
Magicians should just be magicians. Spare me the backstory and pathos. We are not all as sentimental as Heidi.
@@fergbutt maybe we all should be
@@trubenstudios4063 if no one got pregnant no one would adopt. You can't successfuly adopt someone who was never born.
And, come on... adoption aside, no one should have their own natural children? Kiss the human race goodbye.
It's true more people should adopt. What many people don't realize is that there's actually nor enough babies to adopt, that's because many dint want to adopt older kids because there's often more issues the older kids get. I work at a juvenile behavioral facility and a large portion of our troubled kids who run away, commit crimes, self harm, attack their parents, etc. are adopted kids. That's not to say they're all that way, they're not even mostly that way. But from watching my own brother's adopted kids, they were consistently troubled. But he loved them and invested in them, and all of them eventually pulled through despite needing severe treatment for one of them. I used to babysit them. Love those kids. I am NOT saying don't adopt. But not everyone who wants kids but can't have them is prepared to repair the wounded hearts of troubled children, abused, neglected or damaged by others.
I still have no children. I'm not yet prepared to give up on my own genetics, but so far nothing. If I get to the point that it's clear I can't do this then I plan to adopt. If it's too expensive and gard to get a baby then I'll see if I can prayerfully adopt an older child... and hopefully I'm up to the task. I'd hate to make a hard situation worse. Raising a baby with full on biological bonding, a clean slate and no past abuse and neglect to overcome is hard enough, frankly.
@@trubenstudios4063 no, I don't fail to see it. My comment is explicitly pro-adoption.
I'm just not an anti-natalist.
I'm not anti-birth.
You specifically said to STOP giving birth. That's an insane overreaction to the problem of abused and neglected kids. You don't freeze the reproductive cycle, which requires millions to break even, to find homes for a signifcantly smaller number of children who already exist and replace no-one.
We can walk a chew bubble gum at the same time. We can raise awareness so troubled kids get a better shot at life while still reproducing as a species.
@@fergbutt Good magic is all storytelling.
This guys deserves every good thing coming his way even if he doesn't win AGT. I pray he becomes super rich.
I get tired of people exploiting their 'stories' to score sympathy points. Just do the act and be GOOD at what you do. There's no need to roll your kids out on stage like performing monkeys. Of course it's wonderful to adopt, but it's NOTHING to do with a TALENT show! Skill or talent - that's what the judges are supposed to be voting for, not life choices.
yup. unfortunately the hollywood world and entertainment industry has become focused around branding PEOPLE and making money off of their looks and life, rather than their talents. which is why we see so many people in the industry now who arnt THAT talented, but are pretty much branding their "look" and life, meanwhile the people with real talent are being overlooked, because theyre not going out of their way to create this unique and quirky appearence for themselves
Well welcome to Hollywood guys, 🤣
Yes, once in the auditions was okay , but now he's started exploiting it...
Agree fully. No need for the drama.
The downside of AGT each season with the magicians is that they continuously pan the camera away from them at key moments of the routine. That’s why I give Shin Lim the most respect, because he insisted the production crew keep the camera on him the entire act.
I still can't figure how Shin Lim did stuff in slow motion.
I agree! I thought he did a great performance, and that's a big part of the act. But this trick only required a single sleight of hand, and when that took place it was off-camera. So not the greatest act for me because so little "magic" skill was required. And too easy to guess how it was done.
Shin has been the best act ever on AGT in my opinion!
I really wish the judges would learn some of the very basics of magic. It means some incredibly limited magicians 'blow' them away, which is an insult to the inventive magicians who put thousands of hours into their craft
@@Ratman90 Um, actually I would disagree with that at least for AGT. The idea of AGT IMO is to find magicians that would impress regular folks, even if not some much other magicians. This Isn’t Penn & Teller’s Fool US. We want to the judges here to be like regular folks not knowing the basics of magic so they can judge the tricks as a regular audience at say a Vegas show would. This may not always impress professional magicians but so what, if the live and TV audience is impresse. As Penn & Teller often say on their show Fool Us, even when they know how the trick is done, they often express how impressed they are with the presentation of a trick or the twist added. Sometimes we’ll known (among Magicians) classic magic tricks performed with a high level of presentation and maybe a twist can be very entertaining even if some of the audience might know how it’s done. This guy may very well have done say a deck switch substituting a specially crafted deck that guarantees the outcome he was going for, but to many laymen it’s quit impressive even if other magicians may have guessed the method.

@@Draknalor186 Spot on.
He managed to make a beautiful motivation speech, along with an amazing magic act. That was so incredible!
There is something so very engaging about his vocal delivery, cadence. His magic is pretty amazing too.
I actually find the pauses between his words to be annoying
@@Chamomeleons how so?
The magic here is that AGT invariably pans away when the magician does his "dirty work"
Close up on the book while he switches the deck. Then throws the switched deck in the bin. Didn’t matter how they came out.
It's not about the deck of cards that's dealt to us... it's HOW we handle the deck that's dealt. 😉👍
God bless those adopted boys!! 👏👏👏👏👏🙏💖🙏💖
The Slight of hand happened at 0:46 in the video when the camera was focusing on the book. In the new deck, If every card was double sided, as in the 10 of Diamonds had 10 of Diamonds on both sides, the back of cards had back of cards on both sides, then it wouldn't matter how howie shook up the deck the result would always be the same.
I didn't see any hand slight after the cards came out of the container.
That makes sense
Adorable!!! Beautiful Family!!! Talented as hell! He’s already a winner in my book. I want him to win so I’ll be voting my butt off!
If you playback the speed at .25x, around 1:10 you could see the 10 of clovers flip around in the air and it has the same double front side lol. But overall, great presentation.
Yeah he's got double sided cards. He set it up to work perfectly with what the book said. This is pretty fnn amateur if you ask me. Figured it out in like 10 seconds
It also sounds hilarious
@@BamaRockstar85 and there’s 22 cards

Truben Studios is correct in his comment below. I like the guy and LOVE that he adopted his kids. He is a great guy. But this is a talent show. If I know how a magician does his trick without even rewinding or thinking about it much, then it isnt a million dollar act. Period.
"Magic is the total defiance, of all natural laws and science. With Magic, the impossible becomes possible." Mark Wilson
Each card is the same on each side. If you take one card and flip it over it will be the same on the other side so it does not matter how they land on the table. He just switched the deck before putting them in the container.
yea. i watched when they spined around by H, and spoted the same ones on the table
Yes, and NBC obligingly switched away at the time of the switch. I guess they thought that if they switch away at the time of the switch no one would be able to figure it out, but all they did was make it so there was no trick at all. It is like holding up a lamp, then switching the camera off and when it comes back I have a potted plant. No magic at all.
@@MarshallDudley this was live in USA! It’s one normal deck of cards! I can guarantee! Magician for 25 years. I’ve performed this trick. No switch or dodgy deck
@@carlbarma yoy need to stop your BS...or explain!
Really tired of hearing about his adopted kids. Cheap ploy. Show us what you got and move on.
Yeah, to be honest at first was nice to hear and he seems a really nice guy, but come on... It is already too much. He is "selling" what he did, I don't think that is cool neither for him or for the kids. It is a talent TV show, just do your stuff. And even outside there, I hope he is not telling everyone, everytime about that story. For the sake of everybody, but especially the kids.
Dustin: thanks everyone
Howie: can I go back to my seat.
maybe it's just me, but do you get this vibe that he's a Christian? he'd make a great pastor with some great sermon illustrations
LITERALLY ANYONE COULD'VE PULLED THAT TRICK OFF!!! He just changed the deck of cards when he put the cards into the box to a deck with either a double backside or double frontside. The trick was not at all impressive. Nice presentation tho.
I agree with you
Exactly. Boring... I hate how the judges always "act" surprised
The switch happened at the gathering
Literally every magic trick can be broken down into a "not impressive trick" when you know how it's done, majority are sleight of hand and gimmicks. It's ALL about the presentation and he did pretty damn good with that.
@@gncwithnoah742 There are plenty of magic tricks which require intense practice and skill, and thus can be considered much more impressive than others. To say that all magic tricks are the same is nonsense. As someone who doesn't know anything about magic, I found it stupidly easy to figure out how he did it and the trick didn't seem to require a skilled performer to execute.
Just love his presentation in his magic….absolutely moving.
The best magic I have ever seen.♥️♥️
why he needs to put the word adopted everytime he talks about his daughter.
He's pulling the sympathy card so people vote for him.
Lmao that what im sayin bruh 😂
Every time when he performs magic he is using adoption story. Feels like someone using charity for fame.
absolutely, typical American TV.
Producer should create rules whereby contestants should not tell sob stories during their presentations, or they are disqualified. Judges also need instructed to ignore irrelevant stories and score purely based on talent and nothing else.
Patrick Koon's act is far more impressive. this guy just changed the deck of cards when he put the cards into the box to a deck with either a double backside or double frontside. The trick was not at all magical.
The switch happened after the gathering
Lol exactly what I commented. Some dude was like “I’ve been doing magic 25 years and that’s not how he did it” then proceeded not to say how he did it.
I don’t like how he seems to be about to cry at any second
Yeah milking that angle just a bit too much
they want the sob story so thats how u win
Lol Thats what im talking about he gets me every time he starts to cry talk... 💀
This guy alway seems like he is about to start crying every single time
This Was Epic He Deserves To Go Through!
Whoever did the drawings got Howie's face spot on!
I think I know how he did it. 21 of the cards were two sided with the card printed on both sides. The rest of the cards were two sided with the backs printed on both sides. The 21 cards first mentioned were chosen in such a way and the book was created to match those cards.
Right, we all know, they're all are 2 sided. The swap happened off-camera. It's such a beginner's trick.
00:45 When they cut to the book he switches decks. In the new deck all cards are the same und the front or the back (so either the cards value will be on both sides or the empty area will be on both sides). Still very nicely set up with the book :)
I thought the deck switch could've only happened at 1:27 but you are probably right. He doesn't show the values of the other cards after the trick to prove that wasn't the case. Still not a mindblowing magic trick, no matter how he did it. I've watched too many episodes of Fool Us to be impressed by magicians on AGT this year :)
I am a amateur magician for 25 years. There’s no switch of the deck!
@@carlbarma I'm guessing you're not going to tell us how it's actually done :P
@@TrickyPlaysGames no for 3 reasons
1.too complicated to explain
2.I respect secrets
3. You would laugh n not believe me
@@carlbarma Point 1 made point 3 happen. Most magic tricks like this are not complicated. The actual trick (deck switch or whatever else) doesn't need a lot of steps to explain. Most work in this trick is the setup. I respect your second point though ;)
Wow. This is a grand winner.
Did magic just make me cry?!!
very good
"There are no coincidence" - Master Oogway.
Bruh I've never seen someone so nervous. I felt it in my body lol. But that's still a good trick!
He as to be this year winner!
That is brilliant
10 double faced black cards. 42 double backed cards.
Great presentation! ❤️
It’s one normal deck. I’ve been a magician 25 years.
@@carlbarma I did his trick, had to make my own cards....just like he did. Being that it was NOT a normal deck he had to get then shuffled in a box. If Howie shuffled them like normal he would have seen the trick. They pulled the camera away when the deck was switched. I figured out all his magic tricks, very nicely done and I give the inventor a lot of credit! But a questioning mind can see what he did. He should have been #2, the aerial act is something that not many people can do, but anyone with 30 minutes of training can do what Dustin did.
The trick is when he switch the cards and throw it on the bucket and the switch cards are all double sided cards. So whatever mixing you do you will have the same outcome of cards no matter what. Then you select what kind of cards and numbers or suits you want to make a story about it. He never show the back of the cards because they are double sided.
We saw the cards tho so they weren’t double sides. Hate to break it to you but that was magic
U do realize theres tons of camera edits. They dont show that deck he showed everybody get put into the container, the camera pans away. So its just a coincidence at that exact crucial point they dont show it..
@@rainyjay8156 you realise this airs live n it’s one normal deck I’ve been doing magic 25 years! I’ve done a variant of this trick there’s no fake or switched cards
How does airing live stop them from changing cameras at crucial moments?
@@rainyjay8156 Theres a live audience watching in studio and judges they’d see. Regardless as I’ve said I’ve been doing magic 25 years I’ve done a version of this trick. I know how it’s done. There’s only one normal deck used

He does very very simple moves....his magic is his storytelling!! Very nice
Nice job with the card magic Dustin!
Seems like the cards were doubled sided and he set them up to work perfectly with what the book says. That's it. Simple
Watch the beginning of his presentation, all cards were placed on the table facing down. It couldn't have been double sided. Just appreciate the dude. He did great.....
@@chukwuebukafranklinonyia746 he swapped decks right before giving the cards to Howie. That was the only magic trick in that show (sleigh of hands). I really appreciate him but this trick was a let down...
@@chukwuebukafranklinonyia746 Sure, the deck he spread out on the table was a normal deck, but it was clearly a deck switch. You don't see the deck switch because of video edit but its obvious as when he starts to dump the card into the box some are already face up which would indicate that they are double sided cards.
I'm 100% convinced that Dustin IS the magic....
@Fredrick Connor Oh, everything is just hunky dory! Not having a convo with you here, however...
Funny face of howie lol
That was incridible
Who else wants to flip the cards over to reveal that they are the same on both sides?
But how can they be the same on both sides when they all started face down spread out in a line before being flipped face up in the same line? If you know the secret, tell! 😀 I literally said how tf did he do that, several times through his performance.
@@marnivee8992 he changed the deck
sadly i think it was really that simple, with a deck switch. but presentation was still great.
So what? Only exactly those were flipped over
The cameras were viewed in on that book for about five seconds Nothing else was showing there.. I'm not saying that's when the deck was switched or if it was switched at all. Great Performance!!
The trick is, there’s no trick. He tells u exactly what cards he put in the box.
Yeah they're special two sided cards. It was pretty much a joke
Those cards that are chosen are double-sided cards . So no matter if you shake them in the box and spread them out the ones chosen are double faced cards
Yeah, he switched the original deck in the cut-away to the deck with the double-sided cards. You can even see some of the cards in the box when Howie is shaking them that they are the ones that appear on the table face-up.
wow
This kinda looks like the Card trik Magician Dan Did on Jimmy Fallon Show

His first audition was better than that. It's clear that this is a fixed pack of cards, each card has the same thing on both sides. Also the fact it was mixed in a box like this, it was an attempt to hide how fixed the pack is, if Howie had them in his hands he would have seen right away, but if you look closely I think it's possible to see what I am saying.
And clearly the pack of card was switched before being placed in the box, but camera didn't should off that moment.
