Nothing wrong if single seniors want to settle down and share their lives. Here, surprising element is Anshika's attitude. A US-studied student was expected to support this decision. However, Ritwik was more forward-looking with liberal attitude towards settling down of his father. In fact, although we can call this a "marriage" but it is rather a "needful companionship" necessary/urged by seniors for happy & fruitful years. What is Society? We all make this society, so if we favor & support something, society starts doing the same after a little bit of hue & cry. Hats off to Ritwik. Yes, it's difficult for us young lot to understand this. But we Must think and understand that if for example one of us young people Never married till our late 40s or any mishaps like divorce happens in our lives, we feel lonely and need a partner to live life and share life's small chunks of Happiness so does the case with our parents. They have settled us- as a single parent for some reason but now they need company and it's completely natural and O.K....

One of my patients came to me with some kind of infection in her arm. While I was taking her history I came to know that she had a 19 year old son and she got married when she was just 16. She was able to live with her husband only for 7 months. I was so sad and shocked. When I asked her younger brother ( who brought her to my office) why didn’t they let her get married again. He replied very rudely “ There is no necessity to get her married again “ I still can’t forget her sad look she gave me after her brother’s comment.

Yes parents have right to live their lives but i think anishka is not wrong , being a child of divorced parents is already a trauma and after 2nd marriages of both parents, this child is left alone, unattended in the world . This might not be always true but such fears grip this child , she is very right in asking time to process this .

Very nice topic. While divorcing this mom, the father can remarry, why this mom should live a lonely life, it is not her fault getting divorced by her unfaithful, uncaring husband. The daughter should side with her mother, and working in an international company, why is she worried about the society? Is she a selfish daughter? Acting by everyone is very nice.

Widowed women were historically treated like crap in Indian society and even expected to do sati while the widowers could happily remarry often someone decades younger. It's sad to see this young woman having archaic thoughts in this day and age.

let's not leave out parents to live their life all alone if one has departed. after all they need all the care and love and warmth just as the youngsters wish. more so in the case of elders because that is the age when they get sick and need a console just beside all day. if only we children realise.
