5- The Ruling on Enjoying the Breasts of One’s Wife - Imam Ibn Uthaymeen

Translation text:
السؤال:
يقول يا فضيلة الشيخ: في إحدى الليالي عندما كنت أمارس الجماع مع زوجتي تسلط علي الشيطان وأخذت أداعب زوجتي في غير المكان المخصص؛ وذلك في الثدي،
Question:
He says, O honorable Sheikh: One night when I was having intercourse with my wife, Shaytaan [the devil] overpowered me and I began to fondle my wife in a place other than the designated place [i.e., the vagina]; which is the breasts.
يقول: وقد أنزلت في ذلك الموضع، ويقول أيضاً: ضميري لم يرتح، وإنما يؤنبني، ونرجو من سماحتكم إفتائي في ذلك، وما كفارة ذلك؟ أفيدوني أثابكم الله، ونسأل الله لنا ولكم التوفيق.
He says: I ejaculated in that place, and my conscience is not at ease, rather it is bothering me. I hope you can give me a Fatwa regarding this, and what is the expiation for this? May Allah reward you, we ask Allah success for us and you.
الجواب:
الحمد لله، الذي ينبغي للإنسان أن يستعمل كل شيء في موضعه،
Answer:
All praise be to Allah. That which is proper for a person, is to use everything in its proper place.
وقد قال الله سبحانه وتعالى: ﴿نِسَاؤُكُمْ حَرْثٌ لَكُمْ فَأْتُوا حَرْثَكُمْ أَنَّى شِئْتُم﴾ [البقرة: 223].
And Allah the Exalted has surely said:
“Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth (have sexual relations with your wives in any manner as long as it is in the vagina and not in the anus), when or how you will.” [Al-Baqarah: 223].
والحرث هو موضع البذر، وموضع البذر بالنسبة للمرأة هو الفرج؛
And the tilth is the place of the seed (propagation), and the place of the seed for a woman is the vagina.
لأنه الذي يصل إلى مكان البذر وهو الرحم، فهذا هو الذي ينبغي للإنسان أن يأتي زوجته فيه،
Because it is what reaches the place of the seed, which is the womb. This is where a man should come to his wife in.
ولكن مع ذلك لو أتاها في محل آخر غيره سوى الدبر فإن ظاهر قوله تعالى: ﴿وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَافِظُونَ * إِلَّا عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ﴾ [المؤمنون: 5-6].
But despite that, if he came to her in another place, other than the anus, then that which is apparent from His saying the Exalted: “And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts), exceptfrom their wives or that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame.” [Al-Mu’minun: 5-6]…
ظاهر هذا العموم يقتضي الجواز، وأنه يجوز أن يستمتع بزوجته فيما شاء ما عدا الدبر؛ فإنه لا يجوز للرجل أن يجامع زوجته فيه.
…The apparent meaning of this generality shows that it is permissible, and that it is permissible for him to enjoy his wife wherever he pleases, except for the anus. It is not permissible for a man to have intercourse with his wife in it.
السائل:
إذاً ليس عليه شيء؟
Question:
So, there is nothing on him?
الشيخ:
هذا الذي يظهر من قوله تعالى: ﴿إِلَّا عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمْ﴾.
Sheikh:
This is what is apparent from His saying the Exalted: “Except from their wives.”
