Hi Helen. You must be worn out! Mince pies looked yummy. Great to see you with your daughter and grandchildren again. Looking forward to seeing Mum with you again xxx
I am o happy you are feeling better. I miss mince pies. My Grandfather used to make them every Christmas. He was British and they were delicious. After he passed I tried to recreate his pies. I bought Crosse and Blackwells mincemeat every year. They were not even close to his! Lol! Now, I can’t find the mincemeat anymore! I’m so jealous! The aroma of them baking in our home was wonderful, and it signaled Christmas Day was fast approaching. Oh, Helen, thank you for a special memory today. Those were special days. Blessings to you and your family always! ♥️🙏🕊♥️🎄✨✨✨✨
An old boss said once "if i had not made more then 5 faults a day its a good one. So good enough is well done. Thank you showing me how a mince meat is done. Many years i thought it was real meat inside. Take care ♥️
The cream cheese topped with pepper jelly is one of my favorite easy and quick appetizers. This is one thing I think works better with cream cheese in a block, rather than a tub. I like it topped with chutney or any kind of sweet and sour relishy type thing. Have a wonderful Christmas!
Re: the washing machine. I think it's great Helen to see this is your channel and you do everything from start to finish. I recently learned that some creators actually have a whole team behind them to get everything out. Not rubbishing them just saying you should be proud of yourself. You come across as one of us, what with Dolly wanting in and out. I will continue to support you and like minded vlog gers. Again, well done. P.s. don't know how I missed this last year. 😢
I miss mince pies I love them My grandma used to make them No one else in my family likes them or I would defiantly try making some tarts like yours. I love the stars on top
“Baby cheetahs”. 😂oh my! Children say the most adorable things don’t they? My grandson saw it snowing for the first time and yelled” it’s a Christmas miracle!” I wrote it down in a little book I keep so I never forget such treasures. May your holidays be merry and bright!! ❤️ 🎄
Delighted with your tips for the mince pies will follow to the letter so quick. Looking forward to seeing your mum again & once again Happy Christmas 🎄🎄🎅🙏🙏
Yes looking forward to seeing your mum again. All this food prep is making me feel very guilty and I’d be on the sherry by now if I was having that many guests. But I’m really enjoying seeing a traditional Christmas in the making with you
I'm 100% behind 'good enough', we juggle so much and feel like we have to be perfect. Ha, being oneself and being content is just so much kinder to ourselves. Have enjoyed all your content these last few months Helen. Happy to call myself a Hel's Belle, and I hope you and you family have a lovely festive season. Lx
Hi Helen. Good to see you- I’ve been having some problems with the Internet! You look really lovely in that pastel green. I hope all your hard work and prep for your family Christmas lunch will be enjoyed and appreciated by all, which I think is assured, and have a wonderful time.BTW, I’d love to see your lovely mum again!❤️🥰🎄
Always do star tops for my mince pies (and I did that baking parchment this year after watching that Instagram video). I usually do mini pies and freeze the baked ones, and still think I prefer that method. They reheat from frozen perfectly. I also do the shortbread in star shapes! Christmas week, and we've already gone through a lot of what I had baked for Christmas, so I'm going to have to make more. The only thing I still have lots of are the sausage rolls! I haven't done any of the meal ahead, as there's only the two of us, so easy to manage. Totally agree with you about the insulated jugs - nothing worse than cold gravy. We do roast beef as neither one of us like turkey. Hope your meal goes well, as I'm sure it will - even though it's a lot of work, hope you realize how very lucky you are to have all your family coming to you - I would give my eye teeth for that.
Love your videos!❤ I don’t very often comment but thought I would today. What a good idea to do short crust bases and puff pastry tops for the mince pies! Never thought of that idea! I agree with the fact that there is too much pastry in a lot of mince pies! Thank you for your good tips 💕🙋♀️
Love the individual mince meat pies with star topper. Parchment paper strips trick so smart, too. Temp and how long to bake? Yes, another video with your Mom would be great. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours, Helen.
Hi Helen,, the light green jumper and scarf look lovely on you very flattering..The stars on the pies give them a real holiday look.Helen your mum is an inspiration being 91 and really enjoying life is a real blessing can't wait to see her again. She was lovely.
I love watching people work! I must get my mince pies done and in the freezer. I always brush the tops with egg before I freeze them and I don’t even thaw them out. Straight back in the tin and then in the oven.
My mum's family always adds a very finely chopped Granny Smith or other tart apple to the mincemeat and I admit that it livens it up a bit. They sell mincemeat at the bulk food stores now and you fill your containers and buy it by weight. Also, a touch of brandy or whatever can be added if you so desire. Tell your Mum that she is a lovely lady whom we enjoy in your videos.
Lovely tips. I made mini mincemeat tarts yesterday….the mincemeat came from England. I’m so happy your Mum is going to be with us again…love always, your Hel’s Belle here in snowy Ontario Canada 🎄❄️☃️xx
I was in Aldi this morning and lo and behold didn't they have gravy jugs like your and I bought one Thanks for the tip, happy Christmas to you and yours, Una,Hel's Bell 🔔🎄😁
That color really looks fabulous on you Helen. The story of your sweet grandson just gave me a good laugh. How sweet the memories of when they were little ones! I loved that so much. 🥰✨🎄
Hi Helen. Treat yourself to a silicone 12 hole tin, it’s brilliant, everything you cook in it just pops out 😊 Love the tip of a star on top, that makes so much sense . Happy Christmas 🌲
Had to stop this video to order an insulated jug, fantastic idea. I’ve also made your pigs in blankets, or as my friends husband calls them “ pigs in kilts” as we are in Scotland 😂cranberry sauce, bread sauce and stuffing. My Granddaughter helped and loved getting her hands into the mix. 😂😂
Yum to the pies. The Merriest of Christmas’ to your whole family, and especially to your wonderful mom. I so enjoyed her visit on your channel, and look forward to her next one. Please tell not to feel shy.
Thanks for this Helen - great tip of using strips of greaseproof paper! Star tops to pies lovely idea too. And please reassure your Mum that it would be great to see her again. Take care xx🎄⭐
I will be making my mince pies once I’ve finished there’s something quite satisfying and cosy about making mince pies for Christmas x I think my mince meat has been in the cupboard for a while 🤫 xx Great idea for using the different pastries though xx
Oh no! you poor thing. I hope you are soon recovered! What a nuisance, but it'll be Christmas again in five minutes.... at least that what it feels like! xx
Hi Helen. Sorry I’ve been AWOL, we all have the dreaded Christmas lurgy 🤒😷🤧 in our family. Ugghhh, feeling rubbish. The strip tip is fab I will definitely adopt that. I would love to see your mum again, such a star 🤩.
Thanks Helen for your tip with the parchment paper and like the idea of the two different pastries. Enjoy your family and all the festive food ( that you've made ) Over Christmas. Look forward to another video with your precious mum and well done on 12k subscribers. Happy Christmas 🎄
Lovely tips Helen thankyou. My oven is given up so need to get a new one. Xmas dinner is booked at a local inn xmas eve, we having smorgasbord xmas day at home with lots of oyster bay white wine 🎉 first time ever to have this. Have a wonderful time with all your family / friends …..you really are amazing 💗🌹🏡🎄🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟look forward to spending time with your lovey mum again 💗🌹🌟💗
Hello Helen again LOVLEY to see you. That's a brillant idea were I am making mince pies with my grandson this week normally I just do flat circle pastry on top. But I will show him you're video ( he's 9 years old and loves making things with me ) and show the star top pastry for our mince pies. Which we are making this week. luckly I allways keep that ready to roll pastry in my freezer thankyou Helen for the cooking tips and ideas 👍🤗🤶🎅⛄
I love the baking parchment paper idea for the mince pies Helen. I made mince pies last week for the first time and they were delicious, if I’m allowed to say that haha. Even made my own shortcrust pastry 😁. I hope you’re having a good week 💕x
Cream cheese and sweet chili sauce is a definite try for me as I am always hunting for new dips, not to familiar with minch pies but i love the star on the top. Scarf and sweater are a great color for you. Twelver overnight guests, yikes! Can you please go over your vitamin regimen with us!
Thanks Helen. Didn’t think we’d get any more videos before Christmas and you’ve given me more! Don’t know how you fit it all in, inspirational. Love to Mum, look forward to seeing her next year!xx🎉
Hi Helen, I love mince pies I’m going to make some tomorrow as you made it look so easy. It would be lovely to see your mum again. Best Wishes to you and all the family for Christmas. Thank you for your videos.🎉 x
Some great tips again Helen thank you! Instead of goose or duck fat or ghee for the roast potatoes, could you use something such as vegetable oil or some kind of vegan block, or something else? I have a vegetarian/vegan friend for Christmas dinner. I immediately ordered the insulated gravy jugs! What a great idea!
Helen can you do a tutorial with what to use and how to your eye makeup?? As would love to do mine with the same colouring you have on this mince pie content one !!! xx
When the mince pies are frozen ,if you tap the tin on the worktop they will loosen, even without lining with parchment. I'm a pastry chef and have made lots in the past,
Yes, I think the parchment probably comes into its own when they are baked in the tin. But I expect you are very good at it after all that practice. I think it's a good tip for a lot of different pies and things. xx
@@lesleylushington4979 I know they are short on filling, I did it thinking I didn’t have the time but Helen made them in less time than it took me to park up at Costco!
