Hi Helen. When you said that you were the oldest of five girls and you had an older brother, it’s made me smile because I have exactly the same family set up as you. I am 67 years old, nearly 68, the oldest of five girls and my brother is 70. I knew there were lots of reasons why I liked you and this is another one!!! Xx

Really enjoyed watching this, I had my colours done way back in the 1980’s when I was still in my 20’s, this has inspired me to do it again. It makes a real difference when you wear the right shade. The colours looked great, I loved the periwinkle blue.

My mother and I had our colours done quite a few years ago, it turns out she was a Spring, I was Summer. It took a bit of adjustment but it did work, its a bit of a helping hand when shopping, not a rule book.xx 💐💐xx

That was fun!! I knew there were colors you would say you would never wear! But I'm sure this will give you food for thought. I had three sisters and only one was girlie. She passed away nearly two years ago. So I love seeing other sisters together laughing and being "girlie:. Thank you for sharing!!

I had my colours done a few years ago. Really enjoyed the process whih included hair an makeup. Over the years have transitioned my wardrobe and it certainly has made a difference. Always have my swatches to hand when clothes shopping although I do know instinctively know which colours to go to. ❤❤

I have 5 daughters and 2 sons too, and my girls get the same thing as you. They don't look alike but do, lol. 'Oh, you must be one of the sisters". It's so funny.

Oh my goodness!!!! Amazing. I am thinking that when you watch the video, you might very well see a HUGE difference in "seeing your face first; color second. I am a winter with silver hair. My original hair color was brown black, I wear jewel tones well; PURE white, black, etc.
I love the winter palette. My daughter is winter and looks stunning in the jewel tones too x
Thus was a lovely, I really enjoyed it, and it was nice to see Jackie. I wore a baby blue dress to a wedding a few weeks ago and it’s not a color I have ever really worn but when I look at the picture I think I really suit it.

Yes Kettlewell is a great site. You can filter by your season and buy some great basic pieces that you know will work. It's not cheap but if you know you'll wear it it's worth the investment.

That blouse is a good one. I always think about price per wear and if you buy something that you know looks good you will wear it a lot making it good value. I have things that didn't cost much but I wear an awful lot (those are the ones I really love!) x

Hi Helen, I’m also a Spring and don’t like the colours. I think it’s because I feel like a children’s entertainer in them when I want to be more sophisticated in more subdued neutrals, lolz. I think if I knew how to put outfits together with the colours I would feel better. I will be watching your channel closely to see if you incorporate more of your colours into your outfits. If it suits you, it will probably suit me! Incidentally, the Late Princess Diana was a Spring and she always looked fabulous.
I love the Spring palette and the neutrals in that palette too. In the next few weeks I'll put some mood boards together and post them showing different neutral palettes according to season. Hopefully that will help? xxx

The thing is we’re so use to you knowing what suits you as we’ve seen so many beautiful colours working on you it’s almost instinctive. I think you look really good in greys or black.and both gold and silver. It’s a really useful process if you aren’t familiar with colour and it’s affect.

I really enjoyed the video and meeting your lovely sister. To be honest I didn’t see it at first as far as the colours that were best for you but it is because I was more focused on the colours I liked. When I focused on what they were doing for your overall look and listening to your sister I did see a difference. I was sceptical going into this video but there is definitely something to this. I think bright colours lift everyone. Blacks and navy’s are harsh on older faces. Just my opinion for what it’s worth. Best wishes to your sister with her new venture. Cheers.
When I look at the video of your sister in the blue blouse and drag it to the white blouse she changed into Wow her face looks so much lighter what a difference that was. You Try it. I really do think we just buy what style, print and colours that we like the look of in the shop and we are influenced by what we see people in e.g. you asking your sis where she got her jigsaw blouse from. We tend to buy what we like on impulse. There is So much choice now in the shops and with clothes being so cheap. When I was young mum made all our clothes as it was cheaper these days with the likes of Primark & Supermarkets selling clothes it is cheaper to buy them. We are spoilt for choice. It was nice seeing your sister and watching her going through the colour spectrum. Nice your mum is enjoying it too x Dee👍

Helen, you most definitely are a red person❤ it really does suit you as does the coral and those lovely toffee colours.
The colour you love the best greyish blue doesn't really suit you. I know it's your favourite but it washes you out, blues, greys are just not your colours.
As for that bright fluorescent luminous spring green💚 that you hated, well guess what, it really suited you. Honestly, please think again about those colours.❤💚🧡💛

I had my colours done in the 80s lol and it was bright deep colours for me.
I love the purple it is a gorgeous colour. My daughter says it is my fave but actually blue is my fave. She sent me that poem in a book form. Lol i will wear purple ….😂xx
Thanks for showing us the consultation with your sister Helen. I used to work as a colours consultant and is always interesting watching others do it too. We always removed all makeup and pulled hair back off the face and also wore white uniforms. We had the natural daylight lights and big mirrors which of course makes it easier and helped people see the differences themselves I think more easily as like Jackie said lighting makes a huge difference too. It is interesting to me how this is being revived again as it kind of died out of fashion. I had some very strong reactions from people to reds & yellows including one lady burst into tears when I tried to put the colour up against her! It is interesting the psychological effects of colours. Like your sister too I was originally diagnosed as a spring and then years later when I trained to become a consultant was diagnosed as a summer. So similar from autumn to a summer. Your sister no doubt knows how many winters think they are autumns too. Good luck on her new career and I wonder who she is using as provider of swatches etc - I am in NZ. Maybe I should try and get back into it if people are again interested.

Very interesting. Thanks Jackie and Helen and of course your mum. I loved hearing her laughing away. I had my colours done years ago and I am an Autumn and I agree if you wear the right colours it can transform you. With regard to grey I was told charcoal grey could be my alternative to black and it does suit me. Also navy which really suits me. I don't know if you have heard of Kettlewell Colours. They sell clothes that are separated into the 4 seasons. So for instance they do a bretton top, but you can buy it in the colours to suit your season. They are quite pricey, but I believe the clothing is good quality. Just a thought. I haven't actually brought anything from them but I know of people who swear by their basics.

It's really interesting the colour thing because I have a particular scarf which is in a shade of purple and every time I wear it I get compliments. Ditto (but totally different) an animal print blouse in typical shades of brown. Over the years I've tried to make note of compliments like that because I really don't think it has to do with the actual garment so it has to be the colour. Your face when your sister said her top was a size 10! I know that feeling.

I just loved this video. Just great to meet you sister to. I had my colours done many moons ago. It was fun and I found it really helpful. I was so disappointed to learn that fuscia /purple was not for me but was told just wear some other colour like a scarf to meet your neck/face. I also then had my Styles done as to complete the look. Right colour, right style. Helped with lengths and neckline etc.
Do I follow what I was told. Of course not.🙋♀️. Get my drift. I like a bargain to. This was a great one. Thank you.
Thank you very much. Fashions change as do our bodies so therefore what styles we choose might change too. I've always been a bit of a rule breaker (ask Helen!), but having a few guidelines in place for when we're feeling a bit adrift will always help xxx

That was really interesting... those strong spring colours are lovely on you... especially the periwinkle and the apricots. But i really loved the chartreuse shade which you weren't a fan of...i thought it was beautiful and very few could wear it. I find the colours and shades of colours fascinating. I adore green, maybe with being a redhead when younger, but it's strange how many shades of green look weird on me!!

Helen. I had this done over 25 years ago and had it undated about 7 years ago. I still have my very first colour pallet and it was in my bag when I went to buy new cloths. I never wasted money buying things I would put on and take it off as I just didn’t like. As we get older and our hair a skin change colour I still don’t buy anything that’s not in my colour pallet. It’s was worth every Penny it cost to have it done. Like your sister I gave my two daughters a gift of having it done. They follow their colour pallets.
Yes it does make such a huge difference to our shopping habits which can only be a good thing as we all aim towards buying well and buying less. Thank you for commenting. xx
