      Yeah, John Maher heading off into the world of fast cars was a great loss to rockn'roll. The greatest drummer of his generation no doubt. Right up there with Keith and Ringo.

    You filmed this historic moment? You are blessed Kyle. I was camera assistant on Pete’s Homo sapien tour in Toronto. What a lovely soul he was. RIP.

    sooooo good to see Maher and Garvey with Shelly Diggle....absolutley wicked band, take me back to sneaking in our kids bedroom when he was out at 10 years old to listen to his amazing buzzcocks records, Garveys bass hooks are so catchey and Maher without a doubt the best drummer of all punk bands....a fan for life...

    The best Punk/New Wave band ever. The sheer depth of classic catchy tunes is endless
    Trade Test Tansmissions was their best album. Released in 1991?; a forgetton gem

    I saw them live back in the mid 1980's and they were phenomenal. I also saw Pete Shelley back then on his solo tour. Magnificent blokes all of them and damn good music that will live on.
    Rip Pete Shelley. Gone but never forgotten.

    Autonomy is a has been one of the top themesongs to my life since I first heard in '79. RIP all those who have left us, Cheers to Steve Diggle for carrying on with it all. We are bloody but unbowed (shoutout to DOA while I'm at it)

    I was at the Manchester Apollo show! Amazing night (Steve Diggle spoiled John Maher's drum solo on 'Pulsebeat', and acted like a spoilt brat when he had to play Bass when Howard Devoto came on for the 'Spiral Scratch 'set), apart from that it was an amazing night! dx

    The teouble with "i don't mind " is i have to listen to it at least ten times straight if i hear it once . Just brilliant, that and " she's so modern " by the Boomtown Rats

    Just to be clear... this is a reunion of the "classic" lineup, however - Buzzcocks got back together in 1989 and stayed together until Pete's death in 2018. The reunited Buzzcocks were around for many more years than the original band's career (1976-1981). I believe that this performance (featuring Maher on drums and Garvey on bass) was a one-off show (or two) they did playing the first two albums in their entirety.

    Haha...I had Razor Cuts and always thought the man shouting out on stage was Garth. It must have been Steve D as he sounds exactly the same on this performance.

      It is definitlety Garth being 'mouthy' on Razor cuts.Probably didn't teach Steve any guitar or bass tips but maybe Garth did influence Steve Diggle's stage persona 😃

    Outside of the top three punk bands . Damned pistols and clash these were the next best. Another music in a different kitchen was classs.

      I rate The Buzzcocks way above The Pistols. At a push the Pistols had 3 greats tracks. On the other hand, The Buzzcocks just kept churning out classic after classic LP. Through in their debut EP, and it's game over to them.

      Sorry mate every track on never mind the bollocks is great,alsosatellite,no fun,did you no wrong plus a few of great rocknroll swindle a really good band.I am taking nothing away from the buzzcocks they are fucking reem/mega I have seen them about 20/25 times over the years from the start ,I met diggle a lot a great guy he used to come into my shop in Portobello lovely fella,r.i.p. Pete you were tops.I love autonomy.

      The fact that Buzzcocks exist means that there is no top three, it's officially a "Top Four" and Buzzcocks are in that top four, in no particular order. All four bands are essential. Of course, I'm a bit prejudiced because I 'were' born and raised in Manchester.

    Hi I saw the surname and I wondered if you are related to the bass player I was wanting to try the magnificent I Believe the bass playing and bass dynamics are magnificent I was wanting an overview on the playing also it seems the tuning was between an E and F although I plump for E as on the E string I can hit open E and fretted A on fifth fret which is a phrase that come in after the words in I believe jst before chorus !anyway if you could contact Steve Garvey or have e add I would be great full thanks Robert C

      Sorry to be pedantic, but only Garvey played on the Alive Tonight ep of 1991. Maher had left by then. Mike Joyce of The Smiths played on the ep in question, then left the band shortly after.

      They made plenty of great records after they reformed in 89 (even without Steve garvey). Also, they played their initial reunion shows (1989) with both Maher and Garvey... I saw one of those 89 shows!

      I saw them in '89 in Manchester - I was too young the first time round, so when they first disbanded I thought I'd never get to a Buzzcocks gig, so to see the 'classic' line up was amazing and something I'll never forget!

      Don't be daft. Howard Devoto cannot play bass (or guitar) to save his life. I don't believe this is a reunion of the first lineup (maybe they wheeled Devoto on later, I don't know), it is a reunion of the "classic" lineup with Maher on drums and Steve Garvey on bass.

      @@VincentRE79 He was drunk and disrespectful towards the original line up section of the show. You can read Mahers account of it elsewhere. It must have been confronting to see such a crowd show for the old lineup but being drunk and disorderly was a bad look.
