This is incredible that Alcaraz missed the last two tournaments because he was injured and then comes into his first match and plays like this. This is a testament to his talents and hard work. His opponent didn't play badly at all. It was just the level Alcaraz brought that was insanely good. I wish him good health for the rest of the clay season.

He made a really nice adaptation by using his backhand more offensively rather than running around to hit forehands the way he often does. It's actually worked really well in this match and gives him a chance to get comfort back in his right arm without overdoing it first match back. Really smart approach and shows he can use other forms of attack. I think his backhand is more reliable and I like seeing him attack short balls with the backhand rather than always trying to get it on his forehand.

Clearly he was cautious with his FH, unleashing very rarely. But, the BH was firing and movement was top notch. I hope that he comes injury-free into RG.

Definivamente un juego extraordinario de Carlos Alcaraz. Este es uno de los mejores encuentros por Alcaraz durante esta temporada. El hizo una diferencia grande con su desempeno. Creo que el sera mas consistente en Roland Garros.

That reaction at the end tells you how much he missed the last 2 tournaments and is so hungry. It was not a reaction because he beat World #59 but because he is hungry and ready this time. Hope he wins it all the way meeting Nadal in final.
