Nah. This is a skip for me like Saber, Ex-Aid and Fourze. Snack Power is way too farfetched for any sense of suspension of disbelief. Don't get me wrong, I get it. It's a teen show, but COME ON. How can you think Teen are that R-Word. A good KM series, in my opinion need drama - which is the core of every Kamen Rider - and a solid grounded story. BUILD is popular because of his war torn japan and the machination between Hokuto, Seito and Tonto (planned by Evolt) affect the main cast. GEATS hook you with the mystery behind the game while witnessing their total lack of human empathy for the "NPC", normal human who are just caught in the crosshair. DOUBLE is basically an Noir Show with Gaia Memory being an analog for hard drug where, like a Columbo movie, you know the villain but just want to see how they will take him down. Zero-One make you empathize with the Humagear cause it's the evil of human nature that give ARK the "in" to turn them evil which make you root for Aruto and Izu. It's sad, dark at time but isn't extremely goofy.
But in GAVV, you get the transformation announcement with is peak cringe. The circus music playing as he turn his modified Build Driver. The form name after transformation. How he acquire it. His tool (Chip swords and a modified Road Saber from GO-ONGER). I just can't.

I don't know if you're talking to MK or me. In case it's me; "Saber, Gotchard, Revice, Geats and Zero-One". Still, They get their asses kick by BUILD and W, and are (at least Zero-One) in company of Kabuto... but Shin beat half of the Reiwa era Rider in the dirt and steal their lunch money.

@@Akalistos Lol, it's not a teen show. It's a kids' show in Japan. You are NOT the target demographic. Also, Gain has a similar thing, silly form but serious and dark undertones.
Shoma being a drifter and protecting people inspite of being feared of by them, all while rebelling against an evil organization, is kinda similar to the Showa era Riders thematically: man being isolated but still pushing forward. Very good thing to teach kids
Gavv has a stupid, unserious aesthetic just like Gaim and Ex-Aid. And like them, I expect it to follow suit and have a really serious "THE EVENT" episode around Christmas where the narrative just becomes this incredibly tragic and introspective character journey.
And if anything, NOT turning incredibly dark and serious would be the real subversive surprise twist.
I mean an alien race enjoyin candy that makes em get the munchies for humans is already very dark
I mean it's already building up to that with the whole Soylent dark treats and or what happened to his mother kind of deal
I think it'll be like Geats where they balance it out not straying TOO dark

That's the beauty of Toku, goofy concepts and esthetics pared up with really compelling stories
I'm reminded of two similar sayings; "Many fear what they don't understand" and "Even those who would be our allies would not understand". The entire Kamen Rider franchise is fraught with misunderstood heroes who are never given the chance to explain themselves.

Funny thing, when I first found out that Gavv had a candy motif, my first thoughts were “This is gonna become as dark as or darker than Gaim and/or Ex-Aid, isn’t it?” After all, Rider shows with silly motifs often have darker tones!
As for my thoughts on Gavv itself, I like what we’ve got, and I already want to see more of what this “candy man” can do. (Because he mixes it with love and makes the world go round!)
I'd like to point out a lyric from the opening that might relate to Shoma as a character. The rough translation is "Sensitive to other people's issues but insensitive to your own", Shoma might be using saving others as Kamen Rider Gavv to run away from his own sadness, saving them even if they call him a monster because at least that's better then confronting the failure to save his mother.
That kamen rider thumbnail reminds me of some cartoony video game mascot!

The actual video game rider was 2016 to 2017 (Each season lasts for a year but starts in the fall). Kamen Rider Ex-Aid. Solid season, mixes video games with a medical drama because the monsters are computer viruses that have become capable of infecting people.
I bet Toei watched the Wonka movie with Timothée Chalamet and they have the idea. *“What if Willy Wonka is Kamen Rider”?*
I have not watched the Gavv yet I can compare Gavv and Timothée Chalamet’s Willy Wonka.
Both are Kind and Cheerful person
Both like snacks such as candies.
Both have a fish out of water story.
Both made friends with a kid including repaying kindness that given to them. The Girl Noodle helps Willy to sneak out and she teaches Willy how read in repaying for life time of Chocolate and helping her to find her mom.
Both go against their kind. (Willy Wonka have go against other Chocolate business men)
Both want to uplift others, as Soma wants to protect the innocents against the Garnets, Willy wants to share his chocolate rather than charging too money for chocolate.
Both of their love for snacks came from their mothers.
Yeah, I am 100% confident Gavv it is inspiration from Willy Wonka.

Gavv really is reminding me of W, Shoma feels a lot like Philip without memory Loss whole Hanto feels like Shotaro with the whole "trying to be cool when in fact he's a goober"

Hey thanks for doing a kamen rider video i too also find it refreshing that they going a bit old school having people think the rider and kaijin in question are of the same alignment because it brings us back to the cross of fire how the kamen riders are parallels to the evils they fight my only hope is that Shouma continues to find precious people that understand his plight and ground him,also this can also be a set up for Gavv to Have Berserk Form or a future movie form where he gives in to his gluttony POPPIN GUMMY JUICY
Hell, you could argure that Gavv being a "monster" Kamen Rider goes all the way back to 1971 with Ichigo.
My first exposure to this new series was the clip of truck-kun getting absolutely shrek'd and a clip of his Rider transformation scene. I've always adored how unique the Rider transformations are between each series.

I have watched other Kamen Rider series before (Kuuga, Ryuki, Zero-One, Geats and yes it’s out of order because Tubi is weird) but once I figured out how to watch other Kamen Rider shows, I decided that why not give Gavv a try. I got hooked with the first episode and watched the second, waited a week and watched the third. I guess I fell into the rabbit hole of Kamen Rider and I am not complaining lmao! I can’t wait to see more and what Gavv has in store! Poppin’ Juicy! Gummy!
Honestly Gavv consistently being called a monster makes him different from other Riders, who are admired by civilians, but instead Gavv is called a monster, more realistic opposed to other riders

Kamen rider Gavv is so far my favorite rider so far, I really love the suit design, the stories great so far, and the music is impeccable! Hopefully this gets some good views
Always happy to watch a kamen rider video, some entries are better than others but somehow every new entry manages to portray the same concept ( hero vs villain ) from a different les and point of view which ultimately makes it worth checking out if not watching to the end. You have some interesting points and even if I have yet to check out gavv, that was a clear explanation in your opinion as to what makes this entry worth watching. Keep up the great content!

W was my first Kamen Rider show too, after the Fuuto Pi Anime I went to the source and found out a whole new world, I love this silly ahh franchise
Not sure on how build first arc is considered silly. It had jokes for sure, but the whole faust-conspiracy is anything but silly.
@@wah3865 With Silly I mean the Vibe and Style OVERALL. It was serious, but not THAT serious.
At the start those three were like most other Kamen Rider shows, having some serious moments or undertones, but it compansated with plenty of Humor. But then they went WAY SERIOUS with the themes and situation and the jokes and comedy was turn down more than usual
@@sofialu226 I get that, but i'll argue that build were more consistent compared to the other two. I'd say because early on, the whole stuff with faust (human experimentation, blackmailing, extortion,etc) is their casual sthick. Compared to the bugster whoose goal is making more of themeselves or the inves which was treated as more of a discount pokemon.
I had to say it’s a very interesting take on where the show could be going especially in contrast to It’s gimmick and how it looks on the outside of it being seen as a lighter show but to have the show going into a darker direction would be interesting ways for it to go
honestly glad to have someone talking about Kamen rider, I heard about the series from a RUclipsr called Incyn yet had nowhere to start, keep posting, the series intrigues me.

What is interesting is that Shoma is considered a monster for both sides, the 2 first episodes of the monster are basically addicts or more like alcoholics for their own society has the consumption of the treats normalized.
But both fight with the "Monster" panicking and deeply afraid of Shoma, his aspect alone is eerie to them, like an uncanny valley effect, like something that is similar to them but has something is not right

I love the Gochizos. They're funny and extremely loyal. I really hope there will be this massive Gochizo army behind Shouma one day.
So they're pretty much Pikmin but themed after snacks. Especially when Gochizos get spirited away after usage via Gavv Driver.

OOO is my favorite Rider series and from the first few episodes I'm getting impressions of a lot of similarities in the tone/action/character dynamics within Gavv which is really promising.

Kamen Rider Gavv really does to me feel like it’s gonna be one hell of a trip and probably one of the more bizarre and campy types of kamen Riders out there in terms of aesthetics but at the same time off putting in terms of plot character development,but that honestly kinda makes it a lot more intriguing

Tbh Gavv has a great start , the show has deeper meaning than we thought if watched closely Excited to see more riders in this series and also make more videos regarding kamen rider ❤
There is a subtle detail that implies he is an outcast with the granute too.
Shoma is reversed, his Rider Form is not equivalent to the Granute's "monster"(real) form, instead it is to their human disguise.
They use their minions, the equivalent of the Gochizo to adopt a human form and they remove it from their second form
Pd: to add the granite inclusive describe him as someone with a "Bizarre" looking, for it they are confused with him not only for his actions but for appearance
I love how Shoma (KR Gavv) often gives his enemies two options: To give up their evil ways or get f***. The dude has been a very sympathetic character so far!
I too agree itll be decently fun season, this era has definitely had ups and downs and gavv despite the rather goofy even toylike aesthetic, has my attenion, and soo. HENSHIN! **POPPIN GUMMY- JUIICYY!!**

Here in Poland, we've had only the one Masked Rider for Fox Kids.
Didn't seem to be too big here.
On TV you'd sooner see another iterations of Power Rangers or TMNT with oddballs like Beattleborgs, VR Troopers or Mystical Knights or Tirnanog (?).
Other two odd things:
1) Rider Kick?
Yeah, our dub would change it to [Rycerski Skok] = Knight Jump.
2) We all knew the show as Masked Rider™,something here would have their titels untranslated and kept in english, yet on wikipedia it's [Gwiezdny Rycerz] = Star Knight. I was todays years old when i learned it.
The series does look like it's off to a good start. Maybe I should get back into watching Kamen Rider again.

I love this show. And on episode 1 I was hooked. I normally give a show 3 episodes before deciding to give it a full watch. But this show has so much promise. And I love it.

Shoma sounds like a more violent Shinji. Like if he was in the mirror world he would threaten the riders to either stop fighting or kill them but the real tragedy are the Gochirozo. Sacrificing themselves to protect humanity.
You know it’s kinda weird how not a lot of views comes from Kamen Rider but not Super Sentai or Ultraman

Just going to put this one out since this video probably was made before episode 3 release,
The secondary rider (Valen / Hanto) although conflicted , know that Gavv is protecting people , which would make it harder for them to clash right away (but unlike the current era , reiwa , that's bound to happen anyway , but atleast not hunted) and the Drak Treats are made of human and was confirmed , while they find people thag are happy just for the taste , hence premium spice .As the famous saying goes "money can't buy happiness". Also this also has similar vibe to W since so far it seems the antagonists are related to Shouma too so yeah , eonder how this will go going forward but I will be here from start to finish , just like I was with the previous rider , Gotchard (painfully)
My thoughts on Gavv, and spoilers up to episode 3 btw, is that Shouma has a traumatic childhood and is reluctant to form and maintain bonds because of it. Everytime where he recieves kindness he run away even though they are willing to cater towards him. Like in episode 2 where he is offered a job and living quarters, things he desperately needs, but he still runs away. In the third epsiode the reporter is even willingly to hear out Shouma peacefully because all his leads hint that Kamen Rider Gavv is not a bad person, but even then Shouma decides to run instead of explaining himself.
I think you missed the mark on episode 3 reasoning. He is fully clear that his problem was he's gonna get unmasked. While this shouldn't be a problem, Shouma promised to Hajima that he wants to keep his Granute identity a secret thats why he ran.
Christ there hasn't even been 4 episodes yet.

I find myself liking the Kamen Riders where the riders are either a version of the monsters they are fighting or are very close to being so. It does tend to add more drama to the series. Kamen Rider Kiva is a Fangire, Kamen rider Alpha is a Amazon, that kind of thing.
