I have a 1995 Omega Seamaster 300 and earlier this year I had a complete service and overhaul done. This the second time I have had a service done on this watch in nearly 30 years. I always wait until the watch start running slow or not keeping proper time.
Since nearly every Omega from 80’s & 90’s uses Valjoux movement, a few use ETA or Lemania, that should mean others employing same movements like Tag Heuer, Breitling, B&M to name a few, should share similar reliability.
Yes watchmakers have problems if they are not serviced they’re out of work. In the day a man perhaps owned one non water proof watch which he wore every day. Now people own huge numbers of watches and the only spend a fraction of the time active. If it’s a cheap watch just keep wearing and replace movement. If it’s a dear watch just monitor it .
@@khaledalrazqi9369 Zenith. They are of course only brand among these 3 that design and manufacture their own movements. I’m personally not a fan of Breitling from a design standpoint but the movements used are same Omega; Valjoux and ETA. I’ve found the Zenith Elite are reliable but not very complicated, built to a budget level in terms of finish. The El Primero various in finish among various models but the chronograph movement is extremely well engineered and executed. It does require professional servicing every 5 years, they formerly called for 3 years but 5 years is fine. Do not ignore this, at 36600 bph a lot of wear and damage can be done if not regularly maintained. The servicing costs are typically quite reasonable if properly maintained, if not maintained, servicing costs will go up quite dramatically and often take many months to obtain parts from Zenith. If you are someone that doesn’t routinely follow service needs of your time pieces, Omega is the best option. They ate owned by Swatch and their movements come from within Swatch umbrella. While Breitling uses same movements, they are independently owned by a Swiss equity group. While basically all Breitling chronographs use same Valjoux 7750 found through Swatch portfolio, the finishing of parts are different and most watchmakers do not polish parts to match oe. If you want to maintain oe condition, you’ll need to order parts direct from Breitling, which will not be as fast as Omega but MUCH quicker than Zenith.
